If you know what you're doing, you can even wetsand your bumper at home. But before you do, you need to know exactly how much you need to take off and how much paint is left on the bumper. You need to start with a kinda fine sandpaper and then work upto really fine until you know a good polish will get the shine back. A cutting compound will help and you'll def. need most of the stuff mentioned in the thread you were directed to. In essence, don't try to do it if you aren't sure ... or atleast save some money for a trip to the painter if you mess up!

Here's a few pics of some drag racing action we had at a track rental today. I didn't race mine but was there to help out some friends 'cos they just bought an alcohol dragster and were racing their Red TransAm. There's like 40 or so that I uploaded but here's a couple ... more in the album http://www.putfile.com/meangreenz28/images/157317 ... while it was all happening, I kinda did a minor photoshoot with mine too ... lol There was a bunch of nice pics, but had to choose only a few out of them due to time constraints since they were all shot in RAW and had to be individually converted and edited. Long process, but well worth the effort.

Neat driving man! May think of doing a couple SCCA events next year like Auto-X and time attack here myself. Still setting up the beast .. lol

All Camaro's built after '93 were available with the 6-speed manual trans as a no cost option, mine is a '94 and came with a 4-speed auto. Mine however has nothing remaining of that original powertrain setup except the rear axle 'cos everything's been swapped to a later model drivetrain (LS1 from '98 and newer models) and 6-speed setup. It was a long process but I'm happy. I could've sold this and bought a new one for cheaper but I liked the body style. As a daily driver, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're single and live that kinda lifestyle. I know many who do, and I used to use it as a daily driver too. But the fact that it uses only premium fuel and does somewhere like the 18MPG got expensive really quick. Now, a V6 model is available but you're not looking at much performance out that. My model ('94) came with 275HP and 325TRQ with the original engine (LT1). But with the new engine combo, it put down 401HP at the rear wheels on a dyno earlier this year (but that was with an Automatic trans). Now with the manual conversion and a better tune, I'm expecting it to be higher ... will keep you guys informed about that 'cos I may get it tuned next week. I'd recommend a '99 or newer LS1 (V8) model 'cos it's got the better engine and computer setup. '98s have the same newer engines but the computer isn't as flexible when it comes to upgrades like turbos/superchargers.

More than the strut tower brace (which will stiffen up the body a bit) you should look more into a beefier sway bar setup if possible. If not available, i guess the strut tower brace is the next best thing. Also, look to see if you can get subframe connectors welded in. If not available, you can get a reputed shop to weld in braces that connect the front and rear subframes together. You can use boxed/round tubing with plates at the ends to weld onto the subframes.

OOPS!!! Look like the SL plane tried to do a move like in colombo streets and squeeze past and hit the wing tip and sliced it off ... *so sad* but still laughing

That's mostly a term that stuck with the older muscle cars. Newer cars are pretty good. As for my Camaro ... not out of the factory, a well set up Camaro (and I stress the set up part) can hold its own at the track. Ofcourse, one of the main disadvantages is that they're heavy compared to the imports but we offset that by that low end torque that you need comming out of turns/etc. ... I'd love to get an older Corvette Z06 in the future but I'm also saving up for when the new Camaro comes out in '09 ... decisions decisions

After I did the 6-speed manual conversion and put back my front sway bar ... took a couple of fast turns and realised that I'd really missed driving fast around corners. For the past four years, I've only drag raced and that quickly got boring when I ran out of money to upgrade (constantly). Sooo.... Yesterday, I put up my drag wheel setup (which is practically brand new with about 10 passes on them) for sale on a local forum and ordered a new suspension kit. I was really happy when it sold in less than 15 minutes and for the price I was asking. New kit ... Bilstein shocks/struts and adjustable height coil spring setup from Ground Control all around. That was the most expensive thing in my way but the cost was covered by the sale of the wheels. Now I can get the cheaper stuff like the subframe connectors and road race sway bars later. Right now, I should be good for some light spririted "almost get myself killed" driving!

I'm not sure dude, this guy is older and has two daughters. He's involved with the Sri Lankan Malay Club in Toronto. I'm actually comming for one of those events, like a dinner/dance or something. I'll be in Toronto Nov. 22-24

Hey, can I have some info on who's doing the Biodiesel project in SL? I have a friend who wants to invest in this sort of thing in SL and didn't know there was someone already doing it.

Oh man, I love Grand Nationals!!! Awesome car! Hey Dillon, I'll be in Toronto end of next month for an event. Do you know Akiel Ousmand (shaved head)?

