  1. Hi, I would suggest to buy a Dihatsu Charade G101S.The one I had (1 litre 3 cylinder diesel non turbo)did 30 km/l(tested).Very easy to maintain.Engine holds only 3liters of oil.Oil filter was only Rs.350.I used that car for 12 long years.I was the 2nd owner. Now I own a turbo diesel. It does little less on fuel, but very powerful.I have raced even with Monteros.Finding a car in good shape nowadays is a problem but not impossible.Be patient. Kal
  2. I have seen a Maruti 800 following a major accident. That was actually a side impact. The car skidded during cornering at high speed and smashed on to a tree. Both the occupants suffered serious injuries, one even with a spinal.I saw the body of the car was torn from spot welded joints. Those welded joints simply have come apart. So I think these cars are no better than Trishaws.
  3. You have to fix a cage like bracket under the dashbord.I know a person in Divulapitiya. We call him NIRMANA.Go to Divulapitiya town and ask for him by the name Nirmana. He has a workshop there. There is also a good electrician called Ananda aiya in Divulapitiya. They are good people and they will solve all your problems. 4. Try from these used spare parts dealers.Compare prices and go for the cheapest. They are quite reasonable people and you can even bargain to a certain extent. Here are the telephone numbers. Japan lanka Kalubowila 0112764639,Silva motors Bothalegama 0312256582,Sisira Gangodawila 0112820396,Keerthi Balangoda 071442233,Sarath Balangoda 0771098416.Importing by yourself I think is not a wise idea.(You may not get the right stuff, may cost more) Kalashnikov.
  5. What will happen to the resale value of that "transplanted" car.In Srilanka such things matter. Kalashnikov.
  6. Your point 1. may be correct, but he got all the certificates from Japan to prove it otherwise. Then the Yaris I bought was built in Japan and imported from Japan.I have all the documents.True, bad driving habits play a role there. But in this case, my cousin is a careful driver. He hardly exeeds 60km/h.On the other hand he drove his car mostly on good roads, while I drove my car on poor roads. When I told this problem to a tech guy at Toyota, he said that the cars that they import to Srilanka are made to suit our road conditions. For example, he said that B/N Yaris has a 47% stiffer suspension system than the JDM,stronger plastics which could withstand very high temperatures etc,but our people do not care about such things, instead they ask for DVD's and winker mirrors.
  7. Dear friend, Thanks for the comment. Kalashnikov.
  8. I would suggest you to go for a brand new Yaris 1300.I and my cousin bought cars together.I bought a B/N Yaris. He went for a recon Belta with 5000km on the clock. Now both cars have done around 22000km.Except for the regular servicing I spent nothing for my car.He had to do two wheel alignments and a tire replacement.Yaris is made for Srilanka and Belta is not.
  9. I want to find a size 12 cam plate for my Charade G 101 turbo diesel pump.Is it possible to fit an ordinary pump for a turbo diesel engine?.I have an ordinary pump, but not sure whether I can use it with the turbo powerplant. Can any one help?
