Good choice, Yes it's capable of everything you want and more from a SUV. Apart from purchase cost, consider the cost of insurance+fuel.(Yes they are very thirsty whatever fuel they burn.) The pick of the bunch - the Montero Exceed with Duel A/C Good luck!

Q: Didn't the battery shop test the car for proper charging voltage after the battery was replaced? (min 13.5v) The battery is the last thing you should replace when it is not charging. Start by checking the alternator output by an electrician. The charging system may not be charging the battery to the right level, Start with checking battery connectors for proper mounting/tightness and oxidization. It is possible that your car may have had the charging system issue for some time.and may have played a part in the previous prob as when the car's electrical system is connected pretty much everything in a modern car ,... And yes the cooling fans have electric motors powering them. TT.

What To Look For When Buying A Bwm E46
Twin Turbo replied to FredC's question in Car Buying Information
.It's all ways advisable to do a bumper to bumper inspection by a person who knows Beemer's.I suppose you're asking of the 320d. This engine cooling fan - , even though longitudinally mounted, has an electric cooling fan (single pull-type).when that dies, both A/c and engine will suffer. Crankshaft harmonic balancer (vibration damper) - known for failure. Turbocharger - known to fail with use. check for proper-operation as the thing is spinning at speed even at idle engine.. Clutch - check for operation and biting point. Rear suspension sub-frame - rare failure repaired under warranty. The suspension would have worn/noisy bits due to age/mileage - specially front lower arms/bushes. Alloy wheels deform from falling into pot holes A dealer maintained car is worth looking for. Good luck! TT. P.s, Everything which can go wrong , does. it's just like any other car, -
No Crank Position Sensor signal to ECU, No ignition = dead engine. Check the wiring or replace the sensor. TT.

All modern cars are good .As long as they have good maintenance,..as most of our users have a drive till-fall apart attitude. Good Luck. TT.

Gear Shift Not Smooth - 2004 Civic Es8 Exi (1.5Cc)
Twin Turbo replied to manbes8's question in Mechanical problems
Your car is in need of serious attention. When did you last service your transmission,..? Get immediate attention. TT. -
Going through your post, I feel you're in the time of Henry Ford, where the unfortunate person who purchased an "Automobile-" had to become the Service manager and mechanic for his car. In the 21st Century, we leave our car Maintenance to qualified and authorized personnel. Having said that, why ask us if you want to go to the dealer? I end my after thought with A disclaimer , The "Agent" will be the Agent irrespective of the fact they get it right or wrong, As every dealer has a secret history of screw-ups swept under the rug and known only the unfortunate victims-Aka the customers while other outside specialists will prob do pretty much the same for less. P.s. No pun intended to you or anyone in this thread. TT.

Your prob sounds like inadequate cooling is leading to the A/c efficiency reducing when it's hot, might also lead to low gas in the system due to the high operating temps,..run the engine with the A/c and look for non working cooling fans` Get this looked at ASAP before more damages happen as a result. P.s. hope the heater is not slightly turned on. There's lots a capable places mentioned here for A/c work Good luck! TT.

Fantastic choice of engine! Better look for a front -cut. as you'll find a lot you'll need for the conversion Apart from the engine, you'll need the transmission, radiator, coil, wiring, hoses and numerous parts. Does your car have Power Steering? Also recommend upgrading the brakes to match the performance. p.sThis engine was offered in the BG series.and may be a tight fit.. you may start your search from Wijerama/Delkanda . Good luck!

Since when did High Co levels become legal anywhere on Earth? + The dude failed his emissions test because of "Issue. hi CO values ( Idle 5.5/ RPM 5.78)

.It is highly possible that the white smoke is caused by oil burning in the combustion chamber Ger spark plugs of a higher heat range witth the other stuff together and get some more mileage till the inevitable overhaul.
-
.Do you have the catalytic converter in the exhaust? If my calculations are correct, your car is 25 years old. when did you last change the spark plug wires? Get a good set installed.Clean the air mass meter. use regular petrol, add a cleaner bottle to the tank the next time you fill up. Also , get a high Performance spark plug set. As a more powerful spark is useful in fully combustion of the fuel given to the engine. These will be much cheaper than an engine overhaul which you will eventually need down the road. Don''t worry abt the white smoke. is the engine burning oil? Then put a thicker viscosity oil next service. Keep it cool and try these and check the emissions. the accuracy of the testing equipment is also questionable. So get the test first done from the tester who gave you the high results and go to another place and compare.

.If you car has been modded to run cooler by removing the thermostat valve and or running the radiator fan full time. the ECU will think the engine needs warming up and increase the fuel ratio to the engine continuously. Check if the engine is running cool after reaching operating temp .

Sad to read the dilemma with the turbo. remove the turbo +Clean the pressure oil feed line. And crank/start the engine.oil should flow like an open tap!if not it's blocked. The oil is good. Nothing wrong with viscosity ,type etc,. .The repeated turbo failures in your case as pointed out by the manufacturer could very well be due to lack of lubrication. as the unit has only one moving part! (the bearing shaft with the turbine and impeller.) Why not get a ball bearing turbo? it'll virtually eliminate the oil starvation prob. While you are at it add a turbo lube kit and for good measure, a turbo timer. The local dealer is limited by the regulations and their dealership rules from the manufacturer .So they can't modify the car. And fully lubricate any turbo before fitting Good luck TT.

Vw Bora Engine Grinding Sound Above 2000Rpm And Ticking Sound When Idle
Twin Turbo replied to vishwa.j's question in Mechanical problems
Good advice Shermon ! -
P.s. Do take cost into account as you may have already replaced the unit with a used unit.
-
Changing ATF with what ever at this stage may not give you the miracle-cure you're looking for. But you can surely try. Good luck., TT,.
-
Any idea of what ATF was used ? as Honda insist on their own stuff.