That's neat that the gov' is innitiating an emissions test in SL, hopefully it'll go smooth without "much" bribery and things of that nature. Most cities are getting so damn polluted by the unmaintained vehicles that it's a good thing I believe.

Sri Lanka – Failed State, Laughing Stock
Mean Green z28 replied to Mean Green z28's topic in The Lounge
WEED ... I feel like you're attacking me from your post, is that what you wanted to do, or is that a generalized statement? I just posted up what I recieved and hear day in, day out over here in SL whenever SL'ans meet. But, as far as your statement goes, here's what I've heard ... Leaders of other countries only travel with their spouse and two bodyguards to address the UN for days on end. But, the leader of SL brings half the country with him when he only stands up there for 5 minutes asking of support for his country ... one gets to thinking of the motive of their journey. -
Very sad ... because its true ... this is what I hear day in, day out over here. I'm glad someone put them into writing, please try to forward this to whoever you'll can. Sri Lanka – failed state, laughing stock I spent a holiday in the US very recently and hung my head in shame whenever Sri Lankans got together over there. Their riducule of matters Sri Lankan and our politicians was bitter, but justified. I returned with a totally despondent feeling and one I've never had before - wanting to go back; leave this wretchd homeland of mine. Some of the reasons:- * Wastage of money by the government which is fast ruining the country, actually ruined it already. Our economy is down, down but consider the utter waste on security for all MPs, the tamashas, the luxury cars, an Aston Martin included! (No end to the list) * The large contingents that taken by the Prez on his trips abroad. Case in point: the record breaking number taken along last year when the Prez addressed the UN. Once our folk dump themselves in those horribly expenisve suites (Waldorf Astoria? Four Seasons?) they scatter only to meet again at the hotel for departure. Rumour had it some even jetted to Las Vegas while spouses and spices (mistresses taken along) went to gape at the Grand Canyon. * A repetition this time too - of the vast number taken along while the country is getting poorer by the day and the wages of poverty suffered by the masses rise.. Politicians have a glorious time at the expense of the citizens of Sri Lanka. What use this vast number taken abroad? The Prez's way of saying 'thank you for being loyal to me and keeping me in power.'? Consider the amount of good that can be done to the country with the millions wasted on a jamboree for loyals: schools and hospitals equipped, roads repaired ... * The impunity with which people in power run amok trying to save brats who have run amok in night clubs. A fight between two studs over a foreign cow has their entire country shaken up and threatened by a gun toting papa who sees no fault in sonna boy, fault only in police, judiciary et al. And the said papa continues in power, retains his parliamentary seat. Blackmail is the buzzword. The highest held to ransom. * The totally coarse, blatant and utterly undiplomatic way in which a certain minister of state shoots his mouth. A respected, V*P delegate from the UN arrives to assess the situation here and is labelled, loud and clear, 'a terrorist'. If a foreign person, however high in international status, does not sing the country's praise like the kept press does, he is considered anti-the government, anti-Sri Lanka. * The antics of the monks in Parliament. People laugh derisively at them. Disgrace to say you come to clean the seat of government and then cheat it by selling a car permit or the car itself. Money illgotten whether you give it to charity or develop your temple is money cheated for. And worse. Loud mouthed parliamentarians justify this as a done crime so it is permissible. Shows what little brain power they have! Why don't we ever learn? Silly question to ask because most of those in power cannot learn - below par IQ, bloated heads, wallowing in self indulgence and bovine stupidity. But cunning is very much in their make-up. Howcome Bangladesh imprisons two former first ladies for corrruption, and the Philippines an ex-Pres? There is every reason to follow suit here, but not even a commission of enquiry is set up. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. And so the circus continues, with not even dry bread to allay the hunger pangs of the masses. And now our collective dignity and self respect is tattered by the very people who should protect them. The brain drain is on - good luck to them. More should follow and those abroad, just stay put there. You may be a second class citizen but better than being a totally powerless sufferer in Sri Lanka, gone not to the dogs but to the buffalo - that cunning, totally unrealiable creature. Mr President, please wake up before it is too late. Sri Lanka is a failed state. Can you imagine that! Now people hide their heads in utter shame, here and abroad. As a first step to redemption - turrning the clock of corruption back - PLEASE CUT DOWN the size of the followers you take to the UN this year. At least then we will have a glimmer of hope. Relying totally on the army and navy to save our faith in you is not enough. Utterly Disgusted Saddened Woman

