  1. I think the same as well. In the same market segment I have noticed Rav4 to be expensive than Xtrail, CRV, HRV, Pajero IO models and over priced too. I guess people don't get Rav4 because they can't afford to buy them and run them due to the economy. I would say second hand market is pretty decent but not be like a fb15 or corolla.
  2. Sir, you get to keep the steering wheel as a proud owner of the Cobra.
  3. Sorry to bring this topic back but was wondering what is the current state of the law as I'm thinking of tinting the windows of our vehicle except for the passanger and driver side. Recently I have seen some fully tinted vehicles for sale on AL too so if some one has any information regarding this I would grately appreciate that. Also what will be the rough cost to tint a Townace Noah and if some one has any good contacts please PM me. Thanks in advance.
  4. Bimmer for sure. BMW >>>>>>>> Merc
  5. Great. I used to love those Auto pages when I was back home. Personally I would love to read something more local regarding the industry than overseas stuff. All the foreign stuff are covered by many medias and less people write based on the local industry. I have listed a couple of things I would like to read. 1) An analysis of a popular local model (eg. FB15) each week with the pros and cons and some figures such as fuel consumption as you would have seen the amount of fuel related questions we have come across. I'm sure there will be many people wanting to see facts on black and white but again I'm not sure is this easy since you need to get a lot of data. 2) Give some coverage to local industry related events such as races, rallies, meets etc. 3) You could also get some contacts from popular garages regarding the stuff they have mastered and provide readers with info (eg. Best joint for pannel beating/painting) Will add more if I come across anything I think might be suitable. Well, the space spent well depends on the content of the space but I'm sure since there are not many papers carrying these kinda pages it will draw the attention. Specially these days where every one wants to own a car. It also depends on the language of the paper and if it's a daily or a weekend one. Weekend columns draw more attention but it might take time to get a solid reader base for your column. Me don't know much in the media industry, just my two cents. All the best with your writing and when you start writing some thing let us know.
  6. Yeah true, we live in one of those countries where prices of used vehicles go up. Btw dad managed to get a CR51 for 2.1M. He told it was in mint condition but haven't seen pics yet. Pajero IO is a nice vehicle but have read too many comments about the GDI having issues. My friends dad has one and they have never had any dramas. Keep us posted if you have any issues, just curious to know. The euro vehicle myth is very true. I saw a 406 hatch on AL couple of days ago for 1.4M and that sounded like a really good deal to me. Specially considering the ride and comfort you get with those euros. The market would take ages to settle because say there is a tax cut and the prices go a little bit down, many families who had a old car or an Indian one consider upgrading since it is a bit affordable for them. When many fall in this category, automatically the demand rises also people with a bike consider upgrading to a Jap recon or Indian vehicle so the demand for that segment stays high. Another issue I have noticed is people have more money to spend these days since there is peace and many business are flourishing. So they really don't mind spending more to get their ride. We all know that many car sales have a large margin and they are able to do so because there are people ready with cash to pay for it.
  7. Too much demand in the market for second hand vehicles. Specially popular Jap models. Any one who wants to sell their vehicle can do so within hours. It is also very hard to find well maintained vehicles so sellers are deciding what ever prices they wish. My dad too was on a hunt for a vehicle and managed to secure one after alot of trouble. Most of the vehicles we came across were badly maintained and the asking price was absurd, but the sad theing is there are people still willing to pay that amount and buy a vehicle. I have notice a slight change in prices for some models but Sunnys, Corollas, Carinas, Noahs are getting expensive day by day.
  8. Just to add some thing, the newer version is called Scooty Pep + and it has a little bit more features than the previous model. Haven't tried one though.
  9. Summith, One of my friend sister had a Scooty pep and I have ridden it too. Good bike for femals specially for short distance. The only issue is the small wheels and if you hit a pot hole or a bumb the vibration is alot and should be a bit careful with contrrol. Since it does not have a clutch/gears (all you need to do is accelerae to move) I think there are high chances to lose control though this differes to diferent people. I always believe bikes with a clutch has greater control. Don't know anything about the Bajaj as it was becomming popular after I left. I personally think Bajaj has a stronger resale value and easy to source parts than TVS though I might be wrong. Hope this helps.
  10. This was mine. A 2005 CBZ Star. The second generation one. Same here. Don't like the new Hunk but have never ridden it though. Btw I think Tata bought Land Rover but LR might own some stake in Jag (Might be wrong)
  11. Not again. If you guys know some thing please keep it to your self . I think these kinda threads are useless and every one say tax is going down down and so on. If it goes it's really good and I'm all into it but these kinda statements are not going to do any god to any one. I will buy a car if I can afford it and if it's reasonable and wouldn't worry about the tax and get depressed.
  12. Came from States and working for the media? Thats considered one of the riskiest jobs in the country JD . I watch some news online to keep my self updated and get annoyed with the load of BS the mouth. Let's all hail the king . Sorry for going OT.
  13. So true agreed many million times, and to add some thing wouldn't be a free country either. looking at the current trends - Atleast for the next 50 years or more.
  14. It's Micro's problem that they did not buddy up with some one big in the industry to get them self's established. I did not compare Maruti with Jap cars since it's comparing apples and oranges, both are in a different league. but IMO Maruti is way better than Micro. I know Maruti's are not great cars and they have so many issues but SL car industry has a long way to go to catch the Indian industry. Some things are just not suitable, same building cars are just not suitable for Micro unless they hang onto some on big. Probably they should take advantage of Geely buying Volvo and try to have a collaboration for RnD and design development. Some thing like Tata - Land Rover relationship. If the product has good quality there won't be any need for politics and restrictions to sell cars.
