  1. hi all, can anyone clarify?
  2. Hi All, I have a question regarding the rule that after transferring a vehicle you have to register with 14 days and if you failed to do so you will be fined 100 rupees per day. This fine has a limit right.? As per Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act, No. 8 of 2009 Section 11;(which is latest i guess) (3) a: A registered owner who fails to inform the Commissioner-General of the change of possession within fourteen days shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than three thousand rupees and not exceeding six thousand rupees. b: The new owner of a motor vehicle who fails to apply within fourteen days after change of possession to be registered as the new owner shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than one hundred rupees for each day after the fourteenth day up to the forty fourth day of such failure. c: The new owner of a motor vehicle who fails to apply within forty four days after change of possession to be registered as the new owner shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than five thousand rupees and not exceeding ten thousand rupees. If a new owner doesn't transfer the vehicle within 2 years, his maximum fine will be Rs. 10,000 right?

  5. Hi all, What would be the cost of replacing air bags of a 2002 Nissan March BK-12 which has 6 air bags(2 curtains, 2 front side and front driver & passenger) . I just want to know for insurance purpose if i had to replace all if i meet an accident. Also want to know the best place to buy in case.. i thought only Agents has this(A*W)
  6. caltex texamatic is 2950 and BP Autran as posted by Don earlier is 3200. Mobil 1 litre is 1100 which i think is very expensive
  7. Hi all, if you know any other less expensive Multi purpose auto gear oil (full synthetic) brands which confirms to latest standards (eg: dexron vi , Nissan matic-J/S )please mention the brand and place to buy with the price... this will be helpful for all to buy affordable quality products
  8. Do i have to clean the transmission oil filter for a complete clean up of the system.? Some say that when you remove the pan there is a filter there to remove the contaminants. pls advise.
  9. hi car madness , thanks for the reply. actually I did the flush method through exchange machine at laughfs car care. But still some people generally suggest to do a manual change by removing the pan and to clean the filter which might contain contaminants / dirt which I didn't do. I want to know whether there is a transmission filter. but flush method removes almost all of old oil whereas manual will leave abt 1.5 ltrs of old oil. I used havoline atf-j which is compatible with nissan matic-j recommended for March K12.
  10. are there anyone to help?
  11. Agree with you DON. Always read the recommended type on the ATF dipstick. You do not have to always use car manufacturer branded oil coz as a matter of fact we know that they don't blend oil. Use a good brand of equivalent oil for the ATF. I have no relationship with Chevron. However, for my Nissan March ATF, compared to Nissan Matic J recommended, Havoline ATF-J was nearly half the price. havoline ATF-J which is sold in Sri lanka is produced in Thailand and exported to even Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia (as per the label on back) it's compatible in following specifications. I don't think i have to remind that Chevron (which owns Havoline brand) is the 3rd largest company in USA. Also Chevron is one of the six supermajor Oil companies. We can expect a equivalent or better product from them. No promotion for Chevron here , but i get better value for money with quality product. Havoline ATF- J Applications: just FYI Automatic transmissions in the following Japanese passenger cars and light trucks: Toyota (including Lexus) Isuzu Nissan Subaru Mitsubishi Suzuki Honda Daihatsu Mazda • Korean passenger cars: Hyundai Kia GM Daewoo • Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) where fitted to passenger cars of engine capacity less than 2.0L • 5-speed automatic transmissions in most European passenger cars (BMW, MercedesBenz, VW/Audi, Jaguar) • Suitable for service fill in automatic transmissions requiring DEXRON®-III, MERCON(®)or MERCON® V fluids. Performance standards JASO M315 Type 1-A Suitable for use where the following fluid specifications are recommended: • Toyota T IV • Nissan Matic J • Mitsubishi Diamond SP III • Honda ATF-Z1
  12. Hi Clark. thanks for the opinion. By the way I use BK12 1.4L version not the AK12. I also had great strides with popular cars with my friends. Especially i love the way of handling E36s and IS200s. Anyway compared to them especially the price what i like about March is the way of handling EPS and maintenance cost of rough use. Anyway I guess you purchased this the year it was introduced 2002. I know colombo traffic sucks . but anyway ha ha u dont have to do hypermiling to get that...I just shared this for people who might be helpful...
