  1. Update: Baseline Ceypetco was never open, apparently the truck is just parked there. They're cordoning off bits of the Laughs next door as well, according to a fellow who just got to the office. I would suggest that you guys seek out smaller sheds off the beaten path. The supply had resumed from midnight last night, so these places are your best bet to fill up at. The Diesel queue at Etul Kotte is almost non-existent so it's a good gamble.
  2. I left the house an hour early to do some scouting: Pelawatta Ceypetco - Ballekwath nehe Koswattha Laughs - Diesel closed, Petrol moderate queues Baseline : Ceypetco - Saw a container truck parked in front, so I'm assuming he was filling up both his tanks, however there appeared to be no queues for either fuel The Laughs next door - Moderate to Darunu queues, spilling onto the Baseline, appeared to have both fuels from the looks of the demographics Money shot: Ethul kotte, smaller shed close to parliament road junc - 2-3 car petrol queue, no diesel queue, best to come from parliament road side since the road is narrow and 2-3 cars still spill out on to the road. I filled up from here, they said they received supplies in the morning and were fully functional.
  3. They did mention it on TV as well, I mean the people on strike themselves. So we should hope for the best, and apparently collective thoughts do make things happen, if there's an ounce of truth in Dan Brown's new book.
  4. I bet your digital fuel gauge is a lot more accurate than mine. Today I switched on the power and waited a minute for the needle to settle, and then rocked the vehicle back and forth for about 5 seconds. The needle settled half a hair below the 1/4 line. Are you guys driving with or without A/C?
  5. Yes but he won't be shifting in such a way that he's picking up from near stall point in 3rd and then in 5th. There's always a little overlap in the power bands even between alternating gear ratios. So you'd only have to rev the engine twice (assuming you're going to cruise in 5th), instead of 4 times.
  6. That's the consensus on Sirasa too. They mentioned people will be returning back to work on Monday, dunno if operations will resume though. It's interesting how the situation is being kept low key by the media. My uncle in the city of gems wasn't even aware of such a thing till he was about to fill up for the trip back.
  7. Oooh some food related opadupa!
  8. Well since you appear to be in the Narahenpita area you should try there. And also try the shed on highlevel, on the curve before Cargills. I might try there as well this evening.
  9. Did you try Borella and HP?
  10. My uncle had pumped from Koswatta, I think this morning. 1.5 hour wait and they're rationing the supplies, he was only able to pump rs2000 worth of petrol. I half feel like going around to Nugegoda and scoping the sheds on the Highlevel, since I do have a 1/4-1/5 tank left.
  11. Double post, silly computer.
  12. They were all put into storage a while back. All I have these days are these uber cute 1:87 models from Malibu International. Plus a few more in my bookcase at the office (people played with them making "vroom vroom" sounds when I had them on my desk). The company has, sadly, gone out of business, and you'll be lucky to find any at Walmart (the only place in Georgia where these were sold), and those on ebay are going for 2-3 times more in price.
  13. Nice collection! I've got some ancient Bburagos, Majorette and Hotwheels but I stopped collecting while in my late teens. Also I tended to play with them quite a bit, so nothing show worthy although I'm still hanging on to them in the event they become collectors items in the next decade or so (the quality of most 1:64 models these days is appalling compared to what they were 25 years ago!).
  14. That's what I thought too, but it's a supply issue, and since Ceypetco is handling that, all their employees are Union.
  15. At least there's MotoGP, so we can take heart in knowing that the Doctor is going to kick ar$e tomorrow. OT, I know, but there's not much else to be cheerful about this weekend :/
  16. Jubilee post is also closed, dunno about Nugegoda Highlevel as I'm laying low till Monday. Has anyone been lucky in finding an operational shed today?
  17. Good poll with an even distribution of vehicles, but I'm pretty sure Hiace takes the cake, ice cream and beer keg.
  18. Could the feel and precision you're experiencing have more to do with design ergonomics for sport driving?
  19. I can't help but think that I too have become a victim since I've only got a 1/4 tank left too. The shed at Pelawatta junc was closed and lights out as I turned into it with hopes quenching my baby's thirst
  20. Me too. Silly silly people. The only solace we have is in the hope that in the event of a crash, the lack of an airbag would almost certainly ensure an end to those genes.
  21. On the subject of parking on top of flyovers, I've been noticing several vehicles parked on the Baseline flyover, on the Colombo bound side. It's a serious danger to traffic, I nearly didn't see a 70 series troop carrier parked just beyond the crest. Do these people not have the slightest sense?
  22. The Colombo bound lane is full of pot holes, just as you merge with traffic past the flyover. Our poor 121 scraped her chin twice
  23. No no no DZ, you've posted a new lap record. I'm talking about the quickest 0-60100mph and back to 0 time. This was done a few years ago by a regular Ultima GTR. In fact, Ultima have set and broken a slew of their own records several times.
