  1. Hi, I need to fix a new DVD player to my Axio. I would like it to be a multipurpose device with following attributes. DVD, Audio player Navigation (built in or via phone) GPS (built in or via phone) Bluetooth connection (basically to connect mobile) Better sound quality I did some search in the market and found following information There are Pioneer and Kenwood players with phone mirror capability. But GPS function has to be obtained by using an additional gadget which cost around Rs. 25k. Non branded Android players with all the required functionalities, but not sure about the quality. Could someone help me in getting more information. Are there Android players from the popular brands? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hello, I need to get repaired the head lights of my car. I checked for a solution in this forum but could not find the exact thing what I'm looking for. Even though I found many posts regarding the head lights cleaning, what I need to get done is to repair the head lights. The reason is after running in rain I can see the vapor / water drops at the inner surface of the headlight cover. Could someone recommend me a better place to get this repaired. Vehicle : Honda Civic ES8 Facelift model. Sorry if I'm re-posting something which had already being discussed here. If so, please direct me to that post Thanks
  3. I'm not aware of the technical points to say how the navigation systems of your Civic RS can be configured. But, the Sri Lanka map is available in Garmin. There is a Garmin office in Sri Lanka where we can purchase that map. Last year, I purchased a Gamin navigator from eBay. Before placing the order I checked with that Garmin office in SL and they confirmed that they can update any Gramin navigator with SL map. After I received the gadget from eBay, I got it updated with SL map for less then Rs. 4k. https://www.facebook.com/GarminLanka/
  4. Hi Thanks for the reply. Actually I changed the ATF during last July just after purchasing the car and I still drove about 5000 km after that. At the same time replaced all 4 plugs with genuine plugs and cleaned the throttle body as well. The engine idling keeps around 800 - 900 rpm with AC now without any variation. Do I have to worry with this situation regarding the gear shifting concern I have OR is it a normal situation?
  5. Hi All, I have a concern with the gear changing in my car which I bought few months ago. Model : Civic ES8 Model : 2005 - Face lift When driving it's RPM always reach 3000+ before changing to the next gear. Anyway it does not incur any jerk. But I wonder whether this is a situation which needs to pay attention because as per my experience the gear shift happens in 2000 - 2500 rmp in many cars. Appreciate your opinion on this. Many thanks

    Tyre Prices

Finally I selected Continental and fixed those on yesterday (all 4 tyres). Those looks good with a comfortable drive and low noise. Anyway still too early to comment more on those. But one of my friends selected the same for his Axio few months back and he is very happy with those tyres. Just thought to post my two cents here since it may be helpful for someone who is searching to select a better one among few good brands available.

    Tyre Prices

Hi All, I need to replace the tyres of my Honda Civic ES8 (2004). The tyre size is 185x60x15. With some market search, here are the options I'm considering at the moment. Continental - Made in Malaysia - Rs. 14500/= Dunlop - Made in Japan - Rs. 16500/= Michelin - Made in UK - Did not get the exact price yet, According to D*MO it would be around 19k Kumho - Made in Korea or Vietnam - Rs. 16800/= Pirelli - Can't remember the country exactly, may be Turkey - Rs. 20000/= (think too much?) Would like to know your ideas considering the performance and price. I do not like the tyres which generate higher noise. Comfortable and performance (and obviously the safety ) are the main concerns. One of my friend and also a tyre shop highly recommended the Continental (Malaysia). Any idea please.

    Rav 4

Thanks for your responses. With that information I feel that I should rethink whether I should go for a RAV 4 or a car since it is not an actual SUV.

    Rav 4

I believe there is no wrong in doing a new post regarding RAV 4 because of there were no recent posts for that model. I just wanted to have a comparison by considering the factors like reliability / performance and price. Due to the market conditions in these days most of the common vehicle models are over priced. But it looks like the models like RAV has not been impacted that much. Anyway I prefer to get to know the current market condition with my search.
  12. Thanks DVT and Bubi. I agree with both of you. The major point I considered the Sylphy is because of it's interior quality and the price. At the same time FB 15 new shell is also a good car even though it's interior quality is not that much attractive like Sylphy's. Anyway the FB 15 has a better market in SL. The problem is due to the inflated market condition during there days, it looks like most of the FB 15 s advertised look over priced.
  13. Hi, I'm also in your boat. But it looks like a good 121 or vios would not coming within that budget....
  14. Thanks Stig.....

