Hey Guys Just wondered if anyone knew where to find motor and motorsport related clothing and the like in SL.... Anywhere?...
-
Definitely, With both Ferraris and the mclarens at the back it should be good. Qualifying was unusually action packed, i hope the race is just as good if not better.

I agree. Although I have reservations against hamilton he no doubt drove a good race. The real casualty in my opinion was vettel as this is the 2nd time his car has let him down whilst leading. Its nice to see strategy prevailing again despite no refueling, and button really nailed it with that brave move to pit so early.

Source: Speedtv.com Jenson Button won the second round of the Formula One world championship in a dramatic Australian Grand Prix Sunday. Button inherited the lead when pole sitter Sebastian Vettel suffered mechanical problems for the second race in a row losing a left front brake on lap 26. The drama began prior to the race when rain began to fall. Teams started on the intermediate wet tires and the action began at the start when Button, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher collided in the first corner, with the McLaren spinning the Ferrari into the Mercedes. On the second lap Sebastian Buemi, Nico Hulkenberg and Kamui Kobayashi were all involved in a crash at Turn 5 that started when, for the third time of the weekend, Kobayashi’s machine lost the front wing. The safety car was deployed until lap 5. Button’s team gambled and dove in first to change to soft slick tires on lap 6 as soon as the field went green. That appeared at first to be the wrong move as Button slid on the drying track and went off momentarily at turn 3. A few laps later the rest of the field was forced to pit and change to slicks. After being handed the lead, Button managed over 50 laps with the tires while most, including his teammate Hamilton, saw theirs go away. The defending world champion would go on to score his first victory for McLaren and score the first repeat win on the same track in his career. Robert Kubica ran a brilliant race bringing the Renault home in second after charging from ninth on the opening lap. Alonso was third followed by teammate Felipe Massa in fourth. Nico Rosberg rounded out the top five. During the second half of the race, a furious battle ensued for fourth through sixth as Massa held off Alonso who in turn had his hands full with Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton meanwhile was forced to hold off Mark Webber. With three laps to go Hamilton finally got to Alonso, but as Hamilton was trying to pass the Ferrari on the outside he was hit and turned by Webber. Both cars suffered heavy damage but were able to continue; Hamilton finished sixth and Webber ninth with Tonio Liuzzi in seventh and Rubens Barrichello eighth. Schumacher damaged his front wing during the first incident and was forced in for repairs. He was never able to fight his way back through the field and fought with Jamie Alguersuari nearly the entire race finally passing him in the final laps and taking the final points paying spot in tenth. A total of 10 cars retired before the race was over, with Heikki Kovalainen and Karun Chandhok the only drivers of the four new teams for 2010 to finish the race under power. Awesome race imo. Much better than Bahrain...

Hey Guys... Was wondering what the real meaning of a 'reconditioned car' was.A while ago an auto seller told me that being reconditioned the car in question had naturally (reconditioned being to his definition) had all the panels, glass, lights and interior and some other things totally replaced to make it 'brand new'. I however was not convinced at this explanation... So guys, what really does it mean to recondition a car?

Interesting article which makes specific reference to vehicles: http://www.lankatimes.com/fullstory.php?id=25338 Quote: 'Even the IMF acknowledged that Sri Lanka could not generate the income it expected in the 2009 budget, particularly duties from vehicle imports. "The government imposed high duties on vehicle imports, sometimes as high as 300 percent. This resulted in depressing the vehicle imports market and the government did not gain what it wanted. These are some of the issues the taxation commission is looking at and would try to resolve. High taxes do not serve the purpose," the official said.'

Nice link. Some really cool metal there. Thanks

As far as the meaning goes the EX stands for 'Extra', (can be translated as exclusive, executive also) and the i denotes fuel injection.

This car was a key car in the Honda-Rover partnership that was presnt through the 80s to mid 90s. It shares many parts with the rover 200 and 400 of that era, and was produced in England and Japan, most having a 16v SOHC 1.6 engine. Having spent quite alot of time in England I would say this car was mildly popular in its Honda form, and extremely popular in its Rover guises. I'd be interested in if this is the English or Japanese made model. And by any chance is this the white concerto with a 'beat' silencer?

I went there today, and the paint comes in a variety of versions. Around 8 I think... However the price shocked me to say the least: 55,000 per liter. No that wasn't a typing error. They also have black based paint with three colours of flakes in it which also kinda changes in the light for 8000 per liter.
-
Well thats unfortunate/stupid...

Where abouts in union place?

Hey guys Does anyone know where to get perscelent (Paint that changes colour depending on light conditions) in sri lanka? Thanks in advance

The Micro van is being advertised in the Motor Magazine as the MPV J High Roof with a 2.5L Direct Injection Turbo Diesel and The images are shamelessly bad Photoshop chops of a Toyota van with a micro badge and branding on it. Safety features are as comprehensive as front seatbelts and a fire extinguisher as standard.. While luxuries span to manual front mirrors and intermittent rear wipers.... Yes, this is what has been advertised...
-
Ahh, yes I forgot JDMs...
-
If i'm not mistaken the 1.8 came for the later model P11-144
-
No. Just 1.6 and 2.0 Petrol, as well as a 2.0 diesel

Hey Guys I've been getting conflicting reports from friends ect. When really can you get a Learner License? 17 or 18? (Legally )
-
How about breaking the norm and going for something european? It would certainly be more fun to drive than most things japanese (No disrespect) and comfort should also be second to non. And picked well one could offer you many miles of trouble free motoring. Perhaps my reasoning is a little short sighted, but I'd pick something like a good used 3 series over a swift any day. And It'll impress your mates.

Nissan Lucino?

Hurrah! I agree fully with Kavvz. Who cares if it isn't worth it anywhere else, or too crude compared to European cars. The fact is (with a little help from shia la bouf and megan fox..) the camero is a future classic, and its nice to see people excited about a car for a change. A good antidote to election fever if you ask me...

Yeah, it true about the infrastructure. Its a shame to think that hardly any of the tax earned from cars has been directly put back into the roads... If tax were to be reduced I would imagine a flood of people would flock after new and reconditioned cars, like after the import ban. And no, our roads probably wouldn't be able to handle the influx... Interesting what Gtam heard. If they did reduce tax the importers would get hurt for the cars they already have, but surely it would benefit them in the long run, so sooner the better? I guess not....
-
Its very true in the sense that the government has really shot itself in the foot by increasing taxes to the dizzy heights they are at now. By doing so, instead of raking more money in from imports, they have chased new car buyers away and reduced unregistered car sales to a pittance. Actually, any rethink on import tax wouldn't be because of the government realizing the plight of the motorists, it would most probably to get more money from the import of cars again.... Sad but true..

Just like to get your opinions on matters with car tax. Right now there is a lot of buzz about a supposed imminent reduction in car import tax. However, as of yet there is still nothing solid us car fanatics can bank on... So what do u guys reckon the chances are and when. And if so, by how much? It doesn't take a genius to figure out we need a reduction in car tax as SL is one of the most expensive places to own a car. The problems this has caused to people are numerous, like families who anywhere else would otherwise afford a safe family saloon are forced to pile themselves onto motorbikes or into 3 wheelers... And of course those poor car importers who are no doubt struggling to make ends meet... Dare I ask would the elections make any difference? :S
