  1. I believe this is the case cos ...if you are with your foot on the brake and there is a rear end collision, and your car is on N, there is a chance for your leg to slip off the brake and result in a collision with the car in front !
  2. i have successfully been running my GDi for over 240,000kms without symptoms...Encountered something similar thereafter...., The symptoms do look like that of coils or valves ... Do check if there are any oil leaks into the plugs and if so ... an engine head may need to be replaced if its cracked... also do a compression test and an injector pressure test...for GDi 's it needs to have a 50 bar pressure from the injectors to ensure its smooth... Timely oil checks and oil filter replacements can actually keep the engine going good for a long time.... you might also want to check the CVT gearbox for the transmission problem... Certain gearboxes had a Repair Kit released to sort out a manufacturing defect with one of the cogs inside the CVT. Check on this and repair cos replacing with a recon gearbox may lead to the same problem later on....... Cheers

  13. Sunday Times News - Sunday March 06, 2011 - http://www.sundaytimes.lk/110306/News/nws_26.html Spoke in wheel for Kandy night motor race By L. B. Senaratne A night-time motor race in Kandy, scheduled for next Saturday, may not take place if the Public Property Protection Society has its way. The race, for which roads will have to be closed to the public, has drawn sharp criticism of the organisers and the Kandy Police. Municipal Council member Anura Gonawela told the Sunday Times that the organisers. the Sri Lanka Motorcycle Club and the Kandy Offroad Adventure Club backed by Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and other influential government supporters, should have obtained prior permission from the Kandy Municipality. He said the historic city of Kandy was not a suitable venue for this type of' “play.” The route for the night race includes Peradeniya Road, Colombo Street, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya, and Sangharaja Mawatha. A part of George E. de Silva Mawatha, the starting point for the race, will also be closed.
  14. The "S" as per the picture is = to the "L" and can stand for SNOW since its the gear used in Snow driving ! and sometimes "S" is for Sports!
  15. ... And worse if there are people crossing in front of you in a case where you are first in line and stopped at a light !!!
  16. Shifting to N when stopped could be a safety hazard if Someone smashes you from Behind and your foot gets dislodged from the brake since you tend to keep your foot a bit more light footed compared to when the car is in D and when you are pressing on the brake pedal......... I was told not to shift to N by a driving instructor abroad as it was considered a safety risk .....as the car is in Neutral and is harder to control in an emergency!

    Cops On Al Forum

With all these threads going on about Window Tints, Mufflers, Radar Detectors and sharing of ideas about evading and working our ways around the cops....Do we know if we have any COPS in the forums that are reading all these threads???..... It would be nice if we could pass on certain suggestions to them cops so that something good comes out of the forum Cheers
  18. The Radar detector goes off on RF signals, The cobra I have started beeping when a cop flagged me down for a random check..... He asked me what it was...I said its an Air purifier unit sitting on the windscreen ....and it beeps when it detected the glass is open and when there was a change in the air.....he bought it !
  19. Dear Don, I don't think this is to be taken as a positive thing....Driving against the rules just cos you are in a defender should not be something to be proud of..... Interesting comment to make on a forum ! Please go get the licenses and insurance sorted...It will help ... !
  20. I seriously hope someone can cut this article and publish it or even put it up as a hoarding in the middle of town....good work Adding a few more 1. If you are riding a motor bike...Please note that its not a 16 wheeler and you cant do more than 50kmph so please use the left lanes... 2. Please do not use the "Trickle Theory of water" when stopped at traffic lights...There are lanes for a reason...please stick to the lanes....It would be nice to see bikes and three wheelers sticking to lanes ....It would save a lot of dents , scratches and angry people on the road..... 3. Pedestrians - The Crossings are normally a few feet away from where you intend to start crossing....Please use them...It would help... Cheers

  24. As far as I know, Spares are cheap and available with both the agents and Hyundai dealers in Pckwatte!! ... Fuel has been around 10Km/l on the Matrix that I was using , No real issues except suspension needed changing.... Guess there was a rotten egg in the Hyundai Matrix basket
  25. Jami - I thought my explanation was clear - The Lights that are in Amber are an indication that you can move your vehicle for a short distance and need to get it checked ASAP...For the lights that turn on RED - It means - Do not move the vehicle, There is a safety risk or you could damage your vehicle and its at this point that you need to action on..Hope its clear !
