  1. Hi everyone, Couple o days ago my 2.5N/A 90 (12J) started a tapping noise from the engine, to put things short it seems its a seized piston, So I've decided to chuck in a newer unit, Well I do have a problem concerning what unit to use, 200Tdi would be the most recommended, would one know of the complete cost for this as its got drums in the back will it hold up? My other concept is chucking in a jap alternative.. Perhaps a 12HT? Specs run into the Td5 level and highly reliable. As far as originality is concerned i'm not going to sell her anyway and I have another original truck. If there are any other suitable engines or thoughts please feel free to share.. We'll I'm sure there maybe plenty of threads one these topics or related issues, But I need to know the latest opinions as I've seen more defenders lately in the island I'm sure more Landy owners might be on the forum too.. Thank you
  2. correct mate.. Your turn
  3. ok people try this, relatively easy..
  4. HONDA CRZ COUPE
  5. subaru forester?
  6. hi there, nice landy! She's in good shape.. and quite original.. I guess this is gonna be one interesting project.. What are your plans for her? Whats under the hood?
  7. Hello there mate.. Nice to see another landy lover inside... Of course yes, u ll be receiving plenty of requests for spares... due to the scarcity we have here.. Looking forward to see your project, cheers
  8. Yes, Camry is the answer... :)
  9. Sorry not that mate..
  10. Ok, how about this..
  11. Nissan cube?
  12. Thanks for you replies guys.. the usb thing worked, quite handy in the car.. thanks
  13. Thank you for your reply I was planning to place in on the dash, Seems the USB cigarette lighter kit thing would work.. the adapter says output - 5V / 2000mA perhaps I could then simply get a USB cable and fiddle with it so that its joined to the existing adapter jack I have.. Will it work?
  14. Hello everyone, Bit of an electrical question here, I've got this BOSE sound kit with IPOD dock gadget , meant for indoor use mainly.. its got audio outs so I can hook up to my sound system, Seems like it can be very handy on the dash, quite compact slim and looks good too, its got other bits like this voice operation etc Runs on an adapter from AC power The required voltage is 5V DC, I was wondering if there was anyway we could reduce the 12V voltage from a car to 5V, and also bring down the current I know a bit of electric stuff, but not sure which way to go for this prob, would simply adding resistors sort this out? Hope an electrical guru can shed some light into this thanks

    good one mate
  17. And I see that you haven't gone far with the Land Rover idea, A 90 Would serve your purpose very well, especially a tdi, more or less a Defender. Works for me If you can get one done up PROPERLY, They'll be trouble free and will always put a smile in ya face..
  18. Well i do not really know how much those modifications are worth, but they were extremely handy in some yala runs back in the day.. Anyways i think the price is worth it.. One thing i should mention is that thing can smoke a Tdi Defender... I wz da victim
  19. Look mate I know that particular vehicle very well and the owner, I'm not promoting it or anything but.. kindly look in to the specifications n stuff before you make comments on a public forum like this, and besides i'm sure the forum moderator would not approve your 'review' on each and every car advertised here.. Though it is a 30 year old vehicle it is quite considerably done up for off roading...
  20. Its very nice of you to put this up mate.. Very nice looking landy you've got there, very nice colour, Whats the engine you got there?
  21. Well yeah i have the same stuff on a 90 , ancillaries.. yes but overall shes fine. but actually i do use it very less, for it to give trouble.. or else a jap alternative but then thats the usual DEPENDER route
  22. Same here.. on the 90. quite a reliable engine from my experience, pulls well enough on a 90, though people complain about it in the 110s I suggested that since he was having issues in finding parts for the original engine, a decent 12J can be found as they are being replaced with tdi units all over..
  23. I am out of the country at the moment, I will upload pix as soon as I get back.. Thanks.
  24. Why don't you use a 12J? The engine used on older 110's and 90's relatively cheaper and trouble free as far as I know
  25. The issue is I do not reside in colombo, anyways as all you guys suggest a day in colombo should help me make some sense out of the issue.. Thanks again and nice to see the land rover gathering here..
