Yes mostly outstation runs and early morning week end drives. A 1.4L Swift will have the same tax as a Audi Q3/A4/A5 so who would want to get one The reason I went with the Corolla was the 1.2L engine and I only had to pay Rs. 265K over the permit so it made sense. I basically I paid only for the car. As no one from SL was interested I got the car for around Yen 1 Mn. less than what it would have cost new. It was used with 6k on the clock auction grade 5.

Few Corolla Sports around. Got mine personally imported on my better half's permit for mainly her use. Fell in love with the thing much better in town and highway than the Macan.

my BIL had a Vitz which he ran like a taxi, serviced at makabas with what ever the oil and filter of cause at 5000k interval when it was sold had over 140K on the clock with solid engine, no oil leaks, smoke, drop in oil level. Gear box was as good as when it was new. These cars are built to last and they do

Totally agreed, however if you know what youre doing and get the parts from reputed places other than the agents there will be substantial savings. There are reputed places who deal in genuine parts for most mainstream brands. For instance brake pads for Corolla 141 was around Rs. 24k at TL and i got them from G* M****s for half price few yeras back. Thay also has the compatible for Rs. 4500 if any one wanted to be a cheapo. If you get the KYB it will be significantly cheaper and most probably OEM cold be KYB too You need to do your research / shop around and especially if you need to spend significant sum always get a second openion even if cost you bit more. I dont think Japan produces parts anymore (may be few like the engine stuff) most of the stuff could be from Thailand/ China... if they are OEM i dont think one should worry too much

Going through review I realize how similar the car is to the Corolla Sport, mine came with TRD body kit which reduces the already low ground clearance by further 20mm you get used to drive with care and avoid certain roads/ places can be a pain if it is your only car. kmpl similar engine perky throughout the rev range/ damn CVT ruins the whole experience. Safety nanny can be pain in the a** couple of times it did not allow me to reverse the vehicle to the road Traffic keep up feature useless as it keeps too much distance with the car in front and slow down is too aggressive and not at all comfortable. Radar cruise and steering assist is excellent in the highway car can virtually drive it self. Handling excellent, grip from 225/40/18, sport seats gives excellent side support, steering could be little more direct although not bad for a Jap (Toyota). Wish it had little more power may be 150bhp + Rear space and boot space may not be not up to Civic Runs happily on 92, a substantial saving when you do 20K km / year Hope get better resale in 3-4 years being a Toyota with a 4 port engine Good alternative to Civic
-
Not a good first car if you do not know about cars or passionate about the subject. From the questions seems your are not Stick to a Jap

You may have got a lemon in the first place, how reliable was the original mileage in the clock when you brought the car. Vitz engine should give reliable 150-200K with out issues and will stand to abuse. Seem you have overpaid for shocks KYB should be around 30-35K max for all 4 for a Vitz Mounts seems excessive too

Vitz 2007 KSP90 3 cyl. 1000cc engine vibration story
kush replied to Monkey King Stu's topic in TOYOTA
I used to to my regular service every 10k km / 6 months for the petrol/ 5k km/3 month on diesel on my previous vehicles Now go by the agent recommendation as they are on warranties I feel even the agents just go by one schedule may be generalized for typical conditions they are not at all flexible. For instance i had to service my previous Picanto every other month as it was clocking 2500km month, on part highway and urban (never on heavy traffic) when i suggested 10k service as per the service schedule in the owners manual they never even bothered to give an explanation. I felt it was totally unnecessary and they just wanted to make money by servicing. Needless to say I changed the car as the servicing cost was substantial. Now I look at the service interval when I change the car (daily runner) -

Sad to hear about your story, generally Vitz is a very reliable car. My BIL had one a 2004 imported in 2008 with 24K on the clock. He used it for 9 year ran 135k with no major issues. Just routine maintenance apart from shocks around 80K and engine mounts 120K which is expected with age and mileage. -
There is only one news item on this No information of the Treasury or Customs web Although this was on the cards from the last budget days it was newer formalized, as far as I know there is a huge pile of unsold stocks Considering the elections are round the corner very unlikely that they will do any change

Another set of idiotic tax may be on the way. How do you define luxury from a brand, for instance Toyota Crown for me is a luxury car, Mercedes C class is not. Ideal will be based on CIF for instance for sub Rs. 1.0 Mn, 1.0-2.0 Mn., 2.0-4.0 Mn. and so on System should have the capacity to capture options as this adds significant value to CIF May not be ideal but will be much better than the current system.

