  1. Thanks for the heads up, just a little overbudget though, looks like a pretty well maintained car. Have to check it out though, saw a sera fr just over 10Lakhs, so wondering whether to put in another couple of lakhs for that, even though I really want to try a Honda. Thanks for all the great advice and tips everyone, best forum around!
  2. Hey everyone, I just saw a CRX on autolanka ( See the ad ) the owner was asking 9Lakhs, a little overbudget for me. Is it worth it? Seems pretty stock... any replies will be greatly appreciated.

    Astina Vs Crx

Sorry if I sounded confusing, the bottom line is I want a (preferably 2 door) sports hatch which I can use as a daily runner with minimum hastle for a budget of around 8 Lakhs. Since I haven't had a Honda before, my preference for a CRX. I don't want to rice it or anything (maybe a Lambo door conversion down the line, but that's it). Thanks for the opinions everyone, and keep them coming!

    Astina Vs Crx

Well to tell the truth I've been driving "family" cars all along, station wagons, a 323 (looong ago), and I'm driving a Doc Sunny now (Diesel mind you). I really want to switch to something sporty for a change, not for looks, I want to feel the power at my feet. I also don't want the constant hassle, repairs, huge fuel bill usually associated with a fast number. That's why I thought the 2nd Gen CRX would be a good bet, I'm not an aggressive driver & I hope I wont have to spend more time in the garage than the regular tune-up, servicing & the occasional cock-up. I saw the Astina and it piqued my interest a little as it's in my budget too, I've driven the starlet as well but I'm sick of Toyota's & I've never tried owning a Honda. So if anyone has any more opinions, pls tell me, I'm really grateful for the loads of advice given by the Honda guys & Mazda guys on this forum. Thanks again everyone!

    Astina Vs Crx

Thanks everyone for the heads-up, If I can't find a good CRX in my budget for 7-8 Lakhs, next choice would be an Astina as they seem to be within my price range. Thanks again everyone for the info & advice!
  6. Hey everyone, just like to know what sort of petrolhead movies you consider the best you ever seen. Especially in terms of realism & overall great chase/racing scenes. Here's my humble opinion! 1> Mad Max 1 & 2 - No CGI low budget, extremely violent & in your face, loved it when I was a kid & still do to this day. 2> Italian Job - The original 60s version, not that Marky Mark Crap, gotta love the Mini! 3> Bullitt 4> The French Connection 5> Ronin 6> Gone in 60 Seconds Sadly very few movies from recent times can live up to the old classics, as for leaving out F&F, well personally, If I want to see a car going at warp speed everytime they turn on the NOS, I'd go and watch Star Trek. But it wasn't too bad, just hated the ricer plague that landed on our streets afterwards. Well those are the movies that helped make me a silent speed junkie. what about you?
  7. Thanks for the advice mate, no worries I'm in no rush. As for the starlet, I'm used to Toyotas and Nissans & I'm looking forward to driving a Honda. I'll be watching the classifieds as usual......
  8. Seems like the thread has gone dead, anyway I still haven't found a CRX within my budget in the ads, any info on the SiR version would be great, especially reliability, fuel economy etc. Saw a dual carb in the autolanka ads but the guy was asking more than 1 mil, seems a little too much for a 2nd gen. Especially when I saw a fully modded & tricked out del sol for abt 2 mil sometime back. Thanks for all the info guys, especially RacersEdge, I hope I find my CRX soon.......

    Astina Vs Crx

Thanks for the replies, I'm a Honda fan myself, I was looking for a good CRX in the ads & saw the Astina pop up a few times & they were pretty low priced("cheap" seems a dirty word). Anyway what's the fuel consumption on the Astina? Any ideas?

    Astina Vs Crx

Hey all Mazda buffs, can someone tell me, from the viewpoint of fuel economy, reliability, maintenance costs & all around drivability which is better for daily running on Sri Lankan roads; the Mazda astina or Honda CRX? Thanks!
  11. Just thought we should have a thread for all those interested in saving fuel & getting more mileage. Especially techniques we can use in Sri Lanka & not stuff right off the web. Personal experience will be most valued. Tips on - Engine tuning, driving techniques, what engine oils, air filters, engine mods etc etc. So let's start posting everyone!
  12. Saw the orange CRX in the *****, way overbudget for me though, too bad, thanks for the advice on the d15b single carb....
  13. Thanks for the tips, I'll be checking the ads! Any advice on the most economical CRX engine would be appreciated...
  14. Thanks for the great response everyone! Any more tips on fuel economy for the CRX? Like what type of engine I should be looking for? I want the maximum mileage as opposed to performance
  15. Wow, looks like CRX is the way to go! Thanks RacersEdge, I'll definitely be going for one. Now patience & going through the classifieds.
  16. Thanks for all the replies, so I guess I have my work cut out for me. Still no one has said straight out not to get a CRX so I'll take that as a good sign!
  17. Oh by the way I looked into an MR2, & didn't find it too appealing, and also the small fact that it's a pure 2 seater. I know the CRX isn't a real 4 seater, but you can pop a person in the "back-seat" in an emergency right?
  18. Hey thanks for the quick reply & the info HelRazor, great to know that CRXs aren't so rare in SL, I'm really looking forward to getting one. Sounds like a really nice zippy car. But of course I really don't want to get stuck with a big burning hole in my pocket! And Tharindu, by pocket rocket I meant I want a small car that can run really fast! Pls don't give me that weird look! Anybody else with any more info, pls reply.....
  19. Hey Everyone, my first post here! I just want to know from all CRX 2nd Gen users, past & present out there whether or not it can be put to the daily grind? I really want a pocket rocket without the hassles of tuning, regular breakdowns & repairs. I won't be racing it or anything, but I need something that handles nicely and has a little pep. These are the points I wanted to clarify: 1. Fuel Economy What's your estimated mileage from past experience? (I know this depends on the Engine type & specific model HF or Si etc, but your personal experience would be great) 2. Availability of Spare parts - Are they widely available & will I have to pay through the nose for any little part that breaks down? 3.What are the commonest problems encountered with it? 4.Finally for the budget of 7-8 Lakhs is a CRX 2nd Gen worth it or are there other cars which you would recommend over the CRX? I'd love to hear about past experiences driving the CRX, I'm really looking forward to buying one but I don't want to be in a rush & end up with a Honda Headache instead of a Honda CRX! Thanks everyone
