  1. did you solve the problem? I have exactly the same noise from on my Cruze. This is very mysterious noise to me. My cruze was very noisy before causing various reasons. I did lots of replacements to get rid of those noises. I have replaced all Shock absorbers, suspension mounts, outer CV joints, Driver side engine mount (Gel type), Front and rear wheel bearings etc. and got some improvement. Now the driver side inner CV joint give Taka taka noise when climbing hills with load. Still I try to find cruze inner CV joints. But this steering rack noise getting trouble me from the beginning and never went away. One mechanic repaired the rack ends and replace the bush (Tightened the steering wheel) noise went down for very short time and came back. Another mechanic says I have to replace the complete steering rack so did. It was very hard to find Chevrolet cruze steering rack. I was lucky found one and replaced. Few days after noise came back. Mechanics opinion was replaced new rack is also faulty. I went to another mechanic and he is still trying to find the problem. Noise is only coming when driving off roads. Any idea is highly appreciating.
  2. .vob files never play directly on DVD player. so car DVD also need full standard DVD Video disc. (you can convert and burn it through Nero Vision, Ulead, cyberlink power Director kind applications). Most of Chinese DVD players can show any major car bands as logo. so i think yours is Chinese one( Original Japanese ones has only Japanese language) if yours Chinese one .mpg files definitely play in your player. remember that when converting to .mpg choose low resolution option (as 352 x 240) MPEG1 (not MPEG2) otherwise high resolution .mpg will not play.
  3. Is your player original Japanese one? It will not play Videos from USB. (any kind of format. I have tried Honda/Toyota players) Original Japanese DVD players with USB support only play DVD Video disk only (you have to convert your videos to DVD Video Disc (which are playable in home DVD players) USB support only for .mp3 music files. Chinese car DVD players play USB movies but have convert video clips to .mpg format (Most of the players) some Chinese players will play .mp4 as they don't have standard for their technology.
  4. Thank you very much for the reply Yes car is idling fine as you mentioned (engine rev up on cold start and then slow down as the engine heats up) and not any difference in performance. I am running always AC on and after noise came up I have checked with AC off noise is there. Actually my noise is very (100%) similar to the thread I found very recent in AL. ("since last month when i accelerate the car (while driving only)something like engine knock sound("kata kata") something like rattle sound (but not a engine knock) coming from engine after few seconds its vanished.but no any difference with engine performance ..pickup or gear changing.last week i did a engine tuneup & sensors checked .but no luck with that too.my mechanic says he cant predict it tooo because car performance is very well...what should i have to check now?does any one had a similar problem like this?") He have solved the problem with cleaning/replacing MAF sensor (I have no idea where it located in my car) Car is bought only 4 months ago and I don't have service records. May be the previous owner didn't done engine tune-up recently. I have a big doubt about replacing spark plugs. thanks for the advice. I am gonna do engine tune-up (Sensors checked) tomorrow straightway as you advised. Please let me know what are the other sensors related to this problem I have to get checked. Thanks
  5. Hi My Chevrolet Cruze 2003 and have a problem and need an expert advise. The car has an ignition or spark plug like noise on starting at morning. When 10 to 20 minutes driving, it will be disappear (That mean engine got hot). Sometimes load is high and at hills noise come again. My electrician checked it and says spark plugs are faulty because there is yellow line burn marks in the ceramic insulator and needs to be replaced. The car is 83000Km and electrician says still it has original OEM Denso Iridium Spark plugs. Are Spark plugs faulty because of ceramic discolored? (Tip is fine) Do I have to replace Iridium spark plugs at 83000Km? M13A Suzuki engine and bonnet sticker says spark plugs replace with NGK IFR5J11 or IFR6J11 what are the different between them?. Your advices is highly appreciated. Thanks
  6. Hi. Crosswind, thanks for advice. I have completely checked my car last weekend and few things corrected and got big improvement. You are correct there was loosen in steering rack when fixing earlier. Mechanic apologizes to me and tightened it now the steering wheel is bit tight but it is OK to me. Half of problem gone away. Right side ball joints ball joint loosen and mechanic repaired it. All the interior nuts, bolts tightened (Specially Front two seats screws) plastic clips replaced. You are also correct about new shock absorbers now it's getting better and better. Also Wheel alignments done. All alloy wheels valves replaced (there was slight air leakage from 2 valves) and nitrogen filled, Now the ride is OK. I am very happy with my Cruze. Thanks again.
  7. My Chevrolet cruze 2003 do 10 Kmpl in city traffic and 12 Kmpl outstation with always AC on and two people on board. I think this is the best avarage fuel consumption of Chevrolet cruze.
  8. Thank you very much all for quick Reply. Mine is LA-HR51S first I thought Suzuki swift ones will fit but the supplier said there is slight difference and have to replace same model. So I ordered through him same model gas shocks (Old ones also KYb gas) same part number (I have checked by my self-part number and new one says "Made in Japan" and from sample he only get part number) front ones Rs11500.00 each and rear ones 6500.00 each total Rs36, 000.00 no delays at all. The rack end thing I didn't replaced complete rack only repaired rack end (Mechanic says "Bush") before there was noise from there and after repairing it was completely disappeared. Key word "Little" I am not meant ride is that much uncomfortable and whole car is vibrating lot all the time. In the smooth carpet road ride is good. My problem is even little road roughness feel at car inside. Dash board and seats are vibrating and make noises front door locks center mirror are also vibrate all the time and make noises. If the road is very rough (I meant typical Sri Lankan "tara guli puropu tara parawal) car is bouncing and vibrating almost every part inside. very annoying. Altogether I meant ride is not smooth as I expected from Cruze. And compared with other cars I have drove in same roads not have this kind of problem (Nissan March beetle, Suzuki swift beetle (Japan), Mazda Demio, my bad is I have never drove Suzuki swift Jeep model.
  9. Hi I am new to the forum and I need expert's opinion. I have brought Chevrolet Cruze 2003 2 months ago after did research in internet (Specially Autolanka Forum and Crosswind thank you for your ideas it was big help). First I was decided to go for Swift Jeep model but when I found that the Cruze is fancy version of the Swift I went for it. (After seeing Autolanka and Crosswind's posts) The Car was awesome it has 82000 on the clock and fully loaded (Touch AC with Climate Control, Fog Lights, Full Body Kit, Reverse Cam, DVD subwoofer, Airbags, ABS, Power Retractable Mirrors, etc) with very good interior/ Exterior/Engine Condition. Doing 10 Kmpl in heavy traffic and 12 outstation. Brought from the first owner. The only problem I have facing is less comfortable in the car. In the good carpet roads ride is very good but when hit the small bump or plot hole it will bounce and vibrate lot. When the time did purchasing I have checked the car with a mechanic and he says all shock absorbers are in the end of life and Rack end loosen. so the seller reduced the price I did the repair. I have replaced all 4 shock absorbers with original KYB and rack end. Mechanic says now it's in the original condition. But I am not satisfy with comfortable and bounciness and vibrations . What I have to know is that normal for Suzuki swift /Chevrolet Cruze? or not what I have to do to correct it. Chevrolet Cruze owners please help. (Crosswind, your idea would greatly appreciating) Thank you
