  1. bro didnt you refer the owners manual? normally there shold be something info on fuel quality in that...if it says to use the best grade petrol that you can find then no big issue ne...
  2. thought of posting this after i saw the topic started by Supra_Natural...hope this would be useful for you bro..
  3. hi guys when i was browsing the net i came accross the following article....hope you guys would see this useful In Europe 98-octane gasoline is common and in Japan even 100-octane is readily available at the pumps, but this octane nomenclature is misleading to Americans as foreign octane ratings are derived entirely differently from our own... So, like every other measurement system it seems that everyone else uses a different scale than we do, but unlike most other instances where we have had the good sense to create different units of measure in this case we all use the same name... Japan and Europe use a system called RON or Research Octane Number to determine the octane rating of their gasoline, while stateside we use a system called AKI or Anti-Knock Index to determine gasoline's octane rating... Interestingly, to further complicate things it would seem that our own AKI system is actually derived from the average of the RON system and another more complicated system referred to as MON or Motor Octane Number... So, to recap our methodologies for measuring gasoline's octane rating are different, but share some common elements... So, with the commonality of RON in mind a good rule of thumb is as follows, multiply the foreign RON Octane rating by 0.95 and you will have the US AKI equivalent. ( RON Octane Rating x 0.95 = AKI Octane Rating ) 98 RON Octane x 0.95 = 93.1 AKI Octane (US measure) 100 RON Octane x 0.95 = 95 AKI Octane (US measure) So, as you can see the 93 or 94 octane fuel we are all paying an arm and a leg for is actually quite comparable to the higher octane fuels found in Europe and Japan. The people whom have to worry about low octane rating are our friends out west in places like California that are subjected to substandard 91 octane. 91 AKI Octane (US measure) = 95.5 RON Octane
  4. true i have even found that sometimes this method helps. And another method is that, if it's hard to put the car into reverse gear just put the car into some other gear and try to move the car a bit forward-several inches would be enough..and then try putting it into reverse...if this method works then you'll be able to save some bucks.i have used this method with most of the old car and glad to say that it works...

oh bro forgot to ask you something...did D*MO guys tell you that it would be alrite to pump 90 octane petrol?
  6. once experienced a same sort of RPM issue with one of my friends car but it was an old one with an carb engine so didnt care about it that much..but in your case this is something that you should look into.bro why dont you take it you the place where you got it tuned and ask them diagnose the problem.bc if you take it to another place then you'll have to pay for them as well. as for the gear issue what do you exactly mean by "gear get stuck"...is it that you cant change the gear stick to neutral position from those gears or its hard to move the gear stick to the first and reverse gears?
  7. for tinting you can take the car to 3M guys as well they give a life time gurantee for the film but their charges are insane..once for my car they quoted nearly 10K(for a full tinting)

its normal that you get 9KM/L in the long runs since these cars are made to to be driven on high ways at high speeds.anyway one cool ride bro. people who have driven these cars claim that they are so much faster than any SUV,sometimes sport cars, they have ever driven..how's you r experience? 4.7L V8 huh....you'll cross SL before you get it to max revs in top gear:d
  10. hi machan just a small question...i read somewhere that the maximum a D15 could handle is about 300HP without any internal mods to the engine. is this true?
  11. very good info machan.thanks.
  12. @ gihan_fx..machan since you know a lot of guys who are in this modifying business just wanted to ask you something, do you know asanka? didnt he have a turbo on his red EG8? some say that now the turbo has been taken out..any idea about this machan? thanks.
  13. this would be a very good idea instead of turbo charging a civic and it's cost effective too..and the the car would be more reliable than a turbo charged one so you'll have peace in mind. but if you have money and if you need a lot of power under the hood the B18C type R engine would be the best option. I dont think that a turbo charger D15 SOHC vtec would do better than a tuned B18..mainly interms of performance, reliability, smoothness, etc.
  14. wow....cool ride bro.post some interior pics as well.
  15. would the money from the new car tax be enough to cover the monthly fuel bill of the AM DB9.. ...lets not talk about the servicing cost..
  16. well replacing the plugs is just the part of the tuneup...an EFI tune up would include the following 1.Injector cleaning 2.cleaning the throttle body 3.Tappet adjustments apart from the stuff mentioned above its also possible carry out ignition timing checks and adjustment, sensor checking,etc..
  17. bro are you sure that your ES is non i-VTEC?you are correct about the RPM thing
  18. the easiest thing that you can do is to pump full tank petrol and set the odometer/trip meter to zero and then after you have done,say100KM, pump full tank petrol again and check the number of litres that it had taken to tavel that particular distance and then distance travelled devided by no. of litres would give you the KM per litre figure. if the car is consuming more fuel after the tuneup then it could be due to some fault by mechanics..normally its suppose to do better on fuel after an engine tuneup provided that you drove the car the same way as before and in the same level of traffic. whats the old KM/L figure and the new one?
  19. well according the thunderbolts comments the car should be EFI one.the thing is machan in a very cold morning its normal that you get some petrol smell outta the exhaust but it shouldnt be a very strong smell.hows the fuel comsumption and pulling power of the car after the tuneup?
  20. yes you can get the two prroducts separately but here in SL what you get most is the car wax with polish included in it. there was a very long thread on AL about this matter and product recommendations try to find that thread machan. how often you should wax the car depends on ow you use it.if the car is a daily driven then atleast wax it once a month..that'll do.well what i use is 3M car wax.
  21. the RPM cut off in the Es is at around 6300 compared to about 7200 on the Ek's and EG civics. Also the ES RS is i-vtec which is not as wild as old school VTEC that you get in EGs, so you wouldnt feel the vtec kicking in that much..if i am not mistaken the ES is a LEV which would limit some performance.
  22. bro S stands for sport..in sport mode its normal that car goes in high revs before it changes to the next gear...when you are just drving around town use D mode then the car would behave just like any other car with an auto box...but when your bottom is on fire you'll defineatly need it on sport mode....
  23. hi mate, you really thought that punto sport was not that expensive, didnt you?

    Payback Time!

donno about the current prices of HID systems but about 1 year back went to a famous car modifying guy's garage and there he had a HID lighting system for sale.it was priced around RS.35000. but machan if you are going for HID system you'll deffa need to change the wiring as well, this is mainly due to the high amount of power that HID systems require, otherwise you'll end up frying the connectors and power wires that supply electricity to the head lights.just make sure that you go to a good place to buy the HID kit then ask them to do the installation as well. if you are just going for high power bulbs,say100W, then i suggest you to use two separate relays for each of the head lamps.this would help to supply additional power to the head lamps.I dont think that you'll need to do any mods to the alternator even if you go for a HID lighting system.anyway ill leave that part for an expert to answer..
