  1. Hello everyone. I have just returned to UK & am starting my old venture of recovery, salvage & euro vehicle parts. I tried to set shop in SL, but sadly it did not work out. Long story. It was sad to leave such a beautiful country where every day is a summer's day unlike UK. If anyone has any issues with European vehicle parts please contact me at [email protected] & I will be more than happy to help. Best regards Jerome

  3. Very true Don. I had a large warehouse type unit in Thornton Heath,Surrey before I came to SL.As I have been away for 3 years I am negotiating to take it back.At the moment I am in the process of gathering stock of salvage cars for breaking as parts which is mainly Peugeot & BMW. Is there any chance of shipping parts to SL to someone who is reliable? Can be done as dismantled parts or cut pieces.
  4. Hello mate, I tried to set shop in SL, but sadly it did not work out. I am qualified in European vehicles & to start, as my workshop was out of Colombo there was not much exposure & finding dedicated technicians is like finding a needle in a haystack. Had 3 guys, who always had some sort of excuse to turn up for the 6days of the week. Its always some sort of excuse like the grandmother died or someone else. I am not trying to be insensitive. How many times can one grandmother pass away. Another ones wife was not working and staying at home. But for some reason he had to take time off everyday to pick the children & drop them off to school & would never turn up on time or take hours doing private work. Finally it was not worth the stress I was going through as I was expecting things to happen in an orderly manner like UK. Considering many options I returned with my family back to UK. 6. Hello Ekendra, Thanks for the message. As you may know there are loads of fuel injector cleaners & additives in the market today. Wurth, STP, Redex, 3M & ABRO to name a few in our market which has equal and or similar effects. As you stated that you are looking for something extra what I can recommend is Forte Diesel Injector system cleaner. It’s around £15.00 & is available in UK. As stated earlier in this thread Running a good fuel additive is your best bet to keep your injectors happy as long as they are not clogged-up. Also as a tip, is that if you are going on a somewhat extended drive (i.e., road trip), this is a great time to use a fuel injector cleaning additive. The constant flow of the injectors (since you are in somewhat of a cruising state) with the additive in there does a really great job of cleaning the fuel system. Another is the Berryman's line of cleaners. For petrol vehicles the BG 44K Power Enhancer should be used. It safely, rapidly and thoroughly removes engine deposits in combustion chambers, intake manifolds, ports and on valves. It restores flow in fuel injectors and cleans the entire fuel system. Users have noticed an improvement in fuel economy and exhaust emissions. This is available in the US & UK if you can get your hands on one of them. Add one can or bottle to fuel tank at fill up. You can use this about every 20-25k miles This additive is also Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor safe. What you need exactly is BG244 for diesel engines which have equal effects. One advice by one of my mates is that you should not use this anywhere else other than the fuel tank itself. Hope this helps, Regards Jerome
  7. Spot on MadMMx, your 2 cents are correct. As I stated earlier the recommended way to clean injectors are ultrasonically & you will notice the difference straight away on boost & economy. As JD mentioned the old way of powering up the injector ''just works''. It just works to open & close the valve to let the cleaning agent out which does some cleaning. But the Ultrasonic wave does the job 100%. After all,you do want to spend your money for a complete job.Dont you? And how often will you be taking out your injectors apart? Cheers, Jerome
  8. It was great to have spoken to you Sylvi. Give me a bell when ever you are on this way. Regards Jerome
  9. Comapared to the gold plated Porsche 911 the Nissan GT-R VVIP looks much better for a super car & does not look too bling. Also it looks more class. Fresh from Germany is a perfectly good example of something totally ludicrously ridiculous. The watch, jewelery, and interior decoration company of Schmuckwelten in Pforzheim, Germany has come up with a way to make a duo of Porsches seem utterly undesirable - cover them in gold and tchachkies. "Money Can't Buy Classiness" Some moron with more money than taste has added almost 40 lbs of gold to his 911 convertible. So now it's 40 pounds heavier, and 50% less cool. I swear, what is it with rich people's fascination with shiny things? It's ridiculous. You know what other demographic loves shiny objects? Babies. Coincidence? I think not.
