  1. Thats not Sanjeewa. One who is at Anderson road is Chaminda. He specializes in W202 and after. Sanjeewa is in Nugegoda. Thalawathugoda Ranjith juggles with cars. Yeah, be very careful doing business with him.
  2. there's a good technician in anderson road in kohuwala. he fixes all types of european cars. perhaps he could be of any help to you if the problem is not resolved yet.
  3. Thank you for the reply sylvi. Indeed it is very hard to find a competent automotive electrician. I have been searching one for the past 7 months without success. The good electricians prefer to work alone. Most who dont have experience are definitely going to learn by burning things that belong to the customer or the owner of the workshop. Someone with middle east experience would be nice. I found one in his 50's who used to work in Audi company in Bahrain but he didnt continue too long as he was attending religious duties. Advertising on hit-ad would be the last choice because I would have no idea of who I'm going to hire. So I prefer if somebody recommend an electrician to me, hence I wouldnt have to worry about supervising him every 5 minutes. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again for your reply.
  4. Hello everyone, Not quite sure if this is appropriate place to post this kind of stuff, if its not, moderator may delete it. Anyway. I'm running a small workshop and still trying to build on a good, skilled, honest, employee base. I'm searching for an automotive electrician who is familiar with the modern electronic functions of vehicles and its service. It doesnt matter if he is still in the learning phase. I would prefer someone with a background from German-tech, AETI or City & Guilds. He can either be employed full time or work on contract basis with us. It is negotiable. Please recommend me anyone with a good workmanship. Thank you in advance.
  5. Thanks everyone for the replies once again. I went to Abans yesterday and the cheapest bulb available with them was Rs. 2650. They have down lights priced at Rs. 10650. 50W (CFL equivalent is about 200W) flash light cost Rs. 20,000. Wayyy off my budget. so much for LED bulbs. on stigs recommendation, i will take a look at a few shops in pettah to see if they have anything cheaper in store for me. i have given up on search for LED's for the car as they can not get as brighter than a HID kit.
  6. you can probably get your injection pump or turbo serviced (oil seals maybe leaking oil). when the turbo burns oil, black smoke is evident. i've seen this happening on many pajero intercoolers, 65- prados etc .
  7. Thank you everyone for replying in quick time. Even the long life time and electricity savings cant justify the price of 8500. I'm particularly interested in LED to light up my work place with a tall ceiling. LED's with cone shaped reflectors could fulfill my requirements. LED flash light is my main requirement. I'm also interested in LED's for my vehicle. parking/head lights. not sure if that is possible though. Thank you sylvi and komisiripala for recommending places. I will go and check them out and hopefully I can find some at a reasonable price.
  8. Hello friends, Anybody know of any good place to buy LED bulbs? Some places are quoting as much as Rs. 8500 for a single LED bulb and I'm not sure if that is an ok price for a LED? Any help will be much appreciated.
  9. These type of issues can not be diagnosed with a scanner. I think you should change your mechanic to someone who is more familiar with the practical aspects of trouble shooting Honda's.
  10. Macro is not good as they used to be. They have messed up a W124 and MB140, dont know about their quality of service to W123's.
  11. Dayarathna is still alive. Dont try to put to rest people who are still running strong . I know a lot of people who still take their W123's to get serviced by them. Its not like they would care less for older models.
  12. Looks like the discs in the gear box are worn out. it is common problem in automatic gear boxes. it can be repaired. one thing to keep in mind while waiting in traffic is to never be on drive and apply brakes. always make sure you stay idle on neutral and you could avoid this fault from happening.
  13. Hello guys, I did some searching on the forum regarding this topic but was unable to find pin pointed discussions on how to maintain a car with a common rail diesel engine. I have spoken to a few people on this and from what i have gathered so far, it is advisable to let the engine idle for atleast for 1 min once you start up the engine in the morning to get the oil flow circulated around the pump for lubrication. i have been informed that oil seals are prone to get worn out due to high operating temperatures and various other reasons. And also since my car does not have a turbo timer, it is advisable to leave the engine idling again for like 30 secs before shutting off the engine. I'd like to know the reason behind this if an expert could guide me through. I put super diesel on my car and that is another MUST for a car with common rail engine, besides the manufacturers have recommended the user to feed it higher octane anyway. However, I'd like to hear some opinions from the experts and have a good discussion on this. Thanks in advance.
