Definitely yes. When ever a new model is released by these market leaders, people used to grab without any hesitation since they have been always coming out with the best design and latest features. However the X1 turned out to be a disaster and none of the people who bought it are satisfied. There are so many out for sale and hardly getting sold out. I agree with you on this. The Prius was built to capture the market in Europe and USA. They knew they will succeed since it was environmental friendly, comfortable and Fuel economy. Since it was built on hybrid technology which was new to everybody, they had to make sure its highly reliable. If people got stuck on roads in europe and USA that would have been the end of Prius. Due to this fact they made all components in very high quality compared to their other toyota models. They used this similar concept when they introduced Auto gear boxes. Since most of them didnt know how to repair them, they made all components highly reliable. Prius Generation 2 is one of the most reliable vehicle. There are prius's used for taxi services in USA and Japan with more than 400,000 to 500,000 kms with very little maintenance and original battery. Euro cars exist yet in Sri Lanka since there are few people who likes the name. There is no prestige nor comfort in euro cars compared to Prius. I have a friend who sold a BMW 320D and bought a JAG X type few years ago for 4.5Mil. Now he is finding difficult to get 3.5 Mil for his JAG to buy a Prius. What a pitty thing. He has been traveling to Hambantota regularly in his former BMW and JAG with lot of aches and pains when he returns. He has recently gone with a friend in a Prius and he says he never felt the journey since it was very silent, Comfortable and Noise proof. He was not bothered on petrol since it comes from Company. But he says it was less than 1/4th he spend for his Euros. He says time to come all euro car owners will save some money, sell their cheap euros and buy a Prius.

When this was complained initially, CPC and Minister confirmed that nothing wrong with petrol and it was due to some rain water getting into few tanks in sheds. If so the govt should now take the responsibility for confirming that petrol is ok and for issuing petrol without quality checks. As compensation I suggest they issue fuel free of charge for 1 week. I feel sorry most of the guys here who are clueless on Hybrids. Prius is one of the best in performance compared to other hybrids. Not even BMW, Mercedes or Porsche Hybrids can overtake performance of Prius. Oneday most of the european manufacturers will match the performance of prius by way of silence, smoothness, comfort and reliability. Some of them even does not know that Prius 1800 CC is full power for wheels and A/C etc is powered through hybrid battery. European cars like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes will be able to achieve this if they go with their A/C knocked off like in europe. Thats why they go for Big engines that drink fuel. I am sure when our european car owners growup and become more brave, they will buy a prius and enjoy the ride. Thats what has happend in US and UK.

Last week ##### carried an AD for smart keys. They says they do the programming as well. A laser key can be cut at Mr.Mint at MC, But you cannot start with that key but only open the door. You need to get it programmed by Toyota Lanka.