    Rav 4

Hi Experts, I'm considering to purchasing a Toyota RAV 4. But I do not have much knowledge about that vehicle. With some search I understood the market value of that model for YOM 2000 vehicle comes around 25 lacks during these days. I need to know following information about that vehicle. Is is a reliable vehicle Is the price for YOM 2000 auto vehicle of that model is around 25 lacks How about the fuel consumption when transmission is auto Pros and cons in 1.8 l engine and 2 l engine Any better vehicle I can consider for that price range (below 25 lacks) ? Appreciate your valuable ideas. Thanks
  16. Hi NRX, It is not clear what you have mentioned as "1.5 lacks the oomph while the 1.8 got enough" ? Thanks
  17. Hi NRX, Thanks for the information. Actually there was a car for sale which was marked as 1.9 engine and in the photos it could be noted the 2.0 badge. Anyway according to your information 1.5 would be more common and economical.
  18. Hi Experts, I'm looking for a help from you. I sold my car recently and need to go for a car for about 2 Mil. My idea is to by a car for that price and use it for about one and half years and go for a better one later since due to some other reasons I'm not in a position to spend more than that during this year. With some search I found Bluebird Sylphy as a decent car which is available for my budget. But I would like to get to know following information about that car. YOM - 2001 - 2004 Transmission - Auto Fuel consumption in 1.5 l model and 2 l model ? At the same time I'm considering following vehicles too. Toyota Cami Mazda Familia 1.5 Auto FB 15 New shell 1.5 Auto Toyota 110 1.5 Auto Swifts (Indian) zxi YOM 2007 / 8 Appreciate your support.
  19. Hi, Let me provide my idea about Mazda 2. It was early last year when my aunty wanted to get a car for her permit. Due to her limited budget, we had to search more and contacted the C** M**t as well. They offered us Mazda 2 sedan for about 2.7 m. I did not have any issue with the quality of that vehicle. But it was a rare model in SL and they did not market it either. Considering those facts we did not go for that vehicle. Even today I rarely see that model on the roads in SL. But I strongly believe, if some marketing has done, there is a higher potential of been popular that model in SL
  20. Hi All, Thank you very much for your ideas. Actually if there are more better options I can look for, really like to think about those as well. I also like for a MyRoad but as you have mentioned, need to check whether it would be possible for my budget. Is there any better solution with an European car? Peugeot 406 or Volkswagen Passat ?. I think Toyota 110 is also a good choice but I think that model has manufactured before year 2000. Lancer is also a better idea. But I believe it should be for 1.6 engine and doubt it would fit for my budget. I believe the sedans with 1.3 engines are underpowered (please correct me if I'm wrong) I did not think about Mazda because it is very much similar to the Ford Laser I own. Therefore I will not have a change by going to a Mazda Familia / 323. Appreciate more ideas since this is a kind of difficult target to have a sedan having a YOM later than year 2000 and coming below Rs. 2 mil Thank you very much
  21. Hi All, I'm planning to change my car. Currently I'm using a Ford Laser (YOM 2000, 1.6, Auto) for last 4 years and need to sell it and have a change. I would like to get your opinion to select the best I can get for below 2.0 mil. Following models are in my mind and would like to know your ideas about those models as well. Preferred a sedan having YOM after 2000. I'm not a daily user of my car but I use more during the week ends and travel long distances as well. Honda Accord - How about the fuel consumption Toyota Carina SI MyRoad - Would it be possible for my budget? Nissan Bluebird Sylphy Nissan N 16 Highly appreciate your suggestions and ideas Thanks in advance
  22. Hi, There is a nice blog on this topic. http://locolanka.blogspot.com
  23. Hi All, Thanks you very much for your valuable inputs. We will discuss based on your responses and select the vehicle. Most probably we would go to a Sorento OR Montero Sports. But X-Trail will also be considered. I will update this thread after purchasing the vehicle.
  24. Hi All, Thanks a lot for your responses. As with your responses we would like to consider about Harrier Hybrid and X-Trail as well. The main reason to consider a diesel or hybrid vehicle is the cost. I believe a SUV would need more power and hence more fuel consumption when it is petrol. Even though we are looking for a SUV, my brother will not try to use it for hard off-road rides. Therefore we can give more marks for the comfort as well. But a vehicle like Vezzel is not an option. He can stretch the budget a little (few hundred thousands) but not much more. Would it be possible to get a Harrier Hybrid for that budget when it is only few years old? What is the better way of prioritizing the available choices? KIA Sorento Mitsubishi Montero Sport Mitsubishi Outlander Toyota Harrier Hybrid Nissan X-Trail
  25. Hi Magnum, Thanks for the response. Do you have any idea about Sorento. I meant the durability of it?
