  1. I think he replied to the forum user "whatever".
  2. Used the E01 several times over the past few weeks. Pretty easy to spot the speed traps as there is a cop car or bike always around the vicinity. On one occasion the cop car was parked on the other side of the road while the 2 cops had evidently crossed over. They seem to radio in the number of the vehicle to the exit points after checking the speed gun. When I reached Pinnaduwa a cop with a paper came and checked my number while the toll booth was processing the fee. Saw a cop car crawling at a snails pace around the 21st km marker. When I reached Pinnaduwa I told one of them traffic cops about this and he said "one of our patrol cars". Not sure why they were going so slow :S
  3. Fuzzo, Were you there at the colombo event? I only could make it on sunday evening just in time to watch the DOTA/CS finals. But hung around until the presentation was over though.
  4. I bought the shocks at 5.6k or so but this was months back. The day i was buying, they mentioned that the price was increased to 6k+
  5. Hmm .. I more or less agree as i refitted all 4 shocks in my EK3 with KYB but still the ride seems stiff. Maybe next time I'll save up and go with the agents for originals.
  6. Ah ok .. Looking forward to meeting you at this event.
  7. I'll be there at the Colombo event for sure machang. Do u play DOTA or CS for any clan btw?
  8. Your talking about the WCG local qualifiers? I think it will be a 5 member Counter Strike team which will be sent to China. But good fun for others also to get into the scene and play some competitive CS / DOTA.
  9. I have a 96 EXI (Manual) which does about 9-10 in moderate driving conditions.
  10. Tai Hoe is highly recommended as my parents stay there during their twice a year trips to Singapore. Now the rate for double i think is 90S$+ ...
  11. i dont think we can expect much quality from the work done ... short term planning seems the default mode of governance same here bro ... we have full scale political discussions at office as well .... gets quite interesting at times
  12. this is on until an election comes up ... then everybody becomes down to earth public servants and the common mans interests are shown to be the priority. It's pathetic that general population outside colombo falls for these lies. On the SAARC summit, its disgusting that the roads can be mended in a hurry to impress foreign leaders while the same repairs could have been planned and done to benefit the SL motorists.
  13. I'm not sure if digi cam evidence is admissable in court in case push comes to shove. But if it helps the police officer to get a better understanding and act accordingly, its a bloody good idea.
  14. "Therefore there should be some 70kmph speed distances on the way too. But if you concentrate on the 50kmph speed limits shown throughout, it is logically correct to assume the overall speed limit for the whole way from Colombo to Negombo is just 50kmph, as there are no 70kmph signs. " look out for the 50 sign with a line crossing it indicating that you are now no longer required to maintain 50 but can go upto 72. I have heard cops having speed traps just before this sign so that any argument the motorist brings can be promptly shot down by just pointing at the sign
  15. Yes this happened to me as well ... the bill doubled and the amount of units are almost same on average ... we have called and asked clarification and the explanation was that there was a 30% surcharge according to the consumption bracket we are in etc etc ...
  16. I think its more likely 10-15 rupees now. Not very sure exactly how much though. Anybody else knows for sure?
  17. i dont think this guy understands that most race cars use over priced petrol (due to subsidized diesel) which implies that the consumer has paid for his share of fuel plus contributed to the economy by paying for part of the diesel susidy. if i'm not mistaken, the more petrol sold at profit gives more cash for the goverment to subsidize diesel. which implies the more petrol we use, the far better chance it is to sustain current diesel price meaning the common man doesnt have to go through any transport related price hikes due to the loss the petrol corp makes. (pls correct me if i'm wrong)
  18. Very true. Best bet is to go with the guy to the bank itself and do the transaction there. Once the bank draft is deposited, you can find out from the bank itself if the cash came through to your account. Just get the transfer papers from RMV initially and have the general sections filled up. Once you have a buyer you have to put in his name/address/ID# etc in the form. you keep one particular sheet while he retains another form. (i cant quite recall which is which) But there has to be 2 witnesses signing both buyers and sellers copies. Finally to be on the safe side, have a stamped letter ready stating that you have sold the particular car to the stated party for stated sum and get his signature on the stamp.
  19. i used to have 2 bats and 3 stumps in the boot always for about 2 years cos me and ma pals used to play every sunday. must keep them stuff in the boot again even though we dont play no more
  20. hi ripper, if by any chance you need any info on clarion setups let me know as i did some research on them before purchase. also, hooking up an ipod via a usb slot to the headunit is a general bad idea unless "ipod direct control" support is present via headunit itself. else u'll need a recommended adapter. but some of these adapters are quite pricey
  21. if your looking at hooking your ipod + pen drive to a pioneer then check out deh-p7950ub. it has USB connection plus ipod aux (adapter necessary as far as i know). else you can check deh-p6950ib (minus the USB). i think first set up it more towards 30k and the latter is more towards 20k ... not sure about exact pricing though. i was on the hunt for a headunit that can be hooked up to ma ipod as well. in the end settled for a clarion. let me know if u need further details.
  22. I've always wondered .... Is there a ground unit designating the target via laser on these bombing missions? Deep penetration units will have to get pretty close to the target area for this i assume (unless of course there are long range lasers) and how difficult is it to mingle among terras in such circumstances? Anybody know anything concrete on this?

    Fog Lights?

Thats right. I have seen a ticket with a chap who had extra illumination in his car. Ticket stated "amathara pahan dalwa dawanaya kireema" .... i've always wondered if this was in that list of traffic offences in the ticket or something just made up to give a ticket which they are pretty sure wont be challenged in court. Anybody know if having extra illumination under the driving lights is illegal for sure?
  24. well ... it does spread a little cheer and hope that the war would be soon over which makes the common man temporarily forget the rising cost of living .... personally i'm not that optimistic about a quick finish when looking at how Israel (with a much more advanced military) is still fighting with the Hamas group. Even though they eliminated a few leaders via gunships/rockets the group seem to be still active ...
  25. Went for this in the evening ... some lovely cars and SUV's on display. But noticed that some stalls were being organized. So i guess it will be on full song tmrw and day after.
