  1. Sorry bro was outta town for a few days... Only know of the ones you've listed so far im afraid, though I believe you're right in thinking there are a few more, shall ask around and see. Interesting question this...
  2. Oh good lord! This threads back! Can get hooked It is fun ha ha ha
  3. Going by his list of requirements, I doubt our friend here is the sort to touch a euro car with a ten foot bargepole! still, it takes all kinds.... One thing i forgot to mention was the K11 march.. there are several of those about and they are solid vehicles... There's one on the classifieds right now actually http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=14264 also. something like a perodua kelisa is within that range, and you'll be able to get a newish one http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=14211 and in case you do want to be different to the herds... here's a peugeot 206.. http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=13749 having said that, word of advice, Unless you absolutely need to do so (conditions of loan/lease etc) don't limit yourself to "english numbers" and "made after 1999". In the 1.3-1.4 mill range you can pick up some much nicer cars with older year of manufacture/older number plates if you just shop intelligently. Dont fall prey to the all too common Sri Lankan misconception than "newer numbers = better"!
  4. lol... end of thread there... miniace for the win!
  5. sorry boys, totally misplaced the sheet for a while, only found it this morning... anyway, here you go I was in Kart 3, the excruciatingly slow laps were the ones I stalled, the rest were just slow! Dunno who was in Kart 10... I think that was the twin Kart.
  6. Irmscher was a german tuning house, as far as I can tell all the Irmscher edition did was get the recaro seats and some body extensions... Mostly a Trim level. Isuzu and Lotus worked together in the 80's because both had ties to General Motors, Lotus used an Isuzu sourced engine in the FWD Elan remember? If i remember correctly, They did some suspension tuning on the Troopie, to make it more interesting on the road, hence the "handling by lotus" badging.
  7. The ford Courier is a pretty decent rig which is sadly overlooked by the market here in SL, probably mostly because of the faults of DMPC which was far more interested in flogging trishaws and cheap chinese tin cans than doing something with one of the worlds best mass market brands... shame really, but good news for those in the know! I've been in/driven most of the models on this list And i find the Nissan's to be the closest to a car when it comes to driving (they have a lower stance than the others), and they are pretty comfy things as well. Only minus point IMO is that they appear to have a slightly higher corrosion propensity than the others. The Mitsus, especially the strada are the most comfortable I feel and of course far and away the best performers (the ones with the 2.5 Turbo). Not sure about parts/maintenance, MasterDon will be able to elaborate. Isuzu cabs are as tough as their Lorries, but there is a bit of a refinement issue, those diesels are NOISY! I dunno about the Indians, The quality is improving but not quite there yet, you might get three years of service out of them but I doubt they'll run for 5 without throwing some strops.... All of the above have their pros and cons and at the end of the day it's down to personal preference really..... For me, they are all nice vehicles but I'll cast my vote for the good old hilux... Mainly because I have an LN106... My dad bought it brand new in 1993 and 16 years and over 400,000 KM later, with the engine rebuilt once, It's still going stong! It's definitely not the most comfortable of this lot, neither is it the quickest, but the way its put together, you kinda understand why the hilux is the first choice in war zones everywhere.... It really does feel like its hewn from granite... Ok, maybe I'm biased, but See what I mean about personal preference?
  8. Since english plates are your number one requirement, Im afraid at that price range your choices are Marutis and The koreans.... However, if you are patient, you MIGHT be able to pick up one of the Nissan AD wagons, which are pretty decent, if basic vehicles.
  9. Many happy returns of the day lokka... hope you have a great day and year ahead!
  10. haha well spotted... of course knowing what we know now its entirely possible that image 10 of this lot is the original inspiration for that.
  11. Err... in a word.... No. Just because a bunch of other people decide to be exhibitionists doesnt mean that we have to... Just IMO of course
  12. AL already has stickers, and they are issued to members who ask for them... It's been so for several years now.
  13. you sure? lap record was 36.00 when we went yesterday (according to the print out on the timing sheet) so dunno if it changed in the meantime My best effort was 39.70
  14. Point well made ripper, I think the simple problem is the forum for the most part is now generally well behaved as peri pointed out, we are almost "self moderated" in fact so admin and mods tend to feel that they dont need to log on very often... so when an asswipe like this shows up, they wont catch him.
  15. No one's disputing the experience machan, just the fact that it would be nice if it cost a tad bit less.... this really wouldnt have stretched so far if a certain individual didnt try to be all Internet Tough Guy!
  16. Wow that really is a superb effort from DD! Many Congratulations!!
  17. Thanks ripper, are your pics up yet? One oddity in the results I noticed was event no 19..., won by somebody in a Vauxhall Cavalier! How did that come about?
  18. Many Happy returns of the day MRM, hope you have a superb day and a wonderful year ahead!
  19. what does it matter? he isnt going to be racing what he drives on the Kart track now is he? By the way, it really would be nice to see the man behind the big words and the tough guy attitude sometime, you sound like a really amusing bloke! I'm really beginning to wonder whether you have a vested interest in the track and centre NOT doing well, since you seem to be so determined to drive away potential customers. Regardless, went there yesterday evening... track was quite wet with some standing water, but decided to go for a round anyway... and man it was SUPERB!!! those things really feel like they're flying when you give em beans, and the wet track meant endless entertainment in the going sideways department, although I'm quite happy to report i didnt spin it once! and my first instinct upon completing the first 10 minutes was to run to the ticket office and get another, but common sense kinda prevailed, since I was already soaked through! Anyway, it was indeed a very enjoyable experience and when you're actually in the damn thing running around that track you really dont think about your wallet lol. Its only when you're outside that the persistent feeling that the whole experience would be improved even more if it were maybe just a bit cheaper..... Still, I can categorically say i'll be going back soon, just not as often as I would REALLY like to, thanks to the pricing structure.
  20. what the hell is your problem man? Are you simply going out of your way to be offensive because you are an A-----E?, or does your rear end just burn particularly badly today?
  21. You got shares at the track or something little son? or are you the owner's boyfriend maybe? whatever your interest might be someone ought to give you a bit of help in how to carry out PR for this place, because I can categorically say this is NOT the way to do it! as somebody else pointed out, a lot of people on this thread ARE potential customers, but on the other hand we work pretty hard for our money and so obviously we are going to call a spade a spade when it comes to places that don't provide people with a good deal. This place is obviously pricing itself so high because it is the only game in town and that's just good business, but as customers we have every damn right to think what we want about their pricing structure, it IS our money after all. Thanks for the financial advice by the way, real wall street whizz you appear to be! So now unless you're gonna give AL members free tracktime vouchers or something, why don't you go back to putting your head up the track owner's arse where you appear to normally keep it eh?
  22. whats the brand on the expensive one machan? and did you buy it from here? I kinda need a good one myself.
  23. I wondered about that myself, but that car was quite new and kept in very good shape like all the cars in that fleet. And mind you I thought the brakes were bad in comparison to my 40 year old VW Beetle, which has drums at all 4 wheels!
  24. as you mighty have noticed, we ARE pleased that such a thing is happening in SL, just that the costs are rather high. The owner's overheads being high is no concern of ours, as paying customers we will definitely be concerned about getting value for our money, so there is nothing wrong with us considering the pricing too high. So it'd be adviseable if you chill out.
  25. Thanks have to be even handed occasionally no... yes please do add your experiences as well, same goes for anyone who wants to contribute in a sensible manner.... let's show the Maruti owners that we actually are capable of civilized opinions lol...
