Those rear locks are plastic and get worn off with time, its better to get them replaced. Even I am thinking of doing the same. But again, there is a way to live with the problem too. Press the door in between the C piller and the middle of the back door window (marked with a yellow arrow in the picture attached) with the palm and pull the door handle with the other hand while pushing. You should be able to open the door from outside with ease with method.

Indika is big rip off. He will keep your car in the garage for multiple days for a 5 minute repair claiming it is a complex issue. Be careful with him. The "Mechanic" you refer to is the best guy for Puntos in Sri Lanka (I believe he is the same guy I use). I would buy any Punto which is maintained by him any day. It is the same guy who maintains my Puntos for the last 2.5 years and throughout the history of my 2 Puntos. Mind you these are 8-9 year old cars which are bound to give you running repairs.

Mitsubishi Lancer Ex - Optimal Fuel Consumption
Harry (aq) replied to dasunh's topic in General Automotive
Only tints. nothing else yet, had a plan to add the stock spoiler but then I bought my second Punto for wife. so any plans of mods for my Ex are postponed until I get stabilised with my cash flow. May be, Spoiler, wind shields, the new stock audio/radio set up with the screen and new tints.- 64 replies

Mitsubishi Lancer Ex - Optimal Fuel Consumption
Harry (aq) replied to dasunh's topic in General Automotive
Welcome to the club bro. You are correct, my manual Ex does 13 in the city and 16-17 outstation. This is without compromising the enjoying the car. A/Ts are expected to have an economy around 10, My boss has one and boss's the driver is a very aggressive driver and it still does 9-10 in city. So my point is, why do you want to compromise your diving pleasure to have a 0.5 improvement on the consumption? For an example, in my case I run about 2,000 km per month, I get an average of 12.5-13 kmpl. Say if I want to increase the consumption by 0.5 kmpl from 12.5 to 13. Which means my savings on fuel used will be just 6.15 liters which is in money terms on 95 octain is LKR 800 per month. For which I have to forego a lot of fun which is not a sacrifice I am willing to make. Same way an improvement of 10kmpl to 10.5kmpl will save 9.5 liters and LKR 1,200 per month on 2,000 km. Conclusion - Just have fun with your car.- 64 replies

Hi Guys, I am looking for another Grande Punto for my wife. Please PM me if you come across a well maintained one. I am going through the ones which are advertised on AL and Ik##n Thanks.
-
Haha, exactly my point. 40,000 over 7 years, which means an average of 480km per month. that is too low for even a second car for me.

2007 brand new car with a 40k mileage is bit suspicious for me since that averages around 5,700km per year which is less than 500 km per month. Generally Lancer EXs are daily runners. Check the status of the tyres. if the mileage is accurate the car should be in the 2nd set of tyres and they should be relatively new. Are you talking about a Back one with a spoiler?

I know all about GP thanks to Croswind.

Try talking to euro motors, they get info on the cars for sale. If I remember correct, there were only 104 GP brought down here by them. According to them, I am running the lowest milage :-) at 37k and the maximum they service is somewhere around 120k.

I guess we have. Both current and previous owners.

Selling And Transferring A Car Bought Under Permit
Harry (aq) replied to PubuduDP's question in Car Buying Information
Thanks Don, Or may be they use the same value which was used at initial registration and taxation. And the other question is if they are using the USD value or the LKR value. because the USD value is subject to current exchange rate. -
Well this calls for a meetup..... What do you guys say????

Radio panel issue is due to the SL climate. have you tried the Agents? (Eu!o Mo!!rs) the guy (Sorry I cannot tell the name on this thread) there is the best in the country for GPs. I had the same issue with the speakers. The cloth (i am not sure what it is called) in the speaker needs re-pasting. nothing serious. Get all the speakers checked at the same time if you can.

I had no problems with the Blue and Me thus far. works fine and it is annoying when passengers are there :-) @rover - Even I had the GB issue. it is due to an oil pump which gets triggered with the opening driver's door before the start. this pump is supposed to stop with in 5 sec but the problem is that it does not stop at that time. I was advised by the mechanic at Euro Motors to open and closed the front door twice before starting which will stop this pump. I had the clutch failure and I got my gear oil changed with the repair and I rarely come across the problem now. Further, I make sure that I wait little bit more before starting the car after turning on the ignition. I wait for about 2 second after all the lights go off on the dash and then start. Another trick which I use when the gear box does not engage is as follows. (I do this after the 1st start) Step 1 - Switch off the engine on Neutral and take the key out Step 2 - Turn the ignition on again, with the foot on the break take the gear into drive position and switch to manual and switchback to auto. Put the gear on to neutral and turn off ignition. take the key out. Step 3 - Try starting again with waiting abt 2 seconds after the indicator lights go out on the dash after ignition. It works for me all the time. Hope this helps.

Harry (aq) replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
My boss has the same automatic version, her driver says it dows about 7-8 kmpl. but he is a guy who floors the paddle. I think it should stabilise around 10kmpl (city limits) after the engine is seasoned properly. That can take up to 10,000 km even. My manual does around 12 kmpl consistently on daily driving.- 800 replies
