  1. Vitz - new model is already out Belta / Terios will get replace next year Honda City is a new model 3-5 down the line what would you think will have the higher value
  2. I had a similar situation sometime back which was finally sorted when we found a loose nut inside alloy wheel. If not for the flat tyre we would never have found the cause.
  3. The is no GLS for CS1, only GL and GLX
  4. I had a 2002 which i used from 2004-2008, when i sold the car it had 155k on the clock and only the front shocks were replaced. Price will depend on the year and the options. Go for the GLX they are fully loaded. 2002 model had factory A/W, CD Changer and Fogs, after 2002 they were locally fitted. Generally 1.5 Mn. - 2.5 Mn. i guess. Most of the GLs were given on hire purchse so check the history of the vehicle before purchse. If taken care there shouldnt be any issues, generally CS1 is a very relable car. Mine a 1.3 Manual used to give 10 in city and 12-14 outstation

    Prius Hybrid

If you take an Axio (G) in to the equation fuel saving over the 5 years could be off set with the low purchase price. And as an added benift the peace of mind on not having to worry about the resale value or potential expensive repairs. If you do a simple mathematical calcualtion one would have to run a Prius daily 90 km for at leaset 5 years to recoup the initial extra outlay of appriximalty Rs. 1.0 Mn. over an Axio (G). This is not considering the bank interest you could earn by depositing the Rs. 1.0 Mn. in the bank @ 10% (you will receive 1.5 Mn. in 5 years with interest) Prius does not make any financial sence at current prices.

    Prius Hybrid

The most important factor to consider in a car purchase should be depriciation. Who would want to buy a 3-5 year old Prius.
  7. Hi You cannot go those km/l figures, they are based on Japaneese official figures may be on test environment. In SL it will be totally diffrent for instance my Suzuki Swift ZC71S 1.2 CVT which is suppose to do over 20 km/l according the official Jap web site. I get only 9-10 km/l in city running. One lady in my office who takes the same route only get 10-11 km/l on her 2008 Vitz 1.0 CVT.
  8. I would say to go-ahead Korean vehicles have come a long way during the past years. Build quality is maybe equal or better than that of Japanese brands which are actually manufactured in Thailand. (Mitsubishi Montero Sport) Kia is owned by Hyundai or vise versa so basically mechanical parts are shared. Kia gives a three year warranty and Hyundai only 2 years. I would stay away from Santa Fe cos the replacement is due soon and by the time you get your vehicle it will be out dated. I had a Mitsubishi Lancer EX which we bought for the last permit and had several issues with the vehicle and my vehicle was not the only one, it was made in Japan. Japanese vehicles are not as reliable as they used to be. Best part is that the Korean vehicles are invoiced in USD so basically you will be cushioned for any upward movement in the currency value (Dollar is expected to come down or remain at current level against the Rupee) . Last time people who opened LC’s in JPY, Euro has to pay extra duty due to unfavorable exchange movements. With so many vehicles coming in to the country there is definitely going to be more importers and service centers catering to Korean vehicles in the future and the second hand market also will improve with time to come. Best part of the deal is you could buy a diesel SUV for little more that of a petrol Jap car
  9. hi with your budget best would be a 121,they have come down in price starting 2.2Mn.
  10. Hi Go with the KYB. My prvious was a CS1 and at 30K I had to replace the front shoks. KYB was 1/4 cost in 2004 and they have lasted over 100k and 6 years (according to the current owner of the vehicle) I wouild advice you to check on the rears before replacement cos they generally last over 100k. Hope this was helpful
  11. Hi guys Thought to getting general views of others on the frequent claims made on Toyota Corolla 141 (Brand New) being a failure. I think Toyota Lanka has imported over 4000 units since 2007 and I know some of them had covered over 50-60k. Anyone has any major issues, or is this false claims made by recon importers trying to put down the secondhand price.
  12. guys do you know that this 1.0l 1KR-FE has won sub 1.0l engine of the year from 2007 onwards for the last 4 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Engine_of_the_Year
  13. hi I owned a CS1 (GLX) 1.3 manual 2001 which i bought used just after 2 years with the first owner who has purchased it and maintained through agent. The car was extremely reliable and i had it till Jan 2008 (4 1/2) yrs. Only thing which was replaced for 6 1/2 and 85,000 km was the front dampers. Car was little underpowered so you have change down bit early for hills and overtaking however you get used to it. I regularly used it going up and down Colombo / Nuwara Eliya via Hatton 4 up with a week full of luggage. Car makes up for lack of power with good handling and comfort. Most of the CS1 are 1.3 and the early ones (2001-2002) are manuals, most of autos came in the face lift models post 2003. Early ones were fully loaded with factory 6 CD changer fog lamps alloys while post 2003 had locally fitted CD, alloys. Due to high depreciation they make good secondhand buys. Check the history of ownership many were given on hire purchase for companies and military.
  14. Good news for EX owners, UML is now replacing faulty ABS sensors under warranty. They have extended the warranty upto 3 years 40k for the ABS. My guess is that Mitsubishi has identified this as a problem, two of my uncles got them replaced yesterday.
  15. Hi, I had a CS1 Lancer for little over 4 years and only thing which reqired replacement was the two front shoks, even the a/c was still on original gas after 6 years. I recenly bumped in to the fellow who brough the car and he had trouble free motoring for the last year. CS1 is the 1300cc imported brand new by the company, you will find other varients imported from Japan and Singapore, I will recomend the brand new imports cos they are better suited for the local petrol. Most of the recon vehiles have GDI engines which have tendency to give trouble with age. Fuel economy will be in the region of 10 km/l in the city and about 12 km/l outstation. Ride and handling is better than average and has better room than most of the other cars in the class. Spareparts will be expensive from the local agent, but you will be able to find most of the parts outside. You will not be able to find anything else of similar age for the same price.
