it depends on the "cost of your capital" (how you are going finance/collect-cash and opertunity cost)

What Is The Significance Of ‘bhp’ Value Of An Engine?
Yasith replied to Yasith's topic in General Automotive
As an exercise I compared three cars Maruti 800, Maruti Alto Lxi, and Chery QQ Maruti 800: 795cc; 37bhp@5000; 59Nm@2500; 650kg Maruti Alto Lxi: 795cc; 47bhp@6200; 62Nm@3000; 740kg Chery QQ: 812cc; 52bhp@6000; 70Nm@3500-4000; 880kg Therefore, Effy Values are… Maruti 800: 0.8004 Maruti Alto Lxi: 0.8199 Chery QQ: 0.9189 What about the Torque value, how does it affect the efficiency? Does it mean lower the Torque lower the fuel consumption, And does it have to do anything with cars ability to run in difficult terrains, going up-hills...etc? -

What Is The Significance Of ‘bhp’ Value Of An Engine?
Yasith replied to Yasith's topic in General Automotive
Hi Ruwan, this is what I was exactly looking for, thanks a lot. Is this implies that when you are looking for more efficient engine, you should go for bhp value than the cc value? -
Can somebody explain the significance of ‘bhp’(Brake horsepower) value of a engine and its’ impact on performance of the Car? It is bit confusing. For example Micro Trend has 1075cc engine it only gives 45 bhp, while Maruti 800cc engine gives 35 bhp. On the other hand Chery QQ 812cc engine gives 51 bhp.

If he really want to see local motor industry to boom…all he have to do is give TAX holydays to all local car manufactures and cut-off VAT (let’s say for ten years). This will add definite competitive advantage to local manufactures such as TransMec and c******o (in future DPMC???). Further it will give these manufactures some time to establish there brand at least in Sri Lanka. Further it will give definite advantage in foreign markets (I mean then these manufactures can start exporting these cars) Just asking Government authorities to buy local cars will not establish any competitive advantage to manufactures. OR it will not make general public to buy these cars……as manufactures knows how Sri Lankan governments function, they will not increase production, knowing next year govt may reverse the decision. Therefore they will not invest in new production facilities, new models or increase capacity. Therefore, no increase in production, but high in demand from the government will result in lower the number of unit available for general public (for exports). Therefore this will result in widen the gap between these manufactures and general market. As far as I believe, what motor industry in Sri Lanka need is stable economic environment where they can invest with out any doubt in mind AND opportunity to build competitive advantage over other SE Asian manufactures. And what I believe is government should act to build better economic environments to industries, NOT just act as big customer. As always Mr. President is just acting like a usual Sri Lankan politician (short-time benefits), not as a leader who can lead the country to prosperity. This type of statement will be adding attractiveness to budget (in general publics’ eye). This is same as asking govt authorities to buy Sri Lankan Software from last year’s budget, the question is did it results in boom in Software industry….nah!

what about Nissan March K11; it is in your range if you are going for brand new indian cars your only option will be Maruti 800 (1.02 millions); and do you think there is/will be a good market for used indian cars (i mean indian used cars.....which may be 2,3 years old at the moment) in 4,5 years (all together 6,7 years)
