  1. yep...Sylvi is correct. you can keep diesel in a plastic can without a fuss. I keep a good 3-4 litres at home for cleaning purposes in an old oil can. Alternatively one of my work colleagues bought a used steel jerry can from panchi for 4k. Chances are, you can pick one of for cheaper. If these sorta trips are common, it might be better to have a proper steel can.
  2. heh heh... you would be the best to advise on this route after all those frequent trips...
  3. MD called up the guys 250-270amp plant costs 130-160k. wire feeder etc all there. comes with after sales service and warranty These plants use CO2 as shielding gas instead of argon. 30kg cylinder alone costs 28k. Refill is some 6k odd. Now it explains why MIG welders haven't really caught up in SL Panchi joints have chinese units for 30k+..no warranty and no after sales support i suppose. Wondering for home use whether that sorta rig will work. Still need to get a bloody cylinder though
  4. machang argon refilling can be done by a plant near the oil refinery in sapugaskanda. that's pretty close to you... Although i'm not 100% sure...argon depletion has to be less than O2.... cos argon is released only when you pull the trigger to make a weld. unlike with O2 that's used to maintain a flame welding or not. this is the place... http://www.industrialgases.com.lk/ you can get your o2 from here too mate this place is on baseline road. gases, plants and accessories http://www.absonsexim.com/ this is another place in wattala that sells plants http://www.cnngrouplk.com/profile.htm
  5. as we discussed a while ago...best is to go for a mig welder unfortunately in SL it's just catching up...no more slag chip at and unlike stick welding, chances of burn through are less. not the best example but you get the idea
  6. great stuff mate. that crane is awesome! i too am thinking of buying a MIG gas welder. btw junior just saw your post and wants to know how much the Luigi car is guy is a major "Cars" fan
  7. i would try those panchi shops and see... also ebay have em for under $100
  8. If you haven't done up the injectors in a while, i wouldn't bother with fuel system cleaners. Just do a manual injector cleanup and adjust the injectors if they have lost tension in the springs. Sometimes, as it was the case for me somewhat recently...you'd need to replace the injectors. So pointless busting bucks on fuel system cleaners when you don't really know the condition of your injectors. As "yala" said....injectors aren't that pricey.
  9. the tank fuel vent is clogged! what happens is as fuel is drawn out of the tank, air must replace that space to keep from forming a partial vacuum. There is a vent in the tank to keep things balanced. Even this can cause stalling issues. I had a similar problem in my truck few months back. Truck would stall out every 300-400 metres or so. But at times it would run fine. cleaned the tank vent and problem solved.
  10. can be a bad clutch
  11. high power headlight LED bulbs are quite expensive at the moment. maybe the price was for one of those and not regular bulbs
  12. not really familiar with that motor but generally...black smoke means either there is too much of fuel being burnt or incomplete burn. Blue/white smoke indicates oil burn. Generally, when injector springs loose their tension....it ends up squirting more fuel into the chamber. result - bad fuel figures and black smoke. Clogged air filter too will result in black smoke since the fuel isn't getting enough air to fully burn. Another thing can be the injector pump. If the pump isn't providing enough pressure, fuel can be partially burnt. I'm assuming this is a mechanical fuel injection motor and not electronically controlled one.
  13. brake booster works off the intake vacuum generated by the motor in petrol engines. So if your carb is not setup properly the symptoms you describe can happen. it can be as simple as a vacuum leak somewhere.... i'd first check the vacuum line from the intake to the brake booster to see if there are any leaks, then the booster itself If that checks out...it should be the carb.
  14. sounds like a carby related issue.
  15. if i'm not mistaken, the car on top was formerly owned by a late president
  16. yep. mother of all diy project is about to start off thinking of doing up me xr at home it needs a new rear shock, some frame work, new paint, engine top end rebuild etc etc... going through the workshop manual to see whether i can all the tools to get the job done. never done any major engine work before
  17. 360 with kinect too might be good! using the game pad might be too complicated for a kid of that age. A PC too is a good option like many have said. Or one of those vtech laptops for kids....
  18. you really believe things are that innocent in this instance? I bet some morons took cuts and commissions from these suppliers and gave us crappy fuel cos they really wouldn't give a F. King won the war so anything and everything is ok for gullible fools. fyi, they have bought crappy diesel from the same supplier who gave us crappy petrol. Mind you that company was supposed to be black listed after the first incident. It sucks to be the people. we pay taxes, support fancy lifestyles of our so called leaders, pay good money for fuel and in turn...get our vehicles too busted and you feel sorry for the government?
  19. good to know...pumped tank full of super diesel last night from IOC until this shit blows over. will never pump from ceypetco ever again...
  20. IOC diesel should be safe yeah? what a country we live in...have to trust an indian oil company cos our morons are screwing things up with local companies...
  21. a post earlier this R1 was an R6! Looks like a garandiya going over a kenwood stereo to me....
  22. after all that drama...now i do most stuff DIY. Back then i was completely new to the game these scammers are everywhere nowadays machang recently my 360 went Kaput. RROD. When i checked with our local "experts"...they tell you all these tall tales. And how expensive their equipment is, how they took a dump in the morning blah blah and quote you some crazy price to fix things. That too they make it sound like they are doing a favor to you by taking a job on. I fixed my 360 meself in the morning. Costed me like 4k including the price for a hot air gun Works like a charm now
  23. aw shucks... so will have to pump super diesel until this thing blows over. Also, looks like the issue is with ceypetco sheds yeah?
  24. Have a slightly different take on this. As much as its horrid and shameful to admit this....i too have been ripped off there. Despite me going to the college right opposite those shops too for all my schooling years If you're new to cars, dint really have friends who had cars and wasn't familiar with places like AL... it's not too difficult to get into trouble. When i got my first car and took it there to sort out a power shutter issue...never really thought scammers like that existed. Was naive to think people wouldn't do that sorta shit Those kuddas in overalls do a pretty good con job too. They always carry some tools with them and appear to be people working for the shops there. And they use the parking problems to their advantage. If you're new to the subject, you're pretty much screwed cos those guys are pro scammers and they are bloody good at it. I still go there to get stuff...in fact was there over the weekend to replace a busted remote lock motor but i now know exactly how to handle things there.
