  1. Agree with GTAm's post. I too observed this & mostly pump from Lfs Koswatta, Battaramulla, Pelawatta. A full tank from Pelawatta is always more than 42ltrs while other 2 is between 40 - 41ltrs. I usually fill when low fuel indicator comes up & pump a full tank.
  2. Had a manual 1600cc brand new import about a year back & Used to get 10kmpl in moderate traffic & could achieve 15kmpl on outstation trips (Colombo - Wellawaya, Kataragama) Very good A to B car, bought it at 70000km & sold at 130000km didn't have any problem other than usual running repairs/maintenance. Only con to mention is the front suspension bushes which need to be replaced at every 10000km if you hate to hear rattling noises, but this is not an expensive or time consuming job. You may find more info if you do a search on other threads.
  3. Autolanka Ranks 33 in SL as per Alexa.com http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/autolanka.com No 1 in SL automobile. CONGRATULATIONS to Team Autolanka.
  4. Very True. On the other hand who knows whether it was clocked by the previous owner who sold it to the car sale. In any case, buyers should not trust the milage on the odo meter unless it is supported by service records. Better go by the condition.
  5. Not sure. All what people in the trade say. They are also not sure yet. Hope we will know by tomorrow.
  6. From what I hear, If the vehicle has been inspected & taxes calculated (submitted customes docs) you are safe. Otherwise the new rates will be applicable.
  7. Sorry Man I don't have one for sale. Try the photo classified section. PS I would not sell if I had one till the info is verified & market settled.
  8. There are rumors going on about increasing the import tax of vehicles. Did not want to cerate a new topic as it is not confirmed. Apperantly Customs are not releasing vehicles today & this will be applicable to hybrids as well.
  9. I found the following in some literature about Prius & thought would be useful. "The emergency shut off system blocks off the high voltage current and stops the fuel pump to minimize the risk of electrocution & fuel leakage when a certain level of impact is detected by the impact sensor. If the emergency shut off system activates, vehicle will not restart. To restart the hybrid system, contact your dealer" Since our local agents are not ready yet, I think the Prius users here will have to be carefuill not exceed the set level of impact.
  10. No. It was running slow. Replacing the fan solved the prob. What happens is AC is being switched off by the high pressure relay.
  11. I had a simila problem & problem was faulty cooling fan. Check your cooling system if the temperature is too high when you encounter the problem.
  12. I don't know the resons for the differences, but those prices are correct & reliable. One reason may be that they got it as soon as the tax was reduced and may be CIF price was lower at that time.
  13. I checked with few who cleared ther cars (personnely imported) and the approximate prices they got are as follows. These vehicles were cleared about 2 weeks back. Axio X grade white 2007- 3.3M+ Axio X grade Silver 2007 - 3.3M- Axio G grade Beige 2007 - 3.6M+ Axio G Grade White 2008 - 3.8M- But they say now the auction prices may be higher & hence price could be around 4M. If any of you found any comparative prices for unreg at car sales pl share the details.
  14. IMO what matters is not number of registered owners but the number of owners on open papers. One would register the car only if he intends using it and will maintain it well. Those who runs on open papers will never attend to any mechanical repairs that does not add value to selling price (unless it brakes down). They will do some cosmetic things & try to sell at a profit. Better go by the condition and never by (OR sell) on open papers.
  15. I typed my thoughts & deleted as now it could be dissing. Dont want to chain the car when parked.
  16. No this is not dissing advert. Actually you are giving an opertunity to the seller to promote the product free of charge by defending his case now. Hope he will take the challenge & prove how it works. If he does well lot of AL members will go for it.
  17. My experience is, you shouldn't go by the interest rates quoted by these companies as there are different ways of applying /calculating the rates. Always compare initial payment, monthly payments (Iinclusive of any taxes, stamps, etc.) & period. some time you end up paying more with a company quoting a lower rate than a one with little higher rate.
  18. If you are fixing a SA system insists for the wiring diagram & installation guide from the supplier (normally comes with the equipment). Then if you have problems with it & if the supplier is not helping you, you can get a knowledgeable technician to remove the system without much hassle. My advice is do not buy if they refuse to give you the technical details. (They normally don't give this because the literature contains ways of temporarily deactivating the system, incase it malfunctions or the remote is lost. They don't want wrong hands to have this info. But my argument is you should know what they are fixing on your car)
  19. Good Luck. Pl post some pics if you buy that. 1500 manual supersaloon is very rare.
  20. Ya but note that this is 2001. 2003 model tail lights & boot lid is different 2004 model shell is also different. I think 1300CC and 1600CC are Brandnew & 1500CC is a Jap domestic model and is considered to be beter than BN.
  21. Yes. There are about 10 Manual Supersaloons in my company. One was sold before tax revision for 2.4M and another one was sold for 2.05M last week. But most of these cars are 1300CC & users are complaining about pulling power when AC is on. Fuel consumption of 1300CC (8-10kmpl) is much lower compared to 1600CC (11-13kmpl). The cars sold were 2004/2005 models. You check the difference in prices between 1300CC & 1600CC with agents and it is about 0.7M with same options. I think specs for 2 categories are different & it is not only the engine. Try to find a 1600CC agents maintained car and you will have no worries.
  22. YOM: 2004 Make /Model Nisssan/N16 Transmission: Manual Engine: QG-16 City Driving: 10 km/l Outstation: 14 km/l
  23. Seen this accident last week at Ward place. I do not know either party but thought of posting it as it is a typical bus driver. [img=http://img228.imageshack.us
  24. One my friend sold his car to a car sale & what he did was to fill the forms in the name of the sale owner & agreed to not send copies to RMV till 3 months, if he find buyer within 3 months, to cancel the signed papers & sign a new set of forms in the name of new buyer. I think this fine with seller, car sale & new buyer as all the parties know what is happening. just my 2 cents.
  25. NISSAN N16 - Manual gear, 1600CC In heavy traffic (coming from Battaramulla to Fort office time) - 10km/ltr Outstation (16km/ltr) moderate driving, cheked by topping up the tank from Athurugiriya, travelled to Embilipitiya & back refilled at same place.
