well then you should have kept your opinion to yourself if you didn't want to hurt anyone....particularly at a site like autolanka where people come from differant races and religions...

well said..and it's hard to see how some sinhala buddhists can co-exist with the tamils or the muslims when they are un-willing to give equal rights to people of their same race... my mum is buddhist and dad is katholic, and I went to a school where the students came from various religions and races...so I am a firm believer of equal oppertunity for all,if a tamil or muslim or burger want to be the president they should have that oppertunity..people could reject them at the vote if they want to...but they should atleast be given a chance...

completely agree with you mate,we live in a society that craves for instant gratification...not for the greater good...IMO I too believe that if RW had been given a couple of more years in office we would have seen some positive results off his somewhat unorthodox approach(to sri lanka) in governing back then....
  12. hey Z machang, thanks for letting me know about this series...just finished watching all of it's clips on youtube..superb show...

Source-http://www.geekologie.com/2008/11/thanks_but_no_thanks_i_value_m.php Video- The device will support a portion of user's body weight whether they're crouching, walking or climbing stairs and is meant to help both those physically weakened with age or injury as well as workers who would need to reduce the stress on their bodies from heavy work or unusual positions. The device will support users within two inches of its preset 5-foot, 7-inch user height. The entire system, including its lithium ion battery and shoes, weighs 14.3lbs, and uses two electric motors to assist users' leg movement for up to two hours before a re-charge is required.
  14. well gpmac as you may know I am a professional building contractor and knowing my way around the field certainly helped but most of my cost cutting came from a little practical knowledge coupled with some open minded-ness... here are some of the ways i saved *I bought the ruins of a nearby rundown "walawwa" and an old church at a very cheap price,so the bricks and the doors & windows came from there. *No cement plastering done, only a clay coloured paint was applied...earlier we tried applying actual clay but it was washed away with rain *No tiling on the floor(except bathrooms of course),the floor is covered with a mixture of clay, mud and bullshit(don't delete mods,i really did use it) *I built the house in one go...in three months it was completed..building a house without inturruption in one attempt does have it's advantages...but you have to have the full cost on hand. yup she's a beauty isn't she...she's my pride and joy...here are some more pics
  15. yep almost didn't believe myself...this hydro assist thing in paper sounds pretty do-able...then again it might be a hoax here's a video of them supposedly testing it.....
  16. Source-http://www.geekologie.com/2008/11/the_scor...g_450horsep.php http://www.ronnmotors.com/cms/ The Scorpion gets its sting from a hydrogen delivery system the company calls H2GO. While cars like the Honda FCX Clarity and Chevrolet Equinox use hydrogen fuel cells to drive electric motors, the Scorpion uses electrolysis to convert water into gaseous hydrogen. The hydrogen is mixed with 91-octane gasoline to improve the fuel economy and reduce the emissions of the car's 3.5-liter internal combustion engine. Ronn Motors is confident that the sexy Scorpion will top 200 mph. The chrome-moly chassis and carbon-fiber body surrounds a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 in a car that weighs just 2,200 pounds. The engine was sourced from Acura -- it's the same mill found in the TL Type S, albeit turbocharged -- and mated to a six-speed gearbox. The car will set you back $150,000, and if 450 ponies isn't enough, another $100 grand will get you a tweaked version with another 150 horsepower.
  17. Don...this was designed by my father, raymond samarathunge..he is quite a well known architect around the island why do you ask?
  18. hey lakshank... a cheap holiday house doesn't have to be a hut all the time...a moderate house can be built cheaply if you spend your money wisely...... here's a pic of my weekend house i built facing the dummala-deniya lake in negombo.it has 4 bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a kitchen... and it only cost me 10 lacks(1 mil) to build the point i'm trying to prove is that if you are willing to do without the silly traditional building methods our people are obssesed with,(such as the fear of using clean beach sand)you can build a pretty moderate house very cheaply...just my opinion....
