ok.. this is for all of you folks..
a very good friend of mine used a bj5p special edition 2001 YOM with all 4 discs, tiptronic, white meter panel, nardi steering and it was an awesome ride and i had a special edition hatch 2000 model manual with only front discs but everything else was the same. both had ZL-Ve VVTI engines.
i personally felt the handling and the tiptronic box was very fun to drive and had a decent pick up. mine was manual but i felt the tiptronic box was much better recuse mazda manual shift was very stiff compared to my previous hondas.
both were maintained at Maxxna motors and my friends tiptronic was running fine up to about 100k milage and then started giving issues. the biggest issue was delay in shifting and not shifting at all sometimes and this was rectified by Maxxna citing it was a pressure leak from the wornout clutch plates in the tiptronic box. then after months the issue came again and Maxxna again repaired it.
that was back in 2013 and i heard the tiptronic box parts were hard to come by because these were limited editions and that was the first generation tiptronics of mazda familia.
anyways he sold it in 2013 before the issue arise again and he confirmed the next owner also had the same issue again.
also , as someone correctly said, my manual car's clutch cylinder gave up twice and repair kit did not work hence i replaced the entire cylinder.
other than that it was a wonderful car to drive.
hope this helps!
