Hello All, I drive a Suzuki Liana and the rubber beading on the weather strip at the bottom of all four windows are in a bad shape (it allows water to leak in). I tried replacing the rubber beading which sits close to the window glass but the guy who did the job made a mess of it (he applied too much quick fix and the outer plastic strip sort of melted & looks awful now). Now the only option is to replace it and will have to get genuine ones (I searched for it at panchi but cannot get the Liana weather strip, there are few which are sort of compatable and the length is an issue and it does not look great if you cut them at the ends cannot be sealed). A*W says it will cost close to 16,500 LKR. Anyone knows if I can get recon / used ones cheaper as 16,500 is a lot of money for weather strips. Thanks

http://time.com/3007811/china-women-parking-sexism/ Plus-Size Parking Spaces in China Spark Accusations of Sexism Mall managers said women had trouble with navigating standard width spotsExtra-wide parking spaces outside a mall in China designed for women have sparked a debate on social media in the country over allegations of sexism. The mall, located in the northern Chinese port city of Dalian, has 10 spaces with an extra 30 centimeters marked in pink outside the main entrance that were provided after women had trouble parking in the standard basement slots, managers said. “We just wanted to make things easier for women, who make up most of our customers,” said manager Yang Hongjun, a woman herself. China’s official line is that of gender equality—Mao Tse-tung said that “women hold up half the sky”—but in reality, sexism persists in the country. Beijing police said in a microblog last year that women drivers “lack a sense of direction” and often “hesitate and are indecisive about which road they should take,” Agence France-Presse reports. Driving for both men and women is a perilous endeavor in China, where in 2012, 60,000 people died on the roads.

Gayan, I was not putting Suzuki down. When I made the the purchase the suzuki was almost LKR 800,000 cheaper than a similar spec toyota. I did spent 50-60% extra on the parts over the time (running repairs - this is my first car and i was daft - it will be a different story for fellow petrol heads here). But still when I do the math it works out much cheaper than blocking another 800,000 on a overpriced car over 3 years. -

I drive a Liana and parts are very difficult to find. Last month i was trying to buy packing - spent half a day visiting shops in panchikawatha and had to eventually give up (paid some 1800 to 3 wheel guy - they had swift, aero, k10, cruze but no liana). I finally got it repaired after taking it to a different garage, the guy sourced it and charged 3,450 for the packing and o ring (i am sure he inflated the cost) - also sourced ac compressor, ignition coils etc. If you live in Colombo I can PM you the contact details of the place I got the job done. For me paying the bit extra is ok instead of putting up with the griding noise when I drive (and it also runs at the back of my mind). -
http://themetapicture.com/photographing-a-town-that-never-was/ Artist and photographer Michael Paul Smith has spent hours upon hours photographing one special town that he holds very dear to his heart. There is something that always drew him to it, and the images he created are simple, but stunning. They glow with small-town charm and innocence, reminiscent of days and decades past. The town he photographs is quaint and beautiful.