  14. red Ferrari Mondial is owned by one of the biggest Japanese spare parts wholesaler in the country and he lives in Rosmead place. at the time it was brought to SL, it was not in running condition and it was sitting in the garage for years. i guess he either got it fixed finally or sold it to somebody who was keen enough to get it fixed.
  15. W220 S320 CDI . The comfort is top class. People may complain about its unreliability because there are just too many electronic functions and airmatic suspension, but if treated right and pampered well, this baby is unmatchable.
  16. 1. fuel consumption is about 9-11 in city. and about 12-13 outside city. depends on how old the engine is 2. the E220 i drive is ok in acceleration. would have preferred it to be a CDI though. so E250 wouldnt be that bad. not sure of timings. 3. most certainly it will be quicker than W124 E300 4. AFAIK E250 engine never had a turbo planted on it.

  18. if you are going for a W123, make sure you go for a 240D engine. and also its great if you could buy a manual transmission rather than an automatic. my uncle has a W123 240D with an automatic transmission and it sucks to drive it. takes like forever to reach 60kmph. like watchman says, W123's are very low on power on the 1st and 2nd gear but as you move up the gear, it gets better. there are 300D engines as well but probably most of them are converted. 31 sri, 32 sri W123's are generally original diesel while 64- could be converted as far as i know. incredibly reliable car. cheap parts. check avinda enterprises for parts.
  19. E200 petrol cars always came with a supercharged engine. so you'd find a kompressor badge at the back. AFAIK E200 kompressors go in the same range as that of E240. depends on the number of options too.
  20. ofcourse, its a W211 dude. you can buy a H number 2002/2003 manufactured W211 E240 for around 6.5-7.5 mil. anything above that price is too much!! my friend sold his WPGW W211 E240 for 6.8 million. never go for the seller's price. the market has come down on these cars. i'm looking for a W211 E220 CDI these days. everybody quoting above 11 million. once again too much because one of my friends bought a fully loaded CDI WPKK number car for 9.5 million.
  21. i have a windscreen chip repairing device that i got from Germany. but i havent used it on any car yet. it came with a self help video which guides you through the repair process. let me know if you are interested.
  22. hi all, sorry to reawaken this thread. but i need to consult your experiences and advises again. the axio is still with me, convinced that i cant sell it with a lease. but here's the new deal. i've contacted a car sale guy who agreed for an asset change on the lease. which means he will be buying the axio off me, while the lease which was originally scheduled to the axio would be rescheduled to the car that i'm looking at right now. its a mercedes benz W210 .so the difference would be 1.2 mil which i will have to obtain another loan for from another bank. the existing lease would be paid for like it was set up initially. just that the W210 would replace my axio. he says that it is possible in any bank. but few months ago i contacted com bank about an asset change, and they refused. what do you guys think? is this possible? is there anyone who has gone through an asset change with com bank? i mean, they just have to agree to this right? although people obtain 5 year leases, what if they get fed up of the car after sometime? what if the car encounters a really bad mechanical issue that makes the owner not want it anymore? there has gotta be a way around it, right? i would really really appreciate your replies guys. thanks in advance.
  23. you mean the fat dude with a shaven head right? that quite looked a bouncer?
  24. there's a CLS 350 , black, i see it often. borella, colombo 5 area. KA-7272
  25. mer as far as i know, all kompressors are supercharged. I personally do not know any Mercedes petrol engine manufactured with a turbo on it. but there have been turbos on E300 turbodiesel and E250 turbodiesel. the brand new Mercedes W204 (C class) and W212 (E Class) come with CGI engines (common rail gasoline direct injection) . some people are known to stick the kompressor badge to mislead. but yeah, it is not unusual for a 2000CC Mercedes petrol engine to have a supercharger on it.
