2010-2011-2012 prius idle time also considered as part avg.speed & avg consumption calculations because when you stay in idle if u use ac(air condition electric compressor getting power from the traction battery) when battery level going down petrol engine automatically kicks starts and recharge the battery when u r in idle mean power on (system ready) so .... when the time pass average consumption & average speed both going down yesterday i checked this thoroughly nothing to discuss further... believe it or not... it's up to you'll another thing.., this is not only with toyota hybrids when i was in europe i used a saab(a swedish car-not hybrid) that car also have a computer that calculates average consumption & speed with idle time

surprised by comments given by some people...... before i enter the highway i reset the meter (may be in kottawa town)and stayed few minutes outside the entrance gateway (kottawa makumbura) waiting for my cousin's vehicle that's why average speed went down to 60 km per hour,,but 175kmh touched within the first km on the southern highway.i driven this car 40000km+ plus for last two years,,and i also own nissan sunny n16,corolla 121 nissan sunny needs 8000 rupees of petrol to colombo-nuwara eliya-hakgala- NEliya city tours and back to colombo....corolla 121 need around 7000 rupees both are auto transmission. but this 3rd generation prius needs less than 2500 rupees of petrol for colombo-nuwara eliya-hakgala- few NEliya city tours and back to colombo(aggresive driving).E-CVT synergy Drive... so conclusion i think toyota made this machine a marvelous piece of engineering technology.it's not a luxury car it's a average sedan car with future technology srilankan government gave some tax concession for hybrid cars ,i think people have to take this opportunity to buy more and more hybrid cars. news item "as of October 2012, a total of 2.8 million Prius have been sold worldwide..."

last week travelled to nuwara eliya it does only 22km per litre coz climbing upto nuwara eliya but return from nuwara eliya via welimada bandarawela ratnapura colombo 40KM per litre.so both ways average around 31 km/l

Hybrid vehicles suceed in japan USA Europe and now in srilanka , it's normal country like srilanka's some ordinary people having this anti-Hybrid sentiment coz we are very conservative, many people prefer corollas civics sunnys but in the world's old continent(Europe) hybrid vehicles are more than civic's,corolla's & sunny's Hybrid vehicle such as third generation prius(2010) can match to a 2500 cc engine capacity car coz 1.8 litre engine +plus High power electric motor.(even world's fastest train TGV driven by electric motors) this is to give some idea to all these anti hybrid people.