  10. Car buyers in the Middle East can now get their hands on the ultimate 'budget' supercar: the Nissan GT-R VVIP. Its grille is surrounded in 24-carat gold. Nissan is charging 790,000 UAE Dirhams for the car, which is 340,000 more than the standard car costs in the Middle East. Converted to sterling it equates to £135,000; in the UK the GT-R costs £70,000. The GT-R VVIP is based on the top-of-the-range Egoist version (also unavailable in the UK) but adds a grille surround and side flashes coated in 24-carat gold. A carbon fibre rear wing completes the exterior look. Inside the cabin, the work is more extensive. The hand-stitched quilted leather interior is fabricated in Germany, and the steering wheel badge is custom lacquered. Even the Bose stereo is custom fitted, with the speakers positioned based on the height of the driver; that will add an interesting extra dimension to buying a used one. There are no plans to bring the car to the UK, although there's nothing to stop an existing GT-R owner calling the local goldsmith.
  11. Hello guys,I have returned from UK running a garage for many years & in my experience removing and cleaning injectors on the outside & cleaning the carbon deposits in the throttle body will sort the problem to a certain extent. Also using additives in the fuel system also helps. But once the injectors are clogged up even removeing the injector & cleaning the spray nozzle of the injector itself may not help as the deposits go further into the injector. I have seen many so called EFI tuneup spots in SL that give a supply of cleanup additive into the nozzle while running wires from battery to injector to open & close nozzle. This is not the right way as you need to supply an ultrasonic wave to free deposits completely. Due to the machine being expensive this is the method many garages use.But still they charge the customer the usual fee. Also holding the power line over a certain period may also damage the valve causing more problems. I am not slagging off the pro's who do an exceptional job with the right equipment which is worth every cent of money paid.Cheers to them. As Maithri rightfully stated the cheapest & safest way to internally clean the injector is to add a fuel system cleaner to the tank and take the car for a good long spin until operating tempetarture is reached.I have used Wurth,Redex,STP,Wynns additives in my garage in UK which have similar effects. I have now come with my family to settle down in SL & have got down all my Snap-on tool kits along with the scanners & ultrasonic injector cleaning machine & just got a small workshop in Seeduwa. So I hope to provide a quality service for a decent price. I am also in the lookout for a business partner who will be willing to join-up & start this new venture. Also Maithri, where is your garage in UK? Mine was in South London. Just got back to SL due to family reasons & a growing up son.
  12. I have just got my hands on a new BMW smart key programmer & my main investment is my tools. Although ODO correction is not my line of business I have seen this done many times & there are many guys who advertise this servise on ebay UK. The fine line between illegal & may be O.k is Mileage correction as to Mileage alteration. Mileage alteration is Unlawful as to correction. There have been instances in my garage in UK where the car battery is totally flat & you try to jump it with another battery & alas!!! the digital dash may go a bit wonky. Correcting this fault is legal. But you must make sure when you sell the vehicle to disclose this to the new buyer as if the buyer finds this out without you informing them YOU WILL END UP IN THE SHED. Some makes of cars can use a clip on connector on the EEPROM chip or some may need to remove the chip & reprogrammed & resloderd. And yes, as rightfully quoted Sylvi Wijesinghe by examining the removed odometer from the car any meter adjuster can inform the owner if it had been tempered or not. So dont bother trying to tamper with your meter as it is illegal.
