These cars are not economical as the size suggest both will do around 9-10 Colombo, 12-15 Outstation. Info from family and friends who has them. My personal car is a 2007 Swift 1240 CC CVT does around the same. But I hev been told that the Indian versions are better, may be due to the manual gear shift.

Check the ads here, sunday papers you should be able to get a good idea. Cars available here are made in Japan / India All Indians are manual and has a diffrent engine

1) & 2) M13A 1.3 L (1,328 cc); bore is 78.0 mm and stroke is 69.5 mm. 68 kW (91.2 hp) @5,800 rpm, 116 N·m (86 lb·ft) @4,200 rpm M15A 1.5 L (1,490 cc); bore is 78.0 mm and stroke is 78.0 mm. 74.5 kW (99.9 hp) at 5,900 rpm and 133 N·m (98 lb·ft) at 4,100 rpm. 3) Since you are considering a 2004 it will anyway be a second hand with the initial depriciation taken care of, finding a manual will be like looking for a needle in hay stack as most of the Japs came with Auto, selling a auto will be equally difficult. Howver manual will be a treat to drive and most problably better of fuel.

My wife had one which she used for about 4 years. 2000 model 1.0 auto CVT. Used to do around 10-11 in Colombo and 13-15 in long drives. Only issue was the electric power steering which was replaced. Now i think the car is little dated (over 10 years) so you might have rust, electrical issues. Most of the cars would have covered over 100k and pesonally you might be better off with a newer car like a Viva/ Alto which might be only couple of 100k brand new against a 10 year old used car. If you still want the March then check the steering, front suspension, CVT gear box (if equiped), rust (they start around the engine compartment near suspension assembly)

Oil pressure guage would be usefull too

Please keep us posted on the outcome

Strange problem, they might have damaged brake lines / ABS wireing when drilling holes for fixing the seats. This could cause the computers to shut down the systems for safty. First go underneath the vehicle and do a visual check, better get it checked by agents / expert.

1.To my knowledge Pistons, valves, gasket and the injector pump are diffrent from the stock 2C. 2.There will be a increase in power even with the stock engine, however you will wear out the engine fast. 3.Yes, it will not be a proper conversion you will gain more engine power however gearing and breaks might not be able to handle the extra power. 4.you will need extra cooling as the engine will now generate more heat. 5.Depends on the driving conditions if you are a hard footer you might even see a improvement. 6.Not really when you consider the down sides. Unless you go for the full conversion ie. engine, transmission, electronics, cooloing. (expensive)

Good point, forums can be very useful to share info/ ideas. It is sad to see that it is being used to ridicule others so much so the purpose is lost. After all majority of the population are not petrol heads

Your modifications must have improved your fuel consumption cos my same car with stock specs does only 10 km/l in Colombo. I have verified the AVG readings and they are pretty accurate +/- 5% Have they removed your Cat when fixing the beat silencer, that would improve power/ fuel consumption

Will be difficult to find outside. Try U****d M****s they might be cheaper than you think. Best is to get it down from Singapore/Malayasia/Thailand

There are few Nissan Z,Skyline, Toyota MR2, MRS, Toyota is200, Honda Civic R, VW Golf Gti around might not be very economical but good sports cars with power and handling. Price range will be around 2-3 Mn. (I'm not refering to the latest models) I have seen couple of BMW 325i E36 which should be pretty good.

Dude it takes at least 3-4 weeks for them to register and deliver the vehicle after it arrives (personal experiance of a friend), apperantly there is a delay at customs in inputing the data in to the system.
-
Typical UML things have not even changed after 4 years, this is the usual s**t i got from them when i ordered my vehicle in 2007. They said it will be deiverd in October 2007 actual delivery Feb 2008. I lost about Rs. 300k due to yen appriciating. My advice come to Colombo go to the show room start making a secne then they will direct you to a higher up get a commitment from the fellow.

Go for a nice looking but standard size 15 inch. Even with the standard profile 185/60x15 ride quality is bit poor on badly surfaced roads. Swift Sports has 5 stud wheels insated on 4 studs in the standard car.
-
It indicates faulty ABS, breaks will work however without ABS. Better get it checked, i suggest you go to A*W they will have they will be able to diagnose the exact fault. My guess faulty ABS wheel sensor it is the most common fault.

Yep the best I could find from auto trader for a Land Cruiser which could be imported to SL was GBP 24,000/-, even if you deduct the VAT it will be around GBP 20,400/- (Rs. 3.7 Mn.) Insurance and Freight will be another GBP 1,500/- or so. This is not a business that anyone could just get in to several of my friends found this the hard way to see that they would have been better off buying the car from a dealer here.

At T****A L***A they don't allow you near the car, so you really don't know what they do with your car. New CVT boxes no, dipstick, no filler cap only the drain nut is there obviously due to extended change interval. Toyota 141 ATF oil change according to the manual is due every 80,000 km (48 Months) Whoever services make sure you use recommended oil some CVT’s need special oils which could cost over Rs. 15-20 k / liter.
-
T****A L***A will check your car and advice you, they support recon vehicles imported as major share of their service revenue come from them. For a fee they will even verify your milage as this information is also stored in the cars ECU. CVT oil interval changes with the type of CVT box you have, my Suzuki Swift it is 165,000 km. And also the type of oil vary with each model. My advice go to the agent, if you use the wrong oil you will ruin your gear box.

What's the difference in Indian and Japan Swift ? Everything except the shape
-
As far as i know 141 CVT box does not need oil changes. I would advice you to check with the local agent they will advice you, do not take advice from Maka Bass / local service. Modern CVT requires special oils which are very expensive

There are supercharger kits, chip upgrades available for the Swift Sports,
