  1. Awesome job DD... glad to see that the X is finally serving you well!
  2. Many happy returns of the day good sir, I hope you have a 105 octane, 100% awesome day and a fantastic year ahead!
  3. Valid point, although I should point out that this "toyotas are investments" malarky is a uniquely Sri Lankan phenomenon. At the end of the day though, this is still primarily a forum for enthusiasts and because of that most of us here will continue to make our "unsound" financial choices simply because we love the cars that we drive. To us, Life is too short to be spent in a boring white box no matter how many wanker mirrors, push start buttons and "as pihatu lights" it has. No one argues the fact that Axios, Allions and the like are competent products, its just that they are simply that: products. An appliance for getting from A to B with minimal involvement or emotion, the absolute antithesis of what an actual enthusiast looks for in a car. Which basically is why some of us choose to go down a rather different automotive route no matter how "not smart" we look to the Toyota worshiping herds.
  4. Dude, we get it... You hate toyota, its right there in your screen name. No need to keep going on like a broken record. Enough already!
  5. Apparently they have both been brought down by the same chap, not for personal use but for sale. The figures I heard were 70 Million for the Prado and 40 Million for the 300C... I suppose P.T. Barnum's famous quote will be proved yet again if they sell...
  6. Haha.... not bad ripper "built Ford tough" in action I see. However, I see your 230k and raise you this... '93 Hilux 106. 3L Motor, one rebuild at 250k. Of course pretty much any brand new import with traceable, proper service history should be capable of going on indefinitely if you run it enough and keep it running well.
  7. Euros are a MUCh more interesting subject! Well I bought the car from the first owners, it had done 75k when I got it and had a lot of little things to sort. Some suspension work, engine work, interior work etc. Nothing electrical so far but you never know really... they throw up the weirdest little issues sometimes. Thankfully there now is a specialist for VW group products here so that is a big help.
  8. Close, It's a 2002 Passat 1.8T... Congrats on the purchase, VWs are bloody good cars as long as you understand and accept that they ARE going to throw the occasional random issue up every now and again. As long as you can deal with that they are superb.
  9. Honda City?
  10. Very easily, if such a spec was available in japan. Another reason could be that the seller has removed the "sunny" badge on the car and replaced it with a "Bluebird Sylphy" badge to fool the gullible.
  11. This sorta stuff really does brighten up ones day to no end, all these jokers imagining that they have gotten themselves the best car in the world lol.... Me, I'll stick with my "Old technology" German that'll do 7km/l in the city on a good day thank you very much.
  12. 2010 Hyundai Tucson
  13. Plus Singapore and Monaco are both on 100% public roads.
  14. 175kph is a nice velocity for a sunday drive dont ya think? AWT Bitches!

  15. Devinda, would have been too easy, esp since you were there when the photo was taken! Plus, you'll notice I had already gotten the Jeep FC Anyway, floor's officially open... if no one comes up with something today I'll put one up.
  16. Willy's Forward Control right? I believe Mahindra also did a knockoff/licensed copy of it.
  17. Yep... Dayumn, 8 minutes... not bad!
  18. Trivia's been quiet for a long while.... So here's a new one DEVINDA Z BARRED FROM REPLYING AS HE KNOWS THIS ONE
  19. No major secrets man... Just oil and filter changes at 5000Kms, Always use the right oils and parts. Both vehicles are 90s Toyotas, Top pic is a 1995 Landcruiser KZJ77 with the 1 KZ-T 3.0L Turbodiesel. Never been overhauled though a coolant related issue at around 200K required some cylinderhead work. Full overhaul is about due now. Second pic is a 1993 Hilux with the good old 3L coded 2.8L NA diesel. Overhauled once at 250,000KM. Both of these are used daily....
  20. OT but this whole "dieing after 100k" story made me grin a bit. Below are the odometers of the two vehicles I use most regularly, taken recently as they both hit amusing mileage figures within a couple weeks of each other Say what you like about toyotas, but the vehicles they built in the late80's/early 90's were sure built brilliantly! Both vehicles have been in the family from brand new so the mileages are verified.
  21. As suggested by Masterdon, here is the big one of the 2010 AL awards.... YOUR vote matters, use it wisely! And if ive missed out any deserving candidates, please let me know... Edit: Shite... forgot Crisco nihal! Edit 2: Due to his almost unmatched ability to go from 0 to "Full retard" in the shortest possible time, toyota sucks has also been added as a write in contestant!
  22. Its really funny who he shares a bday with! Anyway, many happy returns of the day Dev_z.. Hope the incoming year is an awesome one!
  23. Many happy returns of the day Mr W. Hope you have a good one!
  24. Actually I wouldnt entirely discount that Geely. That car (Known as the Geely Panda in other markets and the New Micro Trend in SL) is actually quite a decent little thing. Test drove it for an article recently and was quite impressed at how much the chinese have improved quality wise since the last generation of cars.
  25. Technically AFAIK there is no specific reference to detectors in the law as yet. So basically you CAN use one at your own discretion. So far, they cant actually stop you for having a radar detector.
