  1. Yes we can guess both ways. - Trying to save importers because reducing tax will devalue already imported vehicles. or - Trying to avoid mess which happened when tax increased in January and had to release vehicles already shipped in old tax rates. What I feel it's second reason. Only Sumanadasa can tell for sure.

  3. This is probably because they do not want vehicles to enter from biyagama and exit from kothalawala as it's just about a 1km and they cannot charge toll for such small distance. However then OCH will not help easing traffic in kaduwela junction as everyone still need to pass kaduwela junction when going to battaramulla direction. If there was a 4 way exit in kothalawala, vehicles can completely bypass kaduwela when travelling from biyagama.
  4. According to google maps, seems when coming from Kadawatha side it's not possible to exit in kothalawala. Is this correct?
  5. I have tried this in prius. It will just ignore P button when you are moving.
  6. Anyway probably you will need to do a separate wiring for these horns as they draw lots of amps which stock wiring will not be able to handle. You will need to get a 12V line directly from battery and connect to horn through a relay and use stock horn cable as trigger for relay. Don't forget to add a 15-20A fuse to direct line.
  7. What I heard from A*W service guys when servicing my Alto is, "no need to put coolant when topping up and just distilled water is good enough". Unless leaking, coolant loss happens due to vaporizing and mostly only water in coolant get vaporize. Ethylene glycol is the chemical in most coolant and boiling point is 197C, so does not get vaporize much in engine running temperature.

There is a compatibility issue in US FM tuners even they are full range. In US ,radio station only uses odd decimal frequencies for transmission ( 88.5, 88.7 ) so most digital tuners manufactured for US do not tunes to even decimal frequencies ( start from 87.5Mhz and make 0.2 jumps from there). So even you have full range tuner, u'll not be able to tune to almost half of stations in SL.

  10. If you paid Rs250,000 PAYE tax annually for last 5 years, you are eligible for a permit. To pay 250,000 PAYE tax annually, you have to have a 240k+ monthly salary
  11. In my case, there is no ownership transfer. I'm the first owner and I just changed my residence from kurunegala to nugegoda. I'm just looking for a way to avoid going back to kurunegala to pay revenue licence fee. I have looked many threads, but non of them discussed of changing divisional council without changing ownership.
  12. Hi all, My car was registered under divisional council of Kurunegala (NW) and last year my family moved to Nugegoda. Does any one know the procedure of changing divisional council which revenue licence need to pay. Cheers
  13. I have seen this car under development couple of weeks back. It's powered by 2x 450hp 3 phase, permanent magnet motors. Each motor powers a rear wheel independently. There is no diff. Just 2 x single speed reduction gear set. So differential behavior need to simulate using software by controlling power separately to each motor. Car internal frame is made by welded pipes and I have no idea how welded pipes going to survive with 900hp output and super speed
  14. I have upgraded my alto tyers to Dunlop 165/70R12 and it's way better than too small stock tube tyers. BTW if you steel tims are rusted, you may need to upgrade to alloy wheels to install tubeless tyers.
  15. According to [1], price of Alto Lxi is 300133 INR without taxes > 639504.4 LKR ( 1 INR = 2.13 LKR ) tax = 639504.4*179% = 1144712 total = 1784217 LKR if tax = 202% ( early tax ) becomes 1291798.88 and total price = 1291798.88+639504.4 = 1931303.28 which is close to previous price I can remember that my dad bought a alto in 2008 for 14.90 when tax was around 120% For me, these advertised prices are not matching with current taxes. 16. Does this VAT change has any effect on personal imports? I heard that when do personal imports, we do not need to pay VAT [1] ( not sure about the correctness ) and if VAT is absorbed into excise duty, that will not possible. [1] http://www.autoeshop.com/private_imports.html
