    Atf Oil Level

Low and High levels when the ATF is Cool or Hot. Hot levels are above the Cool levels as liquids expand when heated. So from the right of the pic, notch -- 1 - Low, Cool 2 - High, Cool 3 - Low, Hot 4 - High, Hot Though I'm not sure who'd check oil levels when the engine and GB are burning hot
  2. I beg to differ on that, cuz most stock Toyota seats aren't that comfortable, so after going in another Yaris which had seat covers of soft artificial leather like material with a spongy material inside, really got sick of the normal plain seats
  3. True, prepaid is but I don't want to keep switching the SIM all the time, these dongles are fragile things and break easily so want my postpaid to work properly at all times. But too many users in this area I think Ah yes, can go to speeds beyond advertised, even I have a 7.2 and it's slightly faster in the same location with the same network than the other 3.6 we have for home use, maybe due to better signal capturing? Average I get at night for the 1.8 conn is 200KB/s = 1.6Mbps but have hit a max of 370 or so, but true it's good value for money since I get charged only for the amount used too I use 10GB usually and it's 700Rs
  4. No idea about what time roads will be closed but I bet from morning onwards if qualifications are in the morning and the actual races at night. And yes, it's going to pass them both but I'm not sure in what direction, though from the looks of it can say it'd be in the usual way away from Dalada Veediya. You're not planning to be stuck in your office the whole day are you? Hope we can see some glowing brake disks and get some good pics of them. I'm in if you all are meeting up, someone name a place
  5. Yatinuwara Veediya isn't that narrow, it's got 3 lanes after all and can easily hit 140 at night on a normal car safely too. Only problem is the bend at the end of it near the muslim church, cuz beyond 80 it slides so we'd probably see some drifting or slow cornering there. But they've lined up the road with a few sandbags though I doubt it'd stop a car from crashing into SSCK, yet at the bend they've put a lot of bags like a bunker so maybe that'd be effective. Anyway, how are you planning to watch the entire thing and take pics?? The roads will be closed for public so can't go behind in cars or bikes, won't be able to drive in the city anyway. And obviously can't run everywhere.. I too am hoping to come, maybe a few AL members can meet up? Thanks! Saw they'd fitted extra large lamps like flood lights on lamp posts along those roads too, and sure about the ones in bold. PS - It'd be like NFS Underground though, a grid and a maze of straights
  6. Whenever we're about to have some fun, some idiot will come along and try to ruin it This is a damn boring place which is dead after 7pm, so we need more life to it, can't just call it historic and keep it in the dark ages! Same thing happened to the Kandy Offroad Adventure Club the other day, they were just exhibiting the 4X4s in front of the KCC when the police came and told them to move out AFAIK Edit - News just in, Yoshitha Rajapaksha has been spotted practicing the route a while back So guess the event is on after all, maybe along with a little intervention from above...
  7. Have a read through the deal Stiggy, it's a nicely planned scam, exit clauses are such that it requires only three months for them to exit the deal and we need to wait for one year to exit it. The value is $100 per barrel of crude oil. IIRC, it was +$30 for them and -$30 for us, but if the value stayed below $100, we were required to purchase 200000 barrels per month while if it was above, we were allowed to purchase only 100000 barrels. Read somewhere that the upside liability was strictly limited so the banks pay us to a certain extent if prices increase, but downside liability is unlimited so we've to pay them however much the prices go down, and when a barrel was $60, we had to pay $40 per barrel to the banks. So if there is such a price hike as VVTi has posted, we would either face severe shortage of petrol if buying only from the money of the deal, or if buying from outside, would need to spend the extra money from somewhere. So in any case, there'd be an increase if it goes beyond $100
  8. Dude, you're one of a kind, almost every post of you is so witty Sadly I've run out of positive quota for the day, so +1
  9. Aha, that's how you've hit such numbers, the prepaid speed is 3.6Mbps so considering mine goes upto 2Mbps, their limits aren't very accurate so 4 is quite possible. It all depends on the location you're in (signal strength) and the tower you're connected to and the APN (traffic in it) you're using. Have to check all these things before deciding on a wireless net conn. So in my area, there are too many prepaid/limited users but nearly no unlimited, so I get high speeds from mine. During day time the prepaid is nearly unusable in Dangolla/Peradeniya area, disconnects all the time. Now different story in Katugastota/Akurana area, it's other way around
  10. Oh yes, from Heerassagala onwards it's only in first or second right upto our house Twisty winding hilly roads, wouldn't that have been a bit dangerous, considering you were only learning and could easily run off an edge? Just can't imagine how your sister did that, always thought most females are scared to drive even in straight lines!

