  1. If it is indeed a tata I hope the company has something to say about this considering the number of different tatas that burned down on our roads in the past few months
  2. before the tax hike early cygni went for as low as 6.5 mil. A late "led light model" will set you back around 12 million. this is 2nd hand of course petrol prados of that vintage started at 6.5 and diesels were over 10 mil. After the tax hike diesels should have caught up but petrols should be where we left them.
  3. ah! living in denial, like always
  4. I don't see you trying to prove them wrong them either
  5. Took my Insight to Colombo today. Got 5km/l in some sections. Who cares? I'm saving the world rite?

Yep struggling to better the allions figures. Hopefully a service will help. its pretty quick though.

  6. all this is just an idiot with a massive carbon footprint making a lot of noise. What are you now? a weatherman? If you want to save the world so much what are you doing in a centrally heated house, eating all that fancy food, flying back and fourth and driving a prius without using mass transit or cycling? because underneath all that guerrilla marketing and bogus statistics you know deep down you are a hypocrite and that if you promoted hybrids people won't notice it. If you want to make a change be that change ...and get off the f*cking computer because the coal power plant that's powering it is killing baby seals.
  7. This makes the current Axio look like Scarlett Johansson . and OMG! what have they done to the interior? its as if they let a fake taiwanese wood insert manufacturer design it. But I guess buyers will be blinded by its beauty and shocked by its performance.
  8. I'll tell you what a separate but connected idea is. that is your Prius caused more pollution sourcing its batteries and being shipped to US than a Land Cruiser v8 causes being assembled and put in our shores. and we don't wanna hear about pollution in our country from a hippie that lives on the other side of the world. We know its not bad because we can still see the mountains in the hill country from colombo on a clear day.
  9. heard the news on live @ 55 on my way home. I could swear the news reader referred to him as she
  10. no point calling motorcade. I asked them on thursday. said the lowest they got is 0w-40. someone here said we can find castrol 0w-20 in sl. calling A*W on monday.
  11. As fanboys go I've never seen one more hopeless than this. I'm just thinking how nicely we would have treated hybrids and their owners if this dork didn't turn up.
  12. It sure does. smaller engines are under bigger stress because they have to drag along a relatively heavier weight compared to bigger engine and possibly under bigger throttle inputs to keep up with other cars. with all this constant high revving the engines tend to wear out faster compared to bigger engines. look at all those kei vans with worn engines in the country. even D*MO battas don't cope that well. but in ordinary cars its all relative. so its not a big issue.
  13. Don has covered it pretty well but there's more to this engine. See in the second generation models the KR engine was the newest in the range and thanks to its size and lightness and efficiency over other options it was the most economical of the range also it was equipped with the auto stop function in the intelligent package. but with the 3rd generation model, with the introduction of the NR engine, it took the lead as the most economical. in the japanese 10-15 mode test it managed 26.5 km/l (which equates to about 17km/l in day to day driving). the 1.0 managed only 23km/l. sure the NR engine features auto stop function but even without it, it does marginally better than the 1.0. and its 69bhp vs. 95 in the NR. so no need to even talk about cross country economy.
  14. The demio is definitely the sportier car. its related to the new fiesta so It feels more european. I think it looks better too but if you want a safe investment get the vitz. but not the ksp130. the nsp130 does way better on fuel. and anybody who buys the 1.0 for fuel economy is an idiot.
  15. Dude first of all check if your engine is a 1NR-FE. only that came with 11.5 compression and it was put in JDM vitz's only after 12/2010. here's why high octane fuel is good. you can compress it better without pre-igniton i.e. knocking. And the rule of thumb when it comes to choosing octane levels is 10*compression ratio is the limit on the amount of octane your car can appreciate. so if you got an n/a engine with 9.0:1 compression 90 octane is the best that it can appreciate. This is the principle most tuners stick to when increasing compression or boost. Anyway production engines can operate within a certain threshold of octane levels depending on its engine management. for example all corollas and other cars with the 1NZ engine run fine on 90 octane fuel even though it has a compression ratio of 10.5:1. It gives better performance when you pump 95 but doesn't complain running on 90. It only becomes a waste when you exceed the octane level the engine can appreciate. hint: indian car owners who pump 95 Then we gotta keep in mind what the manufacturer recommends with respect to what sort of fuel they have in the country its manufactured for. See in japan regular is 95 and premium is 98. So in theory you should stick to 95 here even if the catalogue says regular. But most cars run fine with the exception of GDI's. but I think that's mostly gotta do with 90 being not as refined as 95 here. So to sum up. as with most cars the manufacturer recommends regular for your car. but considering the high compression ratio I wouldn't recommend you switching to 90 octane. Anyway this is the most economical engine toyota makes at the moment. so what's wrong with spending a little extra?
  16. Cali can you stop wasting time posting bogus statistics? people are buying hybrids more than ever because of the tax hike and its got nothing to do with quality or performance. heck people would buy them even if they said bajaj on the back. Now go celebrate your hollow victory over a glass of organic fair trade kola kandha or something.
  17. I was thinking the same too. Even better if they aren't allowed to open a thread until they hit a certain number of posts, like say 50? that way we can get rid all the people who don't know how to use the search tool or the ones who join just to bash some organization or member
  18. I'd swear this is somewhere in south of france. It looks that good
  19. Proof that women are only good in the kitchen
  20. It might if the tolerances on a new engine are big enough to work with thicker oils. anyway the basic idea of using such a thin oil is to improve economy. you get some extra performance in the mix too
  21. Dude synthetic oils, especially 0w tend to get pretty expensive here. A can of Mobil 0w-40 is hovering around the 8000 rupee region. The oil stafford uses comes in 1 litre cans. so that and the fact that the oil is thinner put together I think the price is just about right. then you need to replace oil and air filters. that comes to about 5000 bucks. So 17k is a pretty decent sum for a service at the agents.
  22. thought the s2000 has an insanely high redline? the s600 with its 4 carb 4 cylinder engine could go past its 9500rpm redline upto 11000rpm! wish they still made peaky small engined cars like that.

  23. I think of maruti 800 buyers as people who dont know anything about cars. But I don't know what to call the people who buy some good for nothing POS like the Nomad A friend of mine did an internship in this factory and he said the quality is so bad that the original hinge postions on the body had to be blanked and new nuts had to be welded to the body in order to fit doors.
  24. I think this was previously discussed in AL. and the license fees were 10mn for used cars and 50mn for brand new cars. what's the point of making a fuss about this law? Its not like the government ever listens to us anyway. Instead we should look at how we can tackle the problem. See if a seller can shift 1-2 cars a week they can cover up the cost by adding 100-200k to the price. The prices will go up anyway once the law is implemented. and this is actually a nice incentive to sell more cars. small importers can switch to selling used cars. with so many parts available they can easily bring a neglected car to a good state and sell it at a decent profit. As for the buyer what's wrong with personally selecting a car and importing it through a renowned seller? recently someone I know selected and imported a premio through a*toland and they charged only 290k iirc for their services.
  25. basically in JDM models they are there to illuminate road markings and things that are immediately in the front corners of the vehicles in foggy conditions so the drive can stick to the right lane. however in some brand new cars like the 1st gen montero sport they really are fog lamps designed to do a better job than the headlights. While we are on the subject of fogs I think it'd be a safer if we start fitting a bright red lamp at the back now that we got highways. in foggy or rainy situations they do a much better job making us visible to people behind us than ordinary taillights. I've seen them fitted standard on some of the newer indian cars and fully specced jdms. I've even seen some morons in maruitis driving around with these lights on in dry conditions blinding the drivers behind them.