  13. Thats right, I have seen this on BMW's & once the mileage is corrected & when the system is rebooted the cars on board computer scans for any discrepancy & it will recognise that something is wrong. The result will be a red light in the dash & who ever wants to buy the car will be instantly put off as they will know stright away that the motor is dodgy. 14. Hello mate, Where is your friends garage & what's his name as I am also in Seeduwa. I have also got down all the equipment needed for an EFI & electronic workshop. I have also rented a small place & am looking for a trustworthy partner which is really hard to find these days. Having experience in the EFI tuning & motor Diagnostic field in UK for many years & running a garage in South East London ( JD Autos - UK ) I have come to settle down in Sri Lanka. My workshop is fully equipped with the latest tools from Snap-On USA & many European & English makes. I also have the scanner for all Japanese OBD 2 protocols & the EOBD for European & American vehicles. I also have laptop based scanners for OBD 1 models which are for the older vehicles. Having invested in the workshop, I am looking for a working partner with a good knowledge in automotive electrical field as I am hoping to expand into this side as well. The prospective investor should have an in-depth knowledge in this field & be able to work confidently in all makes of vehicles & be able to invest their time & effort in developing the business with me on a profit sharing basis. As I have been away for a while I dont have many contacts & am trying really hard to get this off the ground. Do you think you could be of any help? If so please contact me on the number below & we could meet-up & talk further. Thanks & regards Jerom T.P - 0772359454

  16. I am expecting to come later this year.
  17. I live in Croydon In Surrey & my workshop is in Thornton Heath, also in Surrey.
  18. Hello everyone who replied to my message last time.Well its been some time since I made any contact.Almost a year.Since then I have been really busy planning & trying to get into the motoring scene in some part of the world.I have left my lousy financial advisor job for the british government & have started my life ambition in motors.I have taken a large workshop in London & have now 2 people working for me.We do all diagnostic work, repairs, serviceing, maintenance & body work which includes crash repairs for insurance jobs.I have also just purchased a vehicle transporter which safetly transports vehicles all over UK.I am getting a few jobs as well from the Sri Lankan community in Surrey & surrounding areas.I was in China last December & have a partnership with a large car accessory manufacturer & have just received my first container loaded with performance mufflers, performance wheels & other accessorys.I am hopeing to import some Lambo door kits in my next consignment.I have also taken the advise from members of this forum & have started breaking Peugeot,Volvo,Citroen & BMW cars.Due to high demand I have just put my hands into shipping a few cars to Uganda & Ghana. If there are any fellow Sri Lankans who need to contact me for any reason please do so on my mobile 07737030860 as I would like to come to know more people from this community. Best regards Harris
  19. Roughly what is the going price for the new Peugeot 406? 2003/2004 models. (Petrol & Diesel)
  20. Hello DV, Yep, bred & born in SL although a british citizen now.Living for the last 7 years in U.K. Ta, Warren
  21. Thanks Don & xXx for the info. How is the modification & performance sector doing in SL at the moment? I guess because of the economic conditions it must be really slow as well. Another quick note while I am here. Last week I had a time to find an electric window mechanism for my intercooler. One is that Jap parts are very rare in this part of the country & if available would cost a lot. Also there is no point buying this part used because it would be worn anyway & fail at any time. I finally managed to find a brand new replacement part on ebay where I occasionally buy items from at bargain prices. I have seen loads of these items & many more similar parts in Colombo at rock bottom prices. Any chance of importing them over here as it will surely help loads of jap vehicle owners. Cheers Warren
  22. Hello everyone, I am a Sri Lankan living in London doing a lousy 9 to 5 administrative job & was surprised when I stumbled across this web site to see all you motoring enthusiasts in active communication about motors. I straightaway registered myself as I am a very big fan of cars & spend whatever free time available under the bonnet or under my vehicle doing it up. (As much to my knowledge). Anyway, as I need to break from this vicious cycle & finally do something I like I intend to return to SL & start up an import business importing parts for makes such as Volvo,Renault,Peugeot,Citronen,Ford & Mini etc. Before this I need to do some ground work as to what makes & models are more in demand. Could the motoring community in this forum shed some light on this issue? I need some advice on customs regulations as well in importing parts. Also I have a very good contact that deals with minor accident damaged cars, which can surely be repaired. (Within 3 years of manufacture with very low mileage). Can I ship these in damaged condition as I have seen some really good young talent in Sri Lanka who can sort these motors out. Also it will help them out in terms of employment as well. What are the import regulations for this & can they be registered once professionally repaired. Hope I get some or any feedback on these issues as it is getting a bit frustrating & I think I am really loosing it over here. Thanks Warren
