Who on earth is 'Mazna Motors' ? ... I wouldn't take my car to a place with a name like that in the first place..... Anyway, it pays to do a bit of research and learn a bit about cars yourself rather than trust the word of self proclaimed 'Gurus'... some years back when I bought my first car, I too took it straight to a famous guy for repairs... learned the hard way and paid a lot of money to fix problems which never got fixed. The guy was even advising folks to replace one shock absorber at a time...... Found out that most of the time he had to bluff his way around because his mechanics were clumsy or inexperienced and were actually damaging his customers cars. A lot of people put their trust in these Big Shots and do whatever they say... no questions asked, but they pay a heavy price for it.

Came across this rather shocking article..... now this would have been a real classic restoration project if someone had only known what it really was... Shocking Story

You are quite wrong there my friend.... actually, even the old japanese engines used in the Sunnys and Corollas of the 80s were far better engineered than their european counterparts. The difference was in the casting methods used for the engine blocks and gearwheels which were made with far more precision than those in a lot of the mass market european brands. Even in the latest cars, many european car owners would tell you that you simply have expect to have to replace parts like Turbos and Fuel pumps after 60,000 kms or so, whereas japanese cars run on very much longer even if carelessly maintained.

Starter Motor Sluggish After Servicing The Vehicle
nira74 replied to Jayathu's question in Mechanical problems
If it persists after a week or so and there is no issue with the Battery or the Terminals - check for loose battery terminals, you may need to check the Starter Motor. I had the same issue some time back and it worsened after some time - turned out to be a worn out bush in the starter motor. -
Over the last week, I've heard several people say that a number of Kyron owners have run into some major mechanical problems in their Jeeps. No one knew any details though..... Anyone know if there's any truth in it ?

Yeah, this is pretty annoying..... I've stopped looking at the classified section now, cause it seems all this guy want's to do is shove his car in your face...

Hey, don't get me wrong, but I've seen this before. This is a common trick done by some crooked importers to make their cars appear to have low mileage. They simply blank out the first digit digital of the digital Odometer display. Used to be common practice of a well known car sale in Welisara.

There were a couple of threads.... I tried IOC premium for about 3 tankfulls. My advice would be to stick with 95 octane if you can afford it. Smoother Running and Better Fuel mileage than IOC Premium

I think u mean the semi luxury tax on vehicles with Engine capacity between 1800 and 2000cc. 25,000 the first year and reducing by 2,500 each year for 7 years. (Last payment is 10k) Some popular 1.8L cars actually have an engine capacity of just over 1800cc and therefore get taxed... eg: Honda Accord, Mitsubishi Galant and Lancer 1.8, Nissan Primera and Bluebird SSS with the SR18 engine. Nissans with QG18 engine have a 1769cc engine and are not subject to this tax. (Bluebird 1.8 from 1998 onwards and Sylphy) Toyota 1.8L cars and even the Audi A4 1.8 and VW Passat 1.8T also fall below the 1800cc category.

Ran a Manual 2wd some time back. Nippy performance. Good on Fuel (10+ in Colombo) and maintenance cost was almost negligible. Only replaced a brake washer in 3 years of use. Performance on the Automatic is also pretty good. Fuel consumption is 8-9. Only it has a multimatic gearbox which needs more TLC. Regular transmission oil changes with Honda CVT oil can be a tad costly. You also need to be a little careful if you're buying an Auto because a number of them have problematic gearboxes due to bad maintenance. Check whether there is any juddering or vibration when taking off from standstill. Fixing this problem could set you back about 75k.

Hey. it's most likely that you're using a bad brand. 5k per piece is pretty cheap.!

Quite a few "Hardly used" ones in the paper classifieds and also some on the A/L Adverts .... How come lots of folks who buy this bike seem to be wanting to get rid of it after a couple months or so ?

From what I have heard, the 1500cc Sylphy (Chassis No. Code is FG10, not FN16) does considerably better on fuel on the 1500 Sunny.

Each of those gagues has one or two bulbs inside. One idea would be to try fitting brighter bulbs. There are some LED bulbs available now which fit the original holders. These come in various types with anything from 1 to clusters 7 or more LEDs on the same bulb base. Could try something like that which would increase the brightness without generating too much heat.

Yes, they came with Turbo, but it's going to be a bit hard maintaining a Turbo that old - most cars the turbo may be shot by now

My earlier Bluebird SSS factory recommended plugs were platinum ones. Nissan parts catalog had no copper alternative listed when they looked up Chassis No / Engine No. Was advised that I would risk damaging the coils if i fitted normal copper plugs. The Platinum plugs cost considerably more than the Iridium ones also. (over 2k per plug), but they lasted a heck of a long time ... over 3 years and were still going strong when I sold the car....

That Generation N16 (Brand New) 1300cc is pretty bad on fuel and has poor pulling power when compared with a corolla or Mazda of similar vintage. Quoted price seems a little high considering the Reg. No and Mileage.

I've serviced there a couple of times in the past, always bought Mobil and gave them, and they never made a fuss. went there mainly because they were tied up with the Nissan Agents and therefore avoided the fuss of having to supply them the genuine filters from outside. However, switched back to Cleanpark because even though there never was any problem with their work, the attention to detail in polishing and cleaning was never anywhere close to Clean Park level.

The Ultimate Insult to a Mini..! I'm sure all the Mini Lovers out there will be as offended as I was when I saw this... Note the similarity in the tail lights..... The work of yet another Yakaa Baas !

Saw a Silver one this morning in a used cars / parts place on the Pitakotte Road just after turning in from the parliment road. Place was closed so didn't bother stopping to take a closer look.

I recall Motorcade used to bring down some universal sun roof some time back. Not sure whether it was an electric one though.....

U&H in Malay Street repaired a badly bent Minilite for us some time back - even proved it on the wheel balancing machine. The wheel is still in use with no problems at all.
