Your target market depends on the vehicle u own. In any case, try posting an ad in the classifieds (unless its a bus or a lorry or something, it should sell). U might be pleasantly surprised. BTW what's the car?
-
There are plenty but what prevents you from selling your car and buying a pickup? I'm sure you will get a better deal that way. Start off by posting an ad in Autolanka classifieds section for your car.

Stop answering for posts off the top of your head. Technically one can get sued or fined for using these type of plates for old number series. But the trouble is most cops don't know this law so people also think it's ok. That doesn't mean that u can't get in to trouble for using these plates. So it's always better to avoid these.
-
since when did the government start issuing plates that begin with '3' ???
-
no. u can't have WP or fuel type on old license plates in the old system, the front plate must be black with white fonts on it. note - I didn't write the rules.

I wonder why all the Corolla promoters are coming out of the woodwork... Kia cars are as reliable as any other car on the market. Do look for one which is imported brand new. Singapore imported fleet cars aren't in a good condition compared to brand new imports. Picanto is also a good choice if you are not worried about resale and the usual yada yada. You might be able to pick one for a real bargain because of the same concern. Try negotiating. Another one of my Korean favourites is the Hyundai Getz.

Looks like you've been taken for more than one ride! I bet the threewheeler guy got his share too

If your budget is 1 million tops and if you are new to cars, I strongly suggest going for a petrol instead of a diesel. Why? Older diesels will have ample maintenance work for you to do, including engine overhauls, which don't come cheap. So your total cost of ownership will be high, although your fuel costs will be lower. Consider a well maintained Doctor Sunny (FB13) petrol car. Very reliable and good on fuel.

From what I know, Everest is a tough off-roader, which is durable and has a good safety record. On top of it, I've dealt with Ford agents and they seem to be better than Mitsubishi agents. Montero Sport on the other hand, is a more comfortable ride. If I ever have to select between the two, I would choose the Everest without thinking twice. But having said that, you are a government servant permit holder and typically (hope I am not stereotyping here), you will be concerned about prestige, resale value, spares availability and most likely you will not subject your vehicle to any off-roading experience. Going by these criteria, you are probably better off looking at Montero Sport, Santa Fe, Sorento, Sportage and Tucson. These vehicles seem to be very popular with permit holders nowadays.

Need Help To Buy A Hatchback Car
Crosswind replied to palliyaguru's question in Car Buying Information
Not sure exactly what u observed, but generally Proton vehicles with the campro engine tend to rev more than other vehicles before switching gears. I feel what you observed is quite normal for the auto-tranny version of the car. Perhaps a manual will be more suitable for you (if you are the type that doesn't mind manual trannies). There are two trim levels which the Gen2 came in (as far as I know). One version was a full option with body colored door handles and the other version was without power mirrors and only front power shutters with matte black door handles. The matte black one does look a bit cheap. My advice - always look for a brand new imported car, if u are considering a Gen2 -
Need Help To Buy A Hatchback Car

That's Satria Neo. Agents have brought it down. Costs about 3.5 Million brand new as far as I remember. When u say 'similar 4 door car', is this what u mean? When I had a chat with the service guys at the Proton service center guys, they mentioned quite a few issues with this particular model (Savvy), especially related to costs of engine parts (engine is designed by Renault), gearbox issues etc. So I wouldn't personally recommend this one. -
Need Help To Buy A Hatchback Car
Crosswind replied to palliyaguru's question in Car Buying Information
Gen2 is a good car to own but its not a Toyota or a Nissan so don't expect it to be famous. The fact that its not made in Japan doesn't help it to gain fame either. Fuel Economy - Does about 8-9 km/l in the city, but I believe the one Pericles had, did around 10 Maintenance costs - Not too bad. Not as cheap as a Corolla but there are spare parts importers outside the agent too. Agent prices aren't too bad either. Condition - Brand new imported cars to Sri Lanka generally hold their condition well. Reconditioned fleet cars from Singapore don't. Maintainability - You may face minor niggles with the reverse sensors, security system and the electrical stuff. But the engine components and all are generally ok. Suspension might give away if you are too rough with it. Plus points: Very comfortable car, sporty look, very good handling, brand new imported first-owner cars are generally well looked after. Minus points: Bl**dy market perception in Sri Lanka about non-Japanese cars!, Suspension issue mentioned above. -
Factory fitted reverse sensors don't. Perhaps aftermarket ones do.
-
Perhaps its overfilled. Did u check the oil level in the morning before starting the car? In any case, do a full service with oil change, using an oil which is suitable for Sri Lankan climate. Fill it to the correct level. If the same thing happens after that, then you can start worrying.

If you want to prove that your odo is genuine, keep all the VET certificates & service receipts and get the vehicle serviced/maintained by people who know their job. That doesn't necessarily mean agents or 'reputable service centres'.

Unregistered Vehicle For Around 4.5 Million
Crosswind replied to mazda axela's topic in General Automotive
FYI Ford Focus is made in Spain. It's the only B/N European car you can get for that price range. I checked out Mazda3 also before I decided on the Focus. Focus has by far better build quality, options and comfort than Mazda 3. Only complain I have, is it's underpowered. 1.6ltr engine is not enough for the Focus. Nevertheless it does about 10 to the litre so I'm ok with it. -
JDNET is the resident expert of increasing the odo reading to fool people I heard there's a bloke near Kalubowila Hospital who can do this. I guess the threewheeler drivers in the area would show u the way. Be a good human being this Christmas and please keep the reading genuine. After all, you wouldn't want anyone to sell u a car with a fake reading would u?

Unregistered Vehicle For Around 4.5 Million
Crosswind replied to mazda axela's topic in General Automotive
Hope I'm not going off a tangent here, but may I also humbly suggest you to try out the Ford Focus? The version without all the fancy options go for around that price and it still has more options and comfort than any Jap u can think of. -
Rodius is sold as Stavic here (in Micro Trim)

I heard that the guy who originally posted this thread has sold his car, gone to thailand, got hooked to a tranny, migrated to Lithuania and now living happily ever after in Limpopoland with his two kids and a puppy named Toyota. For heaven's sake this is an OLD thread! Stop trying to solve ancient problems. PS. No offense Madhurades