  12. More the grip, more friction has to be overcome to move the vehicle, so more energy wasted in that instead of using the same to move the car forward. Hence to move at the same speed, more power is necessary requiring the engine to burn more fuel, reducing the mileage.
  13. Well for us those little little hills feel very flat, so when travelling to Anuradhapura/Trinco it's like going on a carpet
  14. Actually many I know here prefer manual, you get better mileage too, but are stuck with auto's as they're what comes now
  15. The older the car, higher the possibility of components failing, and auto boxes of those times weren't as refined or developed as now IMO there's a higher chance of failing compared to a manual of the same era. Haven't heard of trying to repair an auto box, it's usually replace with another one, unless just some bands, so the age would not make it very easy to locate one incase there's complete failure. An auto car can be converted to a manual, but quite a bit of work has to be done including finding a suitable clutch and manual gearbox, getting rid of the torque converter, auto GB, changing location of mounts etc. ECU shouldn't be a problem in many cases as early 90s common cars weren't so advanced. Someone with experience in having done such a conversion should be able to give more info, we looked at the possibility once and gave up the idea cuz it was too much of a hassle, easier and cheaper to buy a manual car
  16. Use that green + button on the bottom right corner of a post bro, been working for sometime now
  17. It helps to be like Richard Hammond Especially for Jap vehicles
  18. Me too heard of a race around Kandy, saw it somewhere on the forum too IIRC
  19. Not trying to be a dealer, that's starting a whole new business after all. Just want to know about this brand new car only through agents thing, cuz they don't always offer the cars we want and also don't have some options offered elsewhere, so buying from another country with specs we want and importing isn't an option in SL? Also it'd be cheaper without agent fees etc. You mean vehicles which had odo's reset or just registered for the purpose of importing but never used right? And I've seen other countries having multiple dealers for one brand, isn't that allowed here? Never seen more than one dealer for one brand. And what brands don't have any dealers whatsoever in SL? How to provide valuations and import brand new cars of such brands?
  20. True, IF they ever train their staff, they'll bring hybrids in as Toyota seems to be totally into that path (strictly IMO making them even more boring now ). And you mean an original brand new battery? Any reason for such a large price difference?
  21. Postpaid Impatience, the connecting problem is there only during very busy times and present only here not back home at any time. So what I do is put it to download it at around 10-12pm and set it to shut down the comp after finishing and sleep. Wake up in the morn and you have everything done and off nicely, come back in the eve and enjoy
  22. You got to realize this isn't USA. If local agents say they can't and won't, better find another place that would do it with some responsibility, and afaik there isn't any such place yet. Besides, you're using manufacturer info and they want to sell as much as possible, so would like people to believe it's the best. Take a look at the article you posted. Means they expect you to throw it away, recycle and buy a new one after 8 years/160000km, but how many in SL do that? And do keep in mind we get used vehicles here, so cannot be sure of how they were used and maintained. With taxes and after everything, that amounts to around 430k LKR if something goes wrong Means it won't give the extraordinary mileages some people claim nor just drag you along in traffic with the engine off all the time. Don't think any emergency response service here knows how to handle these nor do we have all the facilities these cars are designed to be around with. Next thing we'll hear is a Prius being in an accident and a rescuer died from electric shock
  23. 508KB/s?? That's awesomely fast if you mean B, around 4Mbps right? Such speeds I've only seen in the limited 3.6Mbps connections. Anyway, I'm moved to around Katugastota and signals are a bit hard to come by, I've always got one bar max but even then speeds aren't too bad until 6pm-12am. After 12, it's fast as usual and time for torrents, 200+KB/s
  24. Please do shed some more light on this?
