  1. Bulshit I have a Kiwi friend there have been using BMWs and always updated the with BMWs. This young boke(student) bought a Toyota MR2 (second hand) that was the first japanease car they ever bought. After that their family fleet gradually changed into Japanese car. Another example is a SriLankan living in Aussi bought a BMW X5 brand new because he wanted a Prestige Badge. Then he bought Mitsubusi Pajero as a second vehicle because he needed a car with 7 seats. Now he very rarly drive X5 because he does not like the feeling. Pajero is half the price of X5 I am writing this because in SriLanka it is better to get a common model that suits to the SriLankan poket and roads. But if you want to show off get a prestige brand and related costs in repairing it
  2. Hi guys I saw MahindaRajapakse handing over the keys of Actyons assembled in SriLanka. What's there introductory price into the market?
  3. Hondas are always expensive compare to other Japanese cars in the same segment. They tend to hold the second hand value too in other countries (NZ, Aussi). Nissans must be the least expensive japanese car compare to Toyota, Mazda(in the same segment). Korean cars sells more in Australian market compare to Nissans because of their competitive price. One of my freind had a imported Nissan sunny decided not to buy a Nissan again. BUT, Nissan petrol is higly recommended as a good 4WD next to Land Cruiser. There is a great demand for Nissan Skyline as a cult car (Under 30 people)
  4. Hi all It is interesting to see TRD Toyota corrolla won the 1st and 2nd places in the Australian Rally championship and won the best manufactureres award too. There were some WRXs, Ford Fiesta, Lancers. I so that some petrol heads says driving a Toyota is like eating flour. I think the meaning of that is even in the toughest road conditions Toyota gives comfortability and reliability. If you want more info follow the link below. Cheers http://www.trd.com.au/TRD/#main/motorsport...llyEvansvictory
  5. Any reasons to say biofuels are a fraud
  6. Thanks Rily, Let us know if you more info about the BioDiesel in SL. Is there any goverment push towards using bioFuels Parak
  7. Thanks for the positive response Nilantha Are they making biodiesel in commercial scale? and what is the end use of it
  8. Hi there Is there any biodiesel producers in Sri lanka.
  9. That's a beauty Has it got a rotary engine or a pistons
  10. Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7 (JA 627) It was the cheapest japanese make real rear wheel drive 4WD with the Hi and Lo range. Even a same engine capacity rear wheel drive cars costs the same. I have not heard people complaining about Suzukis who have had them before. It is not bigger as Land cruisers or Patrols so good in economy. So it is good for driving to work and shopping. Have all the luxuries in Luxury sedans. It does not look small as a normal SUV (because of long wheel base). It accomadates 7 passengers specially when vistors staying with us or kid's freinds want to travel with us. It is handy to have dual AC for the passengers in the back. Pretty handy in driving in beach or dirt roads leading to the camping sites. I can carry sone of our longer gears on the roof (fishing rods etc). What else I want. I am happy with it. I would like to have a BMW X5 but it costs more than three times of this. If we sell out our second car (Corrolla CE110) I would like to buy latest model 320i, Lexus IS series or a RX8. But it depends on the financial situation
  11. Hi Guys Any body interested about type R here is the link that has even compariosn of other hot hatches Enjoy http://www.civictyper.com.au/downloads/civ...ear_article.pdf

  13. Hi There I've been using a Toyota corolla CE110 (1995, 2.0 Diesel). I/ve done timing belt, water pump, front brake pads at 100000km (equal 40000Rs) in 2003 . Timing belt rear brake pads and the fan belt for (equal 75000Rs) recently the odometer reading was 185000km. Other than that (those are sort of sheduled manitance costs). Other than tyres (every 40000-45000km) and wiper blades (every year) I have not spend anything on this.
  14. Try Suzuki XL 7. It got 7 seats, Real 4WD with normally rear wheel drive (2H). Enough power to drive around in SLankan roads. good durability. I have been using one for 3yrs (the one on my signature) no trouble. One of my friend bought the same model and he is also happy with that. I saw one on AL for 3.5mil (2002) with leather trim, moon roof, climatic control dual AC. I checked all the other Makes which have same options but they were not affordable and none of them had real rear wheel drive system (most of them AWD and electronically controlled 4WD ability). Just have a go with it
  15. Thanks for correcting me I thought it otherway around. Anyway what is final drive?
  16. Welcome back Anyway I am new here & read Ur profile I like your attitude towards to be a Srilankan all the way. Keep it up
  17. Hi Bugatti and Mirage7777 simply explained the OD giving examples of 4 speed and 5 speed gear boxes. Actually OD stands for Over drive. Means in Over drive mode (in the highest gear could be 4th or 5th or any number) wheels spins faster than the engine (in technical terms Wheel RPM > engine RPM). Normally old days with 4 speed gear boxes when the car is in top gear(4th) engine revolving RPM and wheel revolving RPM used to be the same. Correct me if I am wrong Cheers
  18. Good question. It depends on the model of the car (Tank capacity) Whether it is going uphill or down hill What I used to do when I start to use a new car. Find the tank capacity from the manual (or ask an expert). Fill up the tank and runout the fuel until warning light comes up. Fill up the tank again. Now U know how many liters the tank holds from the warning(level) to the fillup level. "SAY X" Now the difference between the total volume of the tank(what's in the manual "SAY Y") and the voulme above the warning level gives U how many liters stays below the warning level to the bottom of the tank Volume of fuel under the warning level=Y-X Good luck
  19. Very good advice, This model (Thanks for the pictures) used to be a market leader in those days I reckon. If U have enough money to keep a second car I would keep it with minimum modificatiions. How about replace the bonet and the boot lid from bits from Junk yard (If they are available U can keep the original pieces intact) and make little false intake and a rear spoiler. If U do that the chrome parts also have to be removed(store them) and relpace them with a fiber glass bumper or a body kit. Wider tyres on alloys would be a nice addition.
  20. Good suggestion , What Yr is it anyway?
  21. Hi I am no expert and no been in a Kia have seen lot of KIA sportages on Australian Roads. 1997 KIA sportages still going ggod and seems not tired enough to go into the junk yards. Unfortunatly I do not know about the KIA diesel engines to give U any advices. Just google "KIA sportage diesel reviews" on the net there are few reveiws U can read. Following two links will conect U to two reveiws http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car-a...el-1004505.html http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/27072007/45/kia-sportage-0.html
  22. Good question MadMax, Pretty hard to Choose. I reckon most of the korean SUVs got Merc design init. Is it true?
  23. Hi all Thanks for the response. I am still waiting to know how the tax structure works. Have anybody imported personally used car(overseas). If I sell above car in here I may be lucky to get 40,0000Rs. That's why I am thinking of taking into Sri Lanka for some body to use. But it depends on the tax component. Any body works for customs Cheers
