  1. Hi all, I'm not sure if any of you guys saw the ad on last sunday's H***d on page 121. It's an ad by a very popular car A/V specialist. He has actually advertised the fact that they undertake odometer mileage adjustment. It says I quote "convert your vehicle to low mileage". Is this even legal? I know this happens a lot but his cheek to advertise this on a popular news paper seems unacceptable.
  2. No you can't buy it on a permit. You can only buy it without VAT if you're going for a lease but that's only cos you'll be charged VAT on the lease installments.
  3. The 200 had a 4.7 but the 202 has 4.6. Has more power than the 4.7 cos of dual VVTi

I think that's a seperate 250ml bottle. I too haven't seen litre bottles of arrack anywhere.
  5. Come on bro.. 95 for a Viva? You know you're just busting your hard earned money right? People pump 90 in their mercs and BMs and what not man. I personally know a guy who's been pumping 90 for his C180 Blueefficiency and done over 20,000 k.m still running smooth and no loss in power either. On another note, is it just me or anyone else think it's just a little absurd that Un**o would bring a car down for the mass market at a competitive price and advice them to pump 95 to run them? just plain crazy.

Used the E01 today so I asked a cop stationed at the entry point about this speed limit confusion. According to him, anything including 120 km/h and above will be dealt with. According to him they tolerate anything upto 119 km/h. It's an unwritten rule they're enforcing so that all the motorist on the E01 won't be caught speeding. Also according to him, deducing the speed via the entry and exit times is total BS. Only what is caught on the radar guns apply. Guys, please note that this is all according to this cop. Please do not adopt the 'shoot the messenger' policy if you guys are busted for doing 119 km/h or doing the trip in 35 mins

The speed limit has been increased to 120 km/h. I checked at the entry point. Anyone who is entering the road can double check at the booth and they will confirm.

I think turning left after the friendship road to Thalawathugoda and then heading to Kottawa from there is easier. Less traffic as well. They have already started the widening so should be better very soon.
  9. What about the effect on the timing belt? What I thought was that though we measure as to when the timing belt is to be changed according to the mileage it's a matter of guidance as the direct relationship is with regard to the length for which the engine has run. Therefore when a vehicle has idled for far too long it would mean that the mileage reading and the actual engine running time would be very different. As a few members have mentioned there may also be engine cooling issues if it were to be done on a regular basis. I guess one off incident will not affect the car but doing this often might seriously put your vehicle at risk.
  10. Dude you're getting excited about last years budget reading. You ain't getting cheap rides this time around bro...

    Budget

The depreciation of the rupee will result in a minor increase in prices i guess.
  12. It's actually a 23i with the 2.5 straight 6 in the 523i.
  13. Ah well. The jester has returned. Ha Ha Ha.. I missed you darling.....
  14. No body really buys a fully duty paid diesel anymore. Therefore it works out to about the same price as a new petrol. BMWs of old may have had some issues but my E60 520d just passed 50,000 k.m still runs like a dream and no engine/drive train related repairs to date.
  15. Are you saying that other diesel engines don't is it? Dude BMW make the best diesel engines in the world and sound better than audi and merc motors and have a more linear petrol like power delivery to boot. I'm not saying they sound as sweet as petrol units but hell, a little harshness (barely audible once inside) is worth the huge savings at the pumps.
  16. If i'm not mistaken you get 5W-40 or 50 only in fully synthetic guise. It's also better for cold weather running. Isn't that a bit too much for a fb13? My suggestion would be 15W-40. It's the most common viscosity band available here.
  17. Even if they offer it for the permit, provided Prestige Launch it Feb/March and taking the long waiting times for these vehicles you are looking at a August/September delivery at the earliest. Given the way this country suddenly change their policies overnight on these matters and anything else for that matter to be honest, you are taking one hell of a risk. My advise is go for your favorite option available right now.
  18. I think the latter dude. It has to be.
  19. W201 190E or a hacked W202 C180
  20. some sources say diesel is up by 8. Well i guess I'll find out later on at the pumps.
  21. It's just another brand of oil dude. No big deal. There's no law written or un written saying that you can't use it in any other motor other than Toyotas. In fact it's probably the only 10W-30 oil available freely. Hence Stafford or any other agent should not have a problem with it.
  22. Use Toyota motor oil 10W-30. Best suited for engines done under 100,000 k.m. Change your oil and filter every 5000 k.m.
  23. deliveries start next Feb. Probably after that.
  24. Look around you ma man. It happens around us everyday. Basically it's cheaper cos the vehicles aren't tranferable till 3 years are up. So who ever buys the ride won't get it under his name. It's called running on open papers. Illeagal but happens.
  25. If this is the case then anyone can buy a permit vehicle for around 5-6 mil (which isn't transferable) insure it for 10 mil. Then total it and get the insurance payment for the full market value i.e 10 mil. Buy a good vehicle for 10 mil which is transferable and sell it. Make a handsome profit off it as well. These insurance guys will fool people into insuring the permit vehicle for the market value. But trust me buddy when it comes to paying up you can be rest assured that they'll be showing you some escuse in fine print and you won't be getting the market value. Just wishfull thinking buddy.