I just remembered this and I though I'd tell you guys... When I was in SL two months back for my wedding, I didn't have my SL license since I didn't know where I put it. So, I went to the RMV and showed them my driver's license from USA and they gave me a legal document with my picture on it and the official stamp and the deputy commisioner's signature on it (I personally went to him to get it signed) stating that I was allowed to legally drive in SL with my foreign license and the the document. Everything's going smooth until we decide to go get a midnight snack at Pilawoos. At the Liberty Plaza junction, I was stopped by the cops for their "rutine" checks. I gave them my license and the 'official' document I had and they were like "what is this?" and it turned out they seriousely didn't know what the hell it was. There were atleast 2 others who got such documents when I was their so I'm guessing it's a pretty common thing. But, only these two cops hadn't ever heard/seen it. Now, they start asking me all these random questions and asking me if my US license is an international license. I felt like telling them "yes and getting it over with" but decided to play it out 'cos I knew I had nothing to worry about and seriously wanted to see how ignorant they were. One of them was looking at my lecense upside down for a moment (it was dark, so I'll let that go), but I took it off him and gave it back rightside up ... lol ... the other was very carefully inspecting the 'document' and asking me what it was and where I got it from and how much I paid for it, as if I was some criminal trying to pass a forged/non-existant document. After a while, they talk to each other silently and then come up to me and ask me why I got this when I had an international license, stating that my license had the C-class on it and all I had to do was go to the AA and get a document from their. I explained to them that it is not an international license and that the C-classification was for cars and the entire world spelled the word car with C and that's pretty simple to get. Still, they were convinced that it was an international licence and that I was good to go with it. So I was like OKAY! THEN! They turn their attention to the document I posessed and start talking saying that I didn't need to get it and some bullshit like it's not fake 'cos it's got the official government seal on it and blah blah blah ... it's like they were trying to convince themselves that they were right .... right? lol So finally, they were like ... "fine go" and I took my time and got back in and took off. I was laughing my ass off in the car, much to the annoyance of 4 passengers when had to sit there for like 20 minutes until I got back. One of my friends came to the conclusion that they were just looking for a bribe and was really hoping for one because of the car we were driving (my friend's Audi A6) but I seirously believe they had no clue about what they saw that night ... lol Something that pissed me off though was something that happened while all this went on, a Toyota Starlet came around the round-a-bout with quite a bit of speed all squeeling tires and then stopped right in front of the cop car 'cos it was on a collision path with it. All the cops scurried off towards the driver who got off and was kinda intoxicated by the way he stood. I turned my attention away from that and was talking to the people in my car when the guy got back in his car (after a few words with the cops) and peeled off all loud and shyt ... what the f? Lovely country yah?!!!

+1 on that! There's usually two little lines on both sides of the windshield about 4-6" from the top that's provided by the manufacturer that shows the limits to where a tint can be applied and that's usually respected by every country ... except ofcourse SL where the cops make their own rules when they feel like it. Did they give a ticket for it? what's the next step? Would like to know pls.

We just had the our race between us (Easters Fbody Association) and the Mid-Atlantic Cobra Association (Mustang/Cobras) on Saturday at Maryland International Raceway (USA) and I thought you guys may like to see some pics of the action. Unfortunately, I couldn't race 'cos my fuel pump decided to act up, but I went and took pictures. Ultimate winner of the 'outlaw' race (anything goes, all out drag cars) was a Camaro with a best of 8.93@155mph in the quarter mile and the close second was a mustang running a 9.13 (not sure of speed) in full street trim. There were many other classes for stock cars and index racing and also the most popular bracket racing, but the outlaw series is the highlight. Winner: Camaro (Built motor, ~350HP shot of Nitrous) 2nd place ... Mustang (Built motor, Supercharged) ... yeah, it looks like a regular ol' Mustang but puts down about 1000HP at the rear wheels (according to owner) There's like 450 pics on my album ... http://putfile.com/meangreenz28/images/147765 Enjoy!

In SL ... PIMP MY 3-WHEELER?
-
Save you money ... I say just learn to drive like a decent human being and all the fuel troubles will end. One of my friends decided to do an experiment and drove his Civic very gently (never go over 3000rpm, shift early, no hard acceleration, coast to stop with clutch in, etc.) and gained almost 25% more fuel efficiency that from driving normally.

I'm not sure of any places in SL that would sell the clay bar kits, but I'm guessing you should be able to get it shipped to you. That link I posted has some product prices, factor in the cost of shipping too though.
