1. I think rather than commenting on good or bad, better to grab some opportunity to upgrade the car..I think people who were dreaming of Aqua can now settle down with Vitz and Passo ..And even Vezel lovers have got second chance to get them with a bit reduced price.
2. As I know, there are a lot of electronics in the Prius. If my memory is correct I think I can remember that he told me there are like 29 computers and ECU s in the car . If any one of those gets damaged due to water, troubleshooting process and replacing electronic parts can be very expensive as well. I don't remember which parts he replaced..But I'm sure he spent quite a lot on that. But this may not be the same case in your incident. better to have a check with the agents to be in safe side.
3. I know same incident happened few years back when it was raining very heavily to a Doctor I know. He had packed his Prius in Kurunegala Hospital parking and water came up to the same height as you mentioned. He started the car and drove back to home and his car got completely dead after that..Car even couldn't move as it cannot be neutral as Prius (His one was Second Gen) cannot be neutral while it's turned off. He had to tow the car to Toyota Lanka to reset.
4. Coz first, he was complaining that Audi will become a money pit after 5 years.. second he liked the Mazda 6 experience .Just simple as that..
5. You'll be better off with Mazda 6 than Audi.A4...
6. So you compare 7 seater SUV with a 5 seater Crossover?
7. Not a fair comparison. I have also driven Rexton, Kyron, Actyon, Korando and recently test drove a Tivoli as well...If you compare all these Ssangyong SUVs and Crossovers, Rexton is the best..But If you are comparing Rexton with Jap Suvs like Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado or Montero then you have no idea about what you are suggesting here..You can't even get Q5 into the comparison list. I'm not suggesting here that Korean vehicles are crap..In fact they make pretty good reliable vehicles, but not yet up to Jap or Euro standards...
8. If they have given in writing, I think there is nothing much to worry about.
9. Even though it looks that Prius is having very low ground clearance..Axio, Grace and Prius having almost same ground clearance. Do you only consider hybrids for your purpose? If so..Mazda Axela Hybrid also within your budget i think. If you are not that concerned about hitting 20 kmpl mark..better to go for a conventional petrol car like new Mazda 6, or Toyota Premio, or Allion as all of them within your budget. Think well before deciding, don't make a wrong decision in the end having a good budget in your hand. I personally don't like hybrids over conventional petrol cars even though i used them in the past due to long distance driving on daily basis. And one more interesting fact I came to know about Honda Grace..This was copied from a review site "As stated in the company Honda, for the passengers back row space exactly the same as in the model Honda Accord Hybrid. This was achieved due to the length of the wheelbase and well-calculated arrangement". In fact i didn't feel any difference because I was driving the car and never had a chance to go in the back seat.
10. Because they think that the wagon looks like a hearse...
11. Welcome to Auto Lanka forum and my congratulations on your graduation. As I was also facing quite similar circumstances as you..my advice is go for the second option...Buy a decent manual gear car for a low price and learn well how to drive. You could even consider selling off your car to antique car enthusiast (If your father agrees to sell it)..which will cover a part of your new car cost.
12. As i got to know from a petrol shed guy, They get only 92 octane from Ceypetco and to convert it to 95 octane they put a naphthalene (Not sure he said "Kapuru" ) baton stick like thing into the 92 octane tank which makes 92 octane into 95 Octane... ...I was always thinking petrol shed guys getting two different types of Octane from Ceypecto or IOC itself...
13. If it's hybrid it should say it's "petrol/ele"..I had a problem back in 2011 when I first registered a hybrid..In my registration certificate it was mentioned as petrol only..So when I wanted to get revenue license, they asked me to get emission testing certificate...when i went there, even emission testing guys had no clue whatsoever how to do it...They asked me to start the car..in fact it was in EV mode...They asked me to accelerate and nothing indicated...Finally i got a zero emission certificate and got my revenue license..Later I corrected the issue from RMV...Is this the problem you have?
14. If you have only these two cars in your mind..it's just simple..buy Mark 2 and stay away from Cefero..
15. If considered the list you have mentioned, I would pick Prius over other two..I have driven all three cars extensively.Below are my observations by personal experience. Mind you, this is what i felt personally and this may differ for the other individuals. Toyota Axio 2015 (New face) - My brother owns one and I have driven a long trip to Katharagama- Fairly comfortable with decent handling and pulling power. Space inside the cabin is good for a mid size sedan. Honda Grace 2015- My best friend is having it and had a log ride up to Pasikudha- Not much of a difference in terms of comfort compared to Axio. Felt better handling and driving pressure than Axio. Good pulling power. Inside cabin space is bit smaller as I felt compared to Axio..Felt like I'm sitting inside Honda Fit GP5. Toyota Prius 3rd Gen-2013- I owned and used for more than one year...Better comfort compared to above two (But not the best)...Better pulling power as 1800 cc..More spacier that above two..good luggage space..decent handling but to be honest Grace is having a better handling. Overall other than the handling..Prius is having better fuel economy, comfort, value and good resale value as well..Your extended budget means you maybe trying for a 2016 new Prius which I don't have any idea.
16. Nothing wrong with Mazda Butterfly..it's a decent car.. But i bet, you won't be able to get 12kmpl in city driving even with less traffic. In fact even fuel efficient 121 s hardly touching that figure. You will definitely get this with Maruties and Altos for sure.
17. Yes crosswind you are right..There was a guy who got a lease from Commercial Credit for a Jaguar which was manufactured in 1979..According to him interest rate was 24%. I'm not quite sure why they are giving leases for high risk vehicles which finally lead their fitch rating to go down.
18. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Crosswind" data-cid="291170" data-time="1460630907">

Bullsh*t. There are plenty of daily running Minis in this country.

Yes there are plenty of minis running round.i just said my own opinion.that's why i clearly mentioned "FOR ME"
19. Happy new year to you as well. What's your real purpose of buying a car? Just for fun drive alone? Then mini cooper is perfect for you..It's a fun little car but yet for me it doesn't seem to be a practical car to use for day today works. It always reminds me Mr.Been
20. Then it must have been a auto gear one. Manual should be cheaper.
21. You can get a lease for your existing car and get some cash for your requirement. Why you want to downgrade? I don't see any logic in buying a under powered car since you are in a need of some money.
22. That's why i replied to your previous thread to follow your instinct and go for eg8...keeping eg8 back of your mind and seeking advice will make you more fed up. Do a good market search and get down a well maintained eg8, lancer CK1, CK2, Mazda Famila Butterfly model.. all within your budget. If you want to feel more fed up of drive comfort, handling, and other options go for an Indian car..indeed you will get a good fuel consumption.
23. What's your maximum budget? How about Mazda Familia butterfly model? you could easily find 1996-1997 models for 1.1 million to 1.2 million. It's a nice car and has a pretty good handling and fun to drive as well. Toyotas are far too expensive when considering the year of manufacture.
24. Welcome to the forum.... Follow your instincts and go for a Honda...Yes comparably spare parts prices are higher for Hondas and eg8 is pretty old car that you will have problems of finding a well maintained car considering it's age...It's quite normal that you will be hesitated to buy a car when you buy it for the first time. But If you are really having eg8 in your mind, go for it...If you ask another 100 people , 98% of them will advise you to go for a Toyota..Generally all of the Japanese brands like Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan produce good reliable cars..Most important mission for you is to find out a well maintained eg8, not to consider whether Honda is good or bad.
