Thanks for your answer. By registered - you mean the category in the registration book?P plate is the number plate? like PA- etc?
-
Thanks. I already saw that link. My problem is I'm still not sure whether I'm permitted to drive this vehicle. According to my license I can drive a dual purpose vehicle. Question is, does this classify as a dual purpose vehicle? I would be very grateful if someone can offer me advice on this!

Pardon me if this is a stupid question - I've searched the forum with no luck. What I want to know is, am I permitted to drive a TATA 207? I have the old driving license with C, C1 category

- But how do they classify the car as a race car? Stickers, spoiler and a loud exhaust?

Thanks, NVM, found what I wanted.

Thanks, actually this isn't necessarily for a car - I just need a general low power amplifier to drive 1 or 2 speakers, preferred bridgeable. Also prefer if it is AC but 12v is fine.
-
Hi Guys I'm looking to get a simple cheap amplifier - should be able to drive 1 or 2 speakers, preferred electric powered but 12v is OK. Should be able to receive audio input from a phone / ipod or something. Don't mind a non-brand Chinese even if its reasonably OK quality... Any suggestions?

dish TV is popular, many unofficial agents sell it, check HitAd magazine. If you are getting DishTV and have an LCD TV sign up for the HD connection. Payment depends on who you choose, phone and ask them?

Guys, can anyone recommend me a good brand/product and also mention where it is available? I know a lot of places have Chinese products - some of those seem toxic...

Finding such low mileage (50k in a ten+ year old car) is extremely unusual but not impossible - it very rarely happens if the car is a second car, or the owner is mostly outside the country for example. Check and see if everything else matches up - the engine and interior should be exceptional if the mileage is real... Also ask to see the last 2 emission reports. they should match - so if the car has 50k mileage it should mean roughly 5k km per year - emission reports should hopefully match. If you are buying any Nissan, contact the service manager at A*W and get an appointment for an inspection / defect report and ask the owner to take the car there when you are there - you can see the underside etc. Nissan does a good inspection for around 2000 upwards. Ask them to hook in the engine diagnostics and get a printout also (they may charge extra for that).

Give Me An Advice To Buy New Car. Budget 1M-1.2M
Saturn replied to asankabs's topic in General Automotive
March is OK. Try to get an English no. For a similar budget you can get a starlet EP82 (or early / 2 door ep91) Fuel economy - hard to say as it depends on driving and other factors. A starlet is worth as you can sell it easily. whatever car you should set aside at least 100,000 to repair it and bring it up to spec (new tyres, timing, shocks, etc...) -
apologies for bringing up an old topic/thread but has anyone tried one of those cheap OBDII gauges like the scangauge? Are any available in Sri Lanka - if so where?

Mileage is a tricky issue as most car sales (and owners) have no qualms about clocking their cars. Here's what I'd check in a used car: 1. Look at the service / maintenance records of the car (if any) - sometimes they include mileages. 2. Green tests sometimes include mileage (for a used car) -if you look at the last few tests (about 2 years its been around so far) you can get an idea of average mileage and this should help. 3. If the vehicle is maintained at an agent they may have info 4. Does the dashboard look messed with - if its an analog meter are the numbers all jagged and wobbly? could be a sign. 5. Timing belt: if changed at all, there may be a sticker on engine with milage written. Sometimes the shops forget to remove this. 6. De Silva valuation (if any) includes mileage - so if seller has an old one this helps - though none of the sellers will show you an old one as they want to sell for much higher price Last but not least, condition of the car / engine. The condition of engine, interior, shocks, etc should typically match Before you sell any car, it is worth getting a report from de silva, and a defect report from the agent. Ask to be present for the defect report, as you can also see things - for example when they jack up the car and you get a good view of underside. Agent inspection costs a few thousands but is worth it considering that cars cost millions! If a seller refuses an agent inspection, don't buy. disclaimer: I'm not an expert!

wait... you are servicing it after a year?

I don't think there's anything anyone here can say to rival that /thread

There is nothing you cannot achieve.

I'm not sure if you are trolling but I'll bite - If some pedestrian wanders into the way of traffic, they can't blame a vehicle for hitting them. As for highways, that's not the issue here. Galle Road is (by our crummy standards) a highway. It's full of intercity traffic, not a private bylane or something. Anyway, this thread is about the fastest speed you (drove?) I guess, so its for people to post their speeds, not pass judgement on others.
-
Pedestrians are, for the most part, idiots. Many of them shouldn't even be on the roads - while 99% are able to avoid vehicles and use common sense, there's always that 1% who are drunk/stupid etc, also, the law is 99% on the side of a pedestrian. If one do have a collision with one, if the mob doesn't finish you, the law probably will That said, yeah I agree with you - if one does hit a pedestrian, even at 10km/h they will be pretty much screwed. The only difference (I guess) is that going faster one would have less reaction time / less ability to avert the crash.
-
Come now, guys... I agree all the other stuff is either in jest or useful but please lets not talk about drunk driving in this context. DUI is a serious thing and people die that way - its not like crossing double lines or something. I've met my fair share of Sri Lankans who claim that they can drive as good or better while drunk but the accident statistics seem to disagree.
-
I spoke to them - they seem to be quite good. thanks to you and Crosswinds for the recommendation!

Agree. In my experience, c******o were very straightforward and provided an actual printed breakdown on everything they did, together with statements on demand and via mail, whereas the other company did not - when it came to settlement they basically 'pulled a figure out of their... well... you know' and said "pay this" - c******o actually provided me a settlement document showing what I had to pay. Though I was pleased with their leasing dept, I don't think I'll be trying c******o again, which is why I'm posting here -
-
Does anyone have recommendations on obtaining a lease/finance for the purchase of a vehicle? I've obtained leases from two companies, and had mixed experiences: c******o leasing - very up front and open with paperwork, provided decent receipts and statements and deeply discounted payoff for an early settlement. Another "capital" leasing company I won't name - quite dodgy, lost payments and refused to credit until receipts produced, and were very creepy when it came to settling the lease in advance.. So guys, do you have any experience with leasing companies and who would you recommend?

Well said.