  15. I think it should be the "round head" pulsar which was the early model. I have ridden them and they were quite good. I can't see anything going wrong if it is maintained properly since had a mate who met many accidents and did stupid things with his Pulsar and it still kept going.
  16. I would say it is a bit different when it comes to bikes than cars. Obviously Jap bikes are great machines but Indian bikes are good too, at least to a certain level. Not like the Indian cars and they are quite reliable too, specially for what you pay. Never owned any Indian cars or driven them so can't comment but IMO Indian bike quality > Indian car quality If you just got the TVS to do short trips should be ok but have heard the resale value is low. Don't worry too much about that and just enjoy your bike. Never owned a TVS but many of my mates had Victors those days. When it comes to Indian bikes, always we owned Hero Honda's and Bajaj's.
  17. Personally me would go for a Maruti any time over a Micro. I think the Maruti is superior in many aspects than the Micro and talking about SL gov getting money, I'm sure it will all be suked by the brotherhood so I'm not that keen to give them revenue. Even if some SL entrepreneur comes up to make bikes it will take ages to catch the Indian quality and price. Micro selling things has alot of political back ground and I'm sure many members are aware of that. I would rather buy some thing affordable and decent and ride around than worrying about SL's economic impact regards to my purchase. Look how many millions are going in Jap vehicles. Bikes are the same too.
  18. Well, I think the point others are trying to say is laughing over a burnt Pulsar or any bike is not great and trying to point out how many people have benefited from these Indian bikes being cheap, reliable and economical. So what do u suggest?
  19. I have owned a CBZ back home in the days and have ridden a variety of Bajaj, Hero Honda, TVS models in SL and newer powerful Jap models overseas. Overall I wouldn't say the quality is not that bad. You get what you pay for in the price tag. TVS was a little bit bad quality bit less resale value but they all sounded good and were very economical too. My friend had a Hero Honda CD100 (I think that's the model) which gave him 90km/l and he used to travel a lot for cheap. SL is not a rich country for every one to own Jap, Euro, Italian bikes. These serve the poor man well and give them a chance of mobility too. I don't think any bike deserves to be burnt. If you don't like it - simply walk away. If these is some manufacture default, point it out with evidence so other riders will be careful on those models. Laughing at a burnt bike and saying they are shitty is purely BS. There are times I miss my CBZ even after being on some pretty powerful bikes. Comparing to those Japs is not possible. But still I love the way she sounded and the nice memories it gave are unforgettable. May be just a personal thing for me only.
  20. Thanks Vish and Dilesh. I was wrong if it is from Hongkong. Dilesh, since you have a D40X, did you buy it in SL and how much is the current price? My friend was buying a used D40X here from another guy and asked for my Opinion. The camera was in very good condition and he asked for AUD 400. I told him it seemed to be a good deal. Just thought to get your opinion since you own one.
  21. Most of the cars with a factory turbo have a guage fitted by the manufacturer but not dure about a Hilux though. If you wanna release preasure some cars have a manuel button in the cabin. For it to become too high I think you should be pressing the peddal quite hard for a while and you could see your rpm meter increase too. Just take your leg off the pedal and that will immediately get rid of your pressure as the engine will be in vaccum. I don't think you will blow your turbo/engine with normal driving conditions in SL. Even getting it to kick in migh be harder as it needs a little time and acceleration to kick in. If you wanna shoot from the lights or do a drag with some one you could do a "toe heel" trick. Thats pressing the accelerater with the heel and pressing the brake with toe of the same leg to get the boost to build and take the toe off suddenly.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it. Also could some one give a rough quote of wheels with or without tires in SL for different sizes (15",17"). Tried online and no prices. A friend told me it might be better to get them locally than sending from overseas. Any views on this idea? Thanks.
  23. My car had a factory turbo and when the turbo is not running the meter normally shows (-) pressure which means for vaccum and when you press the pedal turbo kicks in and the pressure gauge will show (+) figure. The gauge normally has positive and negative dials with a zero in the middle. When you know it's on the positive side you know the turbo is working. If you wanna drive economically try to keep it below zero always in other words don't make the turbo engage. If you boost the pressure too much it can damage the turbo which could also cause it to explode. I think the gauge is there so you do not exceed that limit but my one was running 7psi factory and I've never dared to touched it. You could normally go up to 3.5psi stock without any issues AFAIK. If you want more pressure you might need a after market inter cooler and better piping/dump system. This will be more suitable for performance vehicle. I guess a turbo charger is the similar version of a turbo in a petrol vehicle but the only difference is it is coupled with the engine so the functionality should be similar too. (correct me if I'm wrong). Hope this helps.
  24. Is Lambo Gallardo a Italian girl by any chance?
  25. Wishbone found in Calcutta poop pudding can make nice pulpy things tend to dilute with Dr.Mervyn's theory of Sylvi's experience of Samurdhi 50-years washing vehicles from junkyards to imported horses carcass. VTEC kicked in yo! Who the hell pissed unkel harshansenadhir off using diluted brasso that totally ruined his injectors in his chinese Buddy truck which used to break down all the time. Fat mechanic chick slapped masterdon for sticking his crank which was suffocating from her intake manifold being larger than her muffler which could result in flopping out oil farts due to a Wishbone, WTF said aunty and she started pulling Sylvi unkel's miniace out chinese Van made Ball joint whiggle while he tried to suck well-water from underground. Who thought that unkel could somehow get sensible advice from VVTi about Chinese buddy
