  1. I know a person, who have done this.....
  2. I think he was driving the Allion.... not the BMW
  3. Of cause... you can't get it without paying 75k. I'm talking about reserving the number without the valid documents of the vehicle... When you are reserving the number you have to produce original documents and receipts that you get from the clearing agent. you don't have to pay 75k when you reserve the number. But you can reserve the number before the vehicle gets here by throwing some cash..
  4. Happy new year to all.....

  6. definitely this is not a Japanese part... Check for any damages at the CV joint.. If there is not... replace the boot with a new one... or replace the CV joint... when buying parts always go to the importer... but some importers has duplicates with them.
  7. Go for a HR-V.. And I can't remember any difference between pre 2000 and post 2000 models,
  8. To reserve a number you have to produce valid documents with a request for the reservation.... But I think you can do it with the help of few hundred bucks...
  9. And still running in good condition....
  10. Yes ripper I agree with you.. But my point is, do you afraid of rotary engines? I'm sure you are not... So, why are you afraid of hybrid engines??
  11. Try Semini Motors, Panchikawatta..
  12. Just because it is TOYOTA.
  13. Yes, Ripper is right... And I also dont think a fault hat failed the vehicle from the emission test won't be corrected by ECU resetting. (You haven't mentioned about a emission test fail...) An ECU always try to use a closed loop to control the fuel delivery. Unless the ECU running on safe mode or at several engine situations, such as cold start or full load conditions, the efficiency is maintained at highest level. performance vice it may have a effect.... And another thing... high performance means low economy..... resetting ECU and driving economically will reduce your fuel cost..... but I'm sure that will not be a large measurable figure....
  14. Yes... after all day promoting.... this is the time I log in to the web and do some Ninja tricks....
  15. I think these are the only poll you can trust in Sri Lanka.... cause you vote for what you really think..... Wattala....
  16. Getting back to the topic..... Will Hybrids Fail Or Succeed In Sri Lanka? Yes, they will succeed.... Just like all other technologies came here.... just see the poll..
  17. Yes... GDI engines has some problems... most common problem is broken or seized piston rings due to carbon contaminated oil. but according to my observations maintenance is the key factor.... use a good old mineral oil and change it every 3500kms. use 95octane fuel and keep the tank filled most of the time... ( actually this practice is good for every vehicle. it will reduce the water condensation in the fuel tank ) keep eye on the fuel filter and replace it when necessary... and run it regularly... These simple rules has kept meny GDIs in good condition.... About the 90octane fuel.... GDI engines are designed to run on 93 or higher octane fuel. So it is better to run on 95octane fuel... and I have no experience about the performances of the two models that you have stated...
  18. Those are not bought from my money....
  19. They are both women.... wankel rotary and hybrid are engines... wankel rotary didn't succeeded. but hybrid engines.... all are rushing in ( I mean manufacturers ) But i'm sure... when hydrogen vehicles hits our shore... we will reply to "Will Hydrogen Fail Or Succeed In Sri Lanka?" thread just like this.... And that's because we are Sri Lankans....
  20. I think we are talking about hybrids... not euro or proper cars... What I wrote on that post is something came to my mind when I read some posts.... My point is, if some one buy a euro car for 1m because he can offered only that and laughing at others cars made me feel very sorry about that guy....
  21. I said, not all euro car owners.... But most of them is like I described... And I was talking about new technology. At that point wankel rotary is unsuccessful..... Don't hate the word "HYBRID"..... This is just few additional parts that fixed in to a normal car.... It is just like a turbo charger fixed to a normal car. ( and please understand.... with the necessary modifications ) <----AND AGAIN A "Koheda yanne, malle pol" STORY
  22. When EFI first came here all made a big noise just like this. But at that time there was no web forums. Mainly "Bas" at the nearest garage made that hoax. And same thing to Automatic gear boxes. Think where are we now....? This is just a beginning..... More than ten years of presence means, hybrids are going to stay in this planet including Sri Lanka. Hybrids are succeeded than the Wankel Rotary engine... But, are we afraid to buy a Mazda RX8...? Every manufacturer is producing and expanding there hybrid production..... So.... this tree hugger thing could be a air borne viral decease. I must say one thing..... Meny people in Sri Lanka (NOT ALL) buy 15 year old BMW or Alfa just because they are cheap. NOT because of they are good cars. But after buying that they act like the first owner of that car, and laugh at Japanese cars. I think buying a Maruti 800 or a TATA Nano is more decent than that. Or buy a Micro.... So you can laugh at all other cars.... because you have a car made in Sri Lanka......
  23. Are these plates are geven to Blue permit vehicles..?
  24. I saw this first generation Honda hybrid that was manufactured in 2001 and bought here as recon. The car never had major repares and still running great. With good fuel economy and with a hybrid battery still holds charge and assist well. At the time I saw this car it has 180 000kms on the clock.
  25. This was tolled to me by late prof. D. M. M. Dasanayake. Actually this in not for all cars. There are vehicles that has been running 2.8 million miles. But without swapping anything in the car and only overhauling, the possibility of running more than 1 million km is very low.
