  1. Well for one thing, it seats only 4 people, and has very little boot space. The M5 is just a 5 series on serious steroids and hormone therapy, which means I can still carry the wife, kids, family dog and our assorted luggage off for a weekend without much issue. Ditto for the RS6, the CTS-V, the 300C SRT8, etc. If anything, the Panamera's competition is the Fezza 612 and the like. Porsche should've brought back the 928. P.S. I state clearly in my earlier rant why I grudgingly accepted the Cayenne, which is also the reason for its success.
  2. Indeed, but now that I spend at least half a year living amongst them, nothing they ever do surprises me. I've been desensitized. But anyway, back to the fugly Porsche 4 seater. What's the point? I mean a Maybach or a Toyota Century, sure, they're personal chauffeur driven luxury barges, but this car makes no sense, a family man would have scant use for it when compared to an M5 or RS6. Or maybe it's supposed to appeal to single 30-something high powered executive types who want a phat ride to see him and 3 of his best mates in complete comfort? But will the boot space be enough to hold their egos?
  3. Much much less than I expected it to last, barely done 60k :-/ I'm hoping that's the average lifetime of a sleeve job on a 2C engine, else I'm in trouble.
  4. I just want to hug one of those Pirelli Scorpions and never let go <33333333333333 P.S. A black example of one of these beauties made a brief cameo in Fast and Furious, as the vehicle in which Campos travels to the church in.
  5. I read this article some time ago, and I too agree with you. I'm not sure where exactly this guy is coming from, but it appears to be a personal grudge against experimentation and innovation more than anything else. I believe the Aston Martin Lagonda was in there too.
  6. Delo Gold (500) for me, and I change oil without fail every 3 months. The sleeve job is starting wear down, so the oil picks up crud a lot sooner. Time for a second overhaul it seems
  7. Oh god... who was the bright spark who handed a 16 yr old rice tuner the keys to one of those? Talk about adding injury to insult. I dunno, this Porsche has "Epic Fail" written all over it. I have tolerated enough of this silliness from Porsche. When they went water-cooled in '98 I shrugged it off as progress, and when that horrible Cayenne came out, I was compelled to believe it was to prey on the Western (read: mostly American) demand for large, fast vehicles to better collide into small cars with. But when they unveiled this abomination of everything Porsche was not supposed to be (even more so than the Cayenne because at least that's an SUV), I simply turned away. I mean seriously, it looks like someone squeezed a Cayenne through a Caymen shaped stencil. Lamborghini ftw. At least they made a proper SUV, or more to the fact, a proper high performance off road vehicle, albeit way too ahead of its time. Such a pity they canceled their 4 door Reventon-esque Estoque [/rant]
  8. I wouldn't mind even paying an appropriate fee for a personalized sticker(s) i.e. with our forum handles.
  9. I want me a butter purut sandwich with mayo, cream cheese, and lettuce, and a tall glass of ne-la-li juice with crushed ice, to go please.
  10. I second this. A picture does literally speak a thousand words. Most manufacturers of splined lug nuts use their own design, which in turn makes theft (and removal in case the key is lost) nearly impossible unless you can identify who the manufacturer is. But if we have a picture, I'm sure we can figure out what it is through our collective effort. Much better than risking damage to your alloys and possibly a drive lug.
  11. We had a company provided 54- Isuzu 2wd double cab, I loved the engine note and the acceleration. Plus, it got thoroughly hacked over the next few years but the drive train and engine never faltered. The older solid axle Hiluxs have to be without doubt the best pickup trucks out there, 2nd hand examples from the 90s (LN 106s and LN 107s) are fetching insane prices even in Japan.
  12. I'm looking for some details on the very yellow looking Starlet GT with white wheels in the "Buy" section, for a colleague of mine. He was told by some of his mates that it had met with an accident, but the details are sketchy. If discussions of this kind are disallowed I apologise to the mods in advance.
  13. Well thankfully downtown Atlanta bore most of the brunt, I'm located in a suburb about 15 miles north, we only received heavy rainfall and somewhat strong winds, similar to what we experienced in SL this past week.
  14. I'm not too familiar with reverse sensors (my Aunt's Alto SE has them, rather pointless on such a small car I can barely fit into), but I'm assuming you can program in the compensation required to clear a door mounted wheel or other protrusions beyond the sensors? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. Leave just enough petrol in the tank for you to go to pump and fill once you return. The water content in petrol makes the tank prone to rust. It's better not to start the car at all than to start it and run it for just a few minutes ever few days. As for the body, give it a good wash and wax it well, that should keep things on the up and up during your absence. That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head.
  16. That's a good idea, but wouldn't they ask us to prove it? I've been toying with the idea of pinching one of those large measuring beakers from the lab one day and taking it with me to a (dodgy) fuel station I pump at regularly since it's so close to my home. But I'm wondering if a liter sized beaker is enough to spot any discrepancies, since the general consensus is that this happens in fractions per liter.
  17. Does the CR42 have an electric or engine driven fan? 'cos if it's the latter, I don't see the point of a thermostat.
  18. Woah srsly? That's appalling, I though the K12 March/Micra had the worst fuel economy out of the small cars. Would a Vitz be more suitable for Chamika?
  19. I remember being severely embarrassed at a LAUGFS once after I was led to believe they dispensed diesel at prices lower than the competition (I was naive and easily trusting back then, not the crusty old cynical bastard I am now), and sort of avoided them after that.
  20. Hang on... LAUGFS dispenses Diesel? This is new(s).
  21. Those are required, IMO. Pedestrians and motorcycles simply refuse to get out of the way. And there are those bright sparks who are compelled to ride the lane dividing lines, and flashing your lights from behind does nothing, you have to lean on your horn.
  22. Me too, I either caught the one which started from the Nugegoda Supermarket, or if I were lucky enough I got into one from Embuldeniya which had just left the depot.
  23. The computers in that GTR can be used to compute firing solutions for long range missiles. Plus it has bluetooth sync with your phone's phonebook.
  24. That bit of trivia clears things up, thanks. And yeah, I've seen those 22sri body transplants at the Udahamulla Depot. Btw, whatever happened to those Isuzu powered Semi-Luxury and Luxury (which became Semi-Luxury once the A/C units broke down) buses? I used to love going in them because Isuzu diesels are such sweet engines.
