Mazda Demio Or Honda Fit(Not Hybrid)?
LolithaB replied to Carfreak's question in Car Buying Information
I had a Fit GE6 non hybrid version with iVTEC and it was a CVT gear box and now i drive a Mazda Demio. I think with iVTEC, the idling fuel consumption is so low and that's why they are very economical in urbs. And the CVT gear box gives a lovely continuous steep acceleration without having to change gears and it's a thriller. Handling is superb and the responses are just perfect. I have once reached 180km/h along highway and the car was quite steady. And my best economical ride was 21.4 km/l in the average speed range of about 80 to 100 again along highway. The CVT gear box is quite smooth but it demands attention. The bad point is you get to change transmission oil in every 15000km's time. And when it reaches the limit you tend to feel the lag in the gear box and the drive is not so smooth. Its quite advisable to maintain the GB timely since the metal belt is said to be very sensitive. The oil change costs about 9000 at agents. The car is quite spacious but the front row leg space is a little restricted. And Demio im driving now is better than Fit at acceleration and cornering, but my overall feeling is that the Fit is way superior to Demio. -

LolithaB posted a question in Car Buying Information
Anybody familiar with the car? It must be very good on fuel but how is the durability of the car especially the 'multi-tronic' box? Any known bad points of the car? Mileage is about 80000. Imported brand new. -
Shaking Like Feeling While Idling - Mazda Demio 2004
LolithaB replied to LolithaB's question in Mechanical problems
Thanks for the reply. No i hardly hear a miss at the exhaust. And the emission rates are just perfect. Can't it be from engine mounts? I feel it when i pick up as well and it goes off at higher speeds. -
Shaking Like Feeling While Idling - Mazda Demio 2004
LolithaB posted a question in Mechanical problems
Hi guys, my car is 2004 Mazda Demio 1300cc VTI manual transmission. I've been experiencing a shaking like movement when the car engine is on and idling. It's not a vibration, but something happening cyclical very much like the feeling u get when u have a bump in a tire when u drive it. And the car really . The idling RPM doesn't fluctuate at all and it has no connection with the air conditioner also. Got the engine tuned up as well, but it is still the same. And when I pull steeply, i get the same feeling while the car is moving too. Value ur ideas as to what to do. Thanks -
Guys, My Honda Fit (gen 2) interior is very noisy mainly the upholstering. The car has got a super silent smooth engine but the ride is spoilt by these cracking noises. Any idea about a place to fix this headache? TIA

Guys, My factory fitted Xenon HID (super white) head lamp bulb is gone for more than a month and im still driving one side blinded and most of the traffic cops around are pissed off with me now but still i didnt come across with new a bulb. Any idea about a place to try the bulb? TIA
-
@ Scooter, Thanks for the piece of info. yes i have been to that site. As far as i know, his (Muthalif) brother also has got the same car so he must have got a good practical sense of it too. It is pretty sure now that my gear box is starving an oil change now. Thanx again. @Sylvi, thanx a lot.

Best Choise Of Cars For Budget Of 1.9 - 2 Million
LolithaB replied to Pasan Gunawardena's question in Car Buying Information
It all depends on your requirement. If you really need a sporty car just go for an EK3. When it comes to the 2nd hand market here, no doubt you need to go for a 110. FB 15 is also a good choice even though it is not very economical, but everybody knows to repair it plus parts are freely available. There are some issues related to Mazda and Mitsubishi in the local market but personally i like Mazda. If I were you, i would go for EK3. -
Thanx for info. Any idea about the recommended mileage?

Hi guys, Anybody got a good and budget place to exchange the existing original Japanese 14" alloys with a set of low profile sports wheels? TIA
-
Guys, what is said to be the best mileage to change gear box oil in a honda fit ge6 with a 5 forward cvt gearbox? The current mileage is 47000. Do we get any warning symptoms if it is delayed? TIA.

Hey HC, what if you have an english numbered Honda...?

and i went to several garages. Surprisingly they are clueless as to what to do????
-
I did try. It is the whole set of doors that make the noise..... will a painter be able to help? Or an interior cleaner???

Hi guyz, I've got a Honda Fit 2008. When i got it unregistered about 3 months back, it was all calm and quiet even on rough roads. Admitting to the fact that the upholstering of all 5 doors were taken off to circuit my new sound system, I'm experiencing so much of vibrating and tapping noises inside the car now even on carpeted roads though I run on a bit low tyre pressures. I took it to one of those cushioning centers but they couldn't trace the cause. Now it's been a headache to drive the "otherwise perfect" car . Can you guyz just tell me where to take her? TIA

It is mostly the simple theories that matter. What you need to get is the maximum outcome out of the force that is generated in the engine. Plus you need to prevent the losses too. Say if you drive along a busy road where the car stops and moves quite frequently, don't press too hard on throttle till you reach the front vehicle and brake at once. It wastes much more fuel as well as your brake pads. Plus it gains nothing for you since ultimately your average speed depends on that of the other vehicles moving ahead with you. So gently give an initial short acceleration and let the car reach the front vehicle with foot off throttle and brake gently. Once the road is fairly clearer, just take a bit rapid acceleration to get on to a good speed (at least above 40) and then leave a gentle pressure on throttle just to maintain the speed at your desired level. Accelerating slowly with revs under 2krpm is controversial since you waste everything on low gears for a long period of time. That is the secret behind my speedy Honda doing >13km/l along heaviest roads in Colombo during heaviest traffic hours of the day.

coming back to the original topic...???

Guyz, i've got a Nissan Lucino 1.5l (yom 1996). The engine is not as smooth as before. plus the steering is also a bit tight. I have replaced every basic stuff. Donno whatz happening. A chap said the prob iz with the ECU. Can it be so? Thanx in advance.

Quite true but is it still normal in case the engine revs up to about 1500 from 700rev/min once steered?
