Having said that, Finding a Car that will hold up to It's reputation is another problem. Older Daihatsu's have been seen with Corrosion probs if not looked after. The non turbo models will feel slow if you don't rev to the proper RPM before changing gear. A good condition diesel turbo 1.0 Will make any 1.5 petrol car feel like a moped. There are Daihatsu specialists for parts in Kohuwala and "watte" not any differant in prices when compared with any other jap car. The Agency has been taken over By a reputed company in the IT industry and are trying to get back the market lost by the previous agent' who ran the show like a Rural Co Operative shop.

The irritating noise If is most probarbly due to the compressor running "dry" due to a leak in the system before. remove the comp and re lub it, biu cannot give a guarentee as the internals would have got fried. best repair is to replace the comp if you can't live with the noise.

the short answer is yes, having said that you must make sure the existing engine is in good condition to get a turbo conversion. it may be be better for you to get a complete engine +transmission kit from a used parts dealer. Also make suitable modifications /alterations to the rest of the car to make it sfe to cope with the increase in power from the engine, 1. The cooling system - increase it's efficiency( larger rad, extra cooling fans etc.) 2. Clutch and drive system (new turbo engine clutch kit at a min) 3. Exhaust - enlarge the exhaust all the way to accomadate higher flow, 4. Brakes - Service /Modify to get more efficiency 5. Suspension - I guess you'll be going round bends as fast as you go straight ( high rate dampers +Anti roll bars) 6. tyres - the stock 165/13 should br replaced with some thing with a wider foot print. 7. get a fresh air intake installed while ur at it, Sorry if I forgot anything, Keep me posted ,

what brand you choose, the sigh levals of sun exposure + airpollutants in Colombo will make ANY wiper rubber useless in a short while , It is best to get an average wiper set and get refills ( rubber only) every three months , or when the wipers show signs of aging. Remember the car you drive is more valuable than the wipers. replace them before you live to regret it.

What ever the configuration of brakes you have, all cars have by design have more brake force to the front.But I have seen some makes of brake pads have more friction than others. make sure ALL brake lines are completely bleeded. Start with the rear wheels. and have the rear shoes adjusted with the hand brake cable loosned. then adjust the hand brake, not the other way round. your car does not have ABS so the wheels getting more pressure (Front) will lock, make sure in the car still skids to a stop in a straight line when brakes are applied in testing. And I don't have to mention the importance of using good quality brake fluid. Replace brake fluid every two years. Happybraking.
