  1. Change the ATF and other filters are always good before you start regular use of the vehicle.
  2. I went to the Kandy same place you mentioned with originals. a Saturday morning.. no hassle only took couple of minutes.
  3. What is the reason for you to do engine flush? It is not advisable to do so if there is no real requirement. Check the previous post, that this matter discussed thoroughly.
  4. If you go through the previous thread all of us suggested not to do patchwork/glue stuff on radiator. But some lessons need to be learned in hard way. If you are in colombo area check these places suggested. If you are in Kandy .. go to the place I mentioned earlier. I just verified with my father.. His top tank was replaced by copper tank and fully welded. After the repair had couple of long distance travel. No issues came.
  5. These are my prices for Indian Marutis Maruti 800 = "Nikan dunnath ganne ne" Maruti 800AC = 600,000 Maruti Alto = 900,000 Maruti Zen = 1,000,000. I don't say i'm gonna buy at these prices. But if you are die hard fan of Maruti .. and you are so dumb to think that going for brand new Maruti is worth than 8 - 15 year old Jap car, these are the maximum prices you should pay. (All inclusive)
  6. I think your main point is wrong here. So rest of the story is same. For the price you send for Maruti 800 you can buy less than 10 years old Nisssan - March K11 with English plates. I know Alto user who had to replace break pads/steering arm or some thing (I'm not very technical on it) with in first 3 years of the car. I've drove if for my self (Alto/800 and March belongs to my friends) As you said using brand new Maruti is really not good idea for 5 years. And after 5 years I doubt whether you can sell it for reasonable price. And you say it's really difficuilt to find a well maitained Jap cars. I have seen so many well maintained Jap cars in the 2nd hand market .. specially March-K11 / Toyota Starlet (same class vehicles). Infact I got 14 years old Honda about 12 months ago. Only thing issue I faced is speedometer sensor replacement which cost me only 7500. Don't even used the the word Investing on Maruti it's gonna be total loss after 5 years. And during the 5 years you gonna use it you can have .. all the discomfort / lack of space / lack of safety / lack of being owner of real car / etc.. Target group for this car is the Group actually should avoid this car. If you have enough money and wanted to buy 2nd or 3rd car to use for the requirments that full filled by Push bicycle or Mortorbike, then go for Maruti.
  7. Hi Rebel, if you can find used door and hood and other parts and Stafford agreed to fix them, Insurence should pay the total cost (only some taxes or stamp duties or stuff will reduced from total cost) Only reason Insurence company to not to pay total estimate is use of brand new parts. I was thinking agents does not allow us to give them used parts. So I think you should be able explain this to Aviva and get it done. If you gonna source fender, bumper, headlight .. why not try hood and door too?
  8. Yeh i wanted to ask same yesterday.. why new thread?? But gave up.
  9. Who would want to buy it? This would be bought by people who believe getting a unused Maruti for their hard earned 1 Million ruppes is worth than getting a used March or similar car in the it's class. Unfortunately they are mistaken.
  10. Hi Rebel.. Get well soon. The reason the insuarence does not cover the full amount is that they use brand new body parts (AFAIK). And agents does not use used body parts. And Insurence will pay only for depriciated value for the new body parts depending on the YOM of the vehicle. So if you can find a good place with used parts, total cost will be able to recover.
  11. That is the sad part of it.
  12. Adding to the list 4. Any moron can drive a vehicle without been tested for road ettiquet, no respect for passengers or by standers, don't give damn about on coming traffic.
  13. Do you have any off hand experience Handling / vehicle vibration at 70 with K11 Vs Maruti 800 ??
  14. Every vehicle has it's purpose of build maximum limit we can push, which will be depending on engine capacity/body style/performance+economy orientation and so many other things. The issue is Maruti/Alto will be competing with March and starlets in many aspects. Except for this brand new factor, Maruti does not deliver any thing else compare to it's counterparts. And the term Brand new does not deliver any meaningful value addition to the car (Maruti) as far as the examples I've seen with them. Or in simple terms 8,9 years old March or Starlet is still worth than the Brand new Maruti.
  15. 4M - 5M??? are you out of your mind. There are plenty of good Egnlish number plated March advertised in A/L around 1M - 1.2M... why on earth you waste your hard earned money on even more expensive Maruti's. Don't tell me it's be best value for money, NO it's not. But if you say it's the only/or very few BRAND NEW vehicle some can afford.. Yes you have point there.. all I can say it it's NOT WORTH IT.
  16. Tell your friend to buy some thing else.. used March, starlet or some thing.
  17. I think only by careful observation.
  18. It is located between Katugastota police station and Mag city. In the river side. There is only one place in that 200m streach if i'm not mistaken. Check out that place. If you have any issues finding the place PM me i'll give you the exact place. I think you should be little more carefull with the car. You did engine overhaul dint you? After the overhaul car should be better I suppose. Yes correct. (I edited my 1st reply, even I also don't recommend it by any means) Patching up with various stuff will not work. As I said we had long but still light crack where we can run over 50Km without loosing collent with moderate RPMs. Father tried with different brands of glue nothing worked up. So finally he replace the top tank with metal one. And this guy did decent job with matt-finish paid on the top tank.
  19. Similar crack happened in my fathers corolla wagon it's about 5 inches. It was plastic/fiber glass top tank. There was a guy in Kandy, he replaced the top tank with copper or some metal tank. So far not problems went one or two long trip after the repair. So far so good. In our case we could went around 50Km with maintaining low RPM without loosing much coolent. But still any kind of glue din't work on it. So best option is just change the top tank only.
  20. May be its not exactly 15L you had in your tank if you had about 12.5L pumping 30L will not automatically stop the machine. Or else after you pump your car still will be little below the full tank level. I had little doubt about one shed which i used to visit some time back. So I thought of checking it my self. I took 2L petrol can with me and marked 1L point. I used the credit card and asked him to pump 20 letres without telling the ruppee value. When he start pumping half way I took the can from the car and asked him to put only 1 letre to seperatly. so he put last letre to the can and it reached the mark i had on it. So no doubts there after went with peace in mind. (BTW I did this in Sunday after noon)
  21. There are guys who repair radiator cracks, but depending on the place the crack happened and the size of it. what is the price you got from agents is it 1.40K that means 1400. Or is it 14,000. Some do brass repair and will cost around 4500 - 6000. EDIT: patching up the crack with brass or glue wont work. Best is rediator replacement or Top tank replacement with propler experience guy.

    I Need Help

Any way.. ViRS must be very good buy and will carry out the demand for atleast another couple of years. If the tax reduction continue for some time untill this hype is over and market settle down, I think price will come down. Any how as of now 1.85-1.9 for manual is a very good buy. If its CVT (multimatic) do a full check up with agents. For CVT 1.75 - 1.8 looks ok for me provided it's a trouble free and in good condition.