  13. Hi, i recently changed my Nissan March K12 automatic gear oil using the flush method using an ATF exchange machine at laughfs car care centre. But they didn't remove the pan and clean any filter. I want to know whether K12 got a transmission oil filter? Is it compulsory to clean.? Also I haven't seen any instruction to clean any transmission oil filter in service manual.
  14. use 3M fuel system cleaner. you will get better mileage
  15. Its safe to go to Havoline ATF-J Rs 1365 per liter
  16. I also didn't believe when told by the guy who sold this. ( i heard only 12km per Liter or so). But actually it does. I usually travel from Ja ela- Negombo route. Mild traffic. I usually run the car to lowest level of fuel tank until low fuel light turns on. Then pump for Rs 4500. that is 30.2 liters. I run about 405 kilometers. I check this every time i pump fuel. Also every 5,000kms use 3M fuel system cleaner. That will improve performance/response and fuel efficiency.
  17. Hi Just wanted to share with you my Nissan BK 12 (2002) experience of 1 year and some service information and what i used for service. Purchased last year July for rs. 1.7 million with 58,000 km on it. Seems good deal i guess. Initially i purchased this with intention to migrate to a better vehicle within 1 or 2 years coz i actually didn't had any experience with Nissan March. (I had only driven, Carina, Allion, Axela and Corolla) After purchasing it i really amazed especially regarding the the reliability, ease of handling and better fuel efficiency (13.5L on avg.) I have driven 20,000 kms so far. Some maintenance info might be helpful to you: Engine Oil: every 5000kms - Havoline 15w-40 with deposit shield(Mineral)-Rs. 2950-No issue so far. VIC Oil filer - Rs 950 -every 5000 kms I strongly suggest to go for 15w-40 or better oil(10-40, 5w-40) due to climate conditions of Sri lanka. Prices of other brands i found out just FYI (4 liter cans-Mineral oil). As at July 10th around Ja Ela area Castrol GTX- Rs. 3200: 10w-30 and 20w-50, Mobil Rs. 3400 15w-40 Valvoline Rs. 2500 20w-50 Laughfs Rs. 2450 20w-50 Automatic Transmission Oil Recommended Nissan Matic J - Use ONLY Matic J compatible fluid. I used Havoline ATF-J -- do not use Dexron III only compatible fluid . I changed through ATF exchange machine at Laughfs centre ( did not remove the oil pan. ( i had a question whether there is a filter in Automatic transmission to be cleaned at ATF change for March K12. Please update if anyone knows about this) Please share your thoughts about March K12 too.
  18. I found following articles related to above from below links: 1) http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handling/handling_weightxfr http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/t_rollcenter.htm 2) http://www.icrewchief.com/CrewChief101/02_Aerodynamics_and_Ride_Heights.htm 3) Weight transfer formula http://www.hipermath.com/cars/front_tire_diameter

  20. I have a doubt as car's rear end is a little bit higher than the front which is against the original engineering of the car. This will lead to weight shift to the front with the car tilted to front. As the weight shift to front, won't this add extra weight and stress to frontal area(parts)? Will this affect the "center of gravity" of the car? Pls correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not an engineering guru. Just trying to apply my understanding here.
  21. Hi All, I have a March k-12 which i purchased 3 months back. Its front tires are Bridgestone 165-60-R14 and rear tires are Chinese with sizes of 175-70-R14. My question is: Will having this different tire sizes affect badly to car structure?...eg: transmission, front suspension. I have not come up with any transmission or engine issue so far and car does about 13.5 km per litre. Pls comment..
  22. Hi varuna, Just check http://lexuslanka.com/ Lexus Trading (pvt) Ltd. No. 26, Bodiraja Mawatha, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka By the way what is your experience with Wurth...?
  23. Hi All, I'm looking to use a good fuel system cleaner for my Nissan March BK-12. I have few questions. need your help here. have any of you used any of the two above? Are these better compared to "Wurth" or "valvoline" Fuel system cleaners? Is BG 44k will be too powerful for my BK-12? Is there any place to buy Chevron Techron in Sri Lanka? looking forward for your feedback.