5w30 will be bit thinner than 10w30 at cold start, until engine gets warmed up to ideal temperature gaps between bore and pistons, valves will be bit more and it is possible to engine to burn little oil at a cold start. Keep an eye on oil level if it is not reducing I don't think you have anything to worry about.

kush replied to mcvidanagama's topic in User Manuals & Service Manuals
Is it for you to fix it to another car, or to replace the set with a aftermarket. Try searching Toyota wiring diagrams it comes with standard connector for audio Following might help to identify the connections -
Hope it will be good to drive as the Corolla Sport

Time in the head unit is from GPS cannot change, it will show Japan time

Check For Pending Parking Fines Before You Buy Your Next Used Vehicle
kush replied to JayZ's topic in General Automotive
From little i know about the law To get details about the owner from RMV thy will need a court order Then RMV will give details, if Tenaga lawyers has little bit of brains they should ask for details of owners who had the possession at the time of violation. If they go to that stage then you can always deny charges and proving their claim will be with Tenaga lawyers, they will need evidence. As Crosswind says i don't think they stand a chance. Unless the defendant accept the charge.- 12 replies

Check the air filter, filter housing and hoses, clips connecting the housing to the intake manifold. Check the breather pipe, vacuum pipe connecting to the brake servo (technically you should feel decrease in brake assist if anything wrong) These are the issues i could think of

Considering the vintage of the vehicle you might not get this at Delkanda. If you cant find it you might have luck in Kurunegala area. I don't think anyone will be able to give a specific shop, you will have to walk around and see. Take a printout

kush replied to JayZ's topic in General Automotive
They can't take the car to courts, so it has to be the previous owner. Risk is to the previous owner until the car get transferred.- 12 replies

All these need to be fixed, can be done outside the agent for fraction of the price. Steering problem is common, you should be able to get a brand new one from guys importing parts from Thailand, so is the radiator, recommend replacing both of them for safety of you and the engine. These are common issues on a car over 10 years old don't worry too much since the other areas seems to be in good nick.

I think it is a good option, has a very good following in UK In SL context since it is a "Nissan" it will be looked down upon by so so ""Toyota/ Honda"" clan. In fact I was considering this for my self then i decided on the Corolla Sport we did not want two SUVs in the family. New face lifted comes with 1.3L engine, plus you will get the warranty and technical support of the agent. And will be within your budget

You cant match the original unit unless you have a very deep budget I was fortunate to get the SD card (importer shipped it separately with the extra key) Once you get used to the menu with little bit of juggling and google translate frustration goes off I have Toyota NSZT-Y66T which has only Japanese menu (no option to change the language) 9" of HD display, FM up to 95, CD/DVD, SD, Bluetooth of cause TV and Navi which does not work here Initially I was not happy with the sound quality then i discovered it was in default, toggling around the menus I found settings that has so many customization options that i have never seen in any of the aftermarkets even at higher end. My only issue us that the unit does not play FLAC, not bothered about Navi as I have got used to the phone Best is to use the unit for couple of months to see whether you really want a change.

Sweet spot for the permit is 1200cc petrol or 1500cc hybrid hence the 3008/5008/CH-R/ Corolla Sport or Aqua/ Axio/ Fit/ Grace/ Vezel/ or New Insight (expensive though) 1300-1500 you get a good choice from the likes of Civic/ CRV/ Audi../ BMW.. / Mercs although personally you will not benifit much unless you're using your own permit
-
There is nothing in that price range for the permit You can get a 1.0L T Audi A3/Q2 or a VW, tax will be less than the cost of the permit
