Car Was Wrecked Asian Alliance Is Undervaluving The Car.

depends, may be ripped off for parts. or most probably the resurrect back after auction. probably, i assume by they needing the ownership with clear documents. most Probable scenario. I do not think so. is there any possibility of doing that? I think this letter will explain the probable fate. note that this was posted before all the struggle started.(1.45 offer) -

Had ABS Machan. actually it's 4 channel ABS with some skid management ECU under dash(i don't know what that is). But i am pretty sure that ABS was kicked in on the moment,I felt the Vibration on Break Pedal which is indicative of ABS. surface was more slippery than ABS could handle probably the speed. Telecom Post was 14500 Rs and I had pay and submit the receipt to police to get the car released. There was no requirement of Court case, Insurer stated that the Copy of the police complaint and Receipts were enough to claim the third party damages.Still no mention about that in any letter. Hope it will flow smoothly. terrible blow indeed . .. Thinking of a Carina 210 D or Corona 210D . since i travel around 3000 km per month. -

Actually bro, life gives lessons. This time a Strong one without a single scratch, may be the luck to the last drop. so Noted seriously. I was trying to save the life of small kid who was about to cross the road on heavy rain, machine was not young enough to handle the situation.and i was over confident or stupid ,maybe both. -

for the information of others i will list down the total process. the car was seriously damage from behind. due to sudden emergency braking at wet conditions, the car turned 180 degrees and hit a Telecom post. underneath was collided with concrete ridge by the road and caused severe damage to suspension system which mal aligned the mounting points of all 4 shocks. all 4 shocks were broken from shafts. indeed the driving compartment seems intact while the total body of the car deformed. these are some pictures of the scene. before taken out from the mud rear end the front on next day Had to pay for the telecom post before taking the car out from police. and car was non steerable. the garage people concluded following the controversy starts from there. Asian alliance take valuation of the current model from DE Silva motors and they have given it as 1.45. and insurer was trying to offer me that value. i strongly denied as i had a valuation from 7 months back which is way above the current. and then mine has been insured by commercial bank. so i was writing letters to Commercial bank and insurer. my points were solid. 1- I had uncommon model and cannot be compared with common lemons. 2- I had a proper valuation. 3- Nobody can give a value for wrecked vehicle without knowing previous mechanical condition. 4- the 30% steep loss is impossible to given period of time. 5- there is no evidence of over valuing. 6- insurer has been agreed to 1.85 at the time of insurance. 7- there are no specimens for sale in any classifieds for the given offer price. 8 -If you are so confident about the given market value,Just replace me a similar spec car without a cash pay. 9- Insurer is Violating the principle of INDEMNITY. 10- Manufacturer classify Caldina-Van and Caldina Wagon as 2 different vehicles, not 2 trim levels of same vehicle. went for discussion and with all points in documented. they had no clear explanations other than de silva motors, market value document. so they requested for another day. meantime, the same day i called the De Silva guys and asked what is the rationale for issuing the 1.4 for my car which is rare specimen, their reply was ,"that's the market value" So i faxed the letter with all the facts and warned that will report this to relevant Authorities if you misuse your valuation licence like this. evening that i received a call from De silva guys and said that they will not issue any other valuation for this wrecked car. meanwhile the insurer has taken a Valuation from Mr Godfry Yapa and that was 1.625 . they were offering me the same. i resisted here saying that this is unethical and just a random guy cant valuate my car without seeing it in real and without knowing the condition prior to accident. so negotiate them to send a Charted automobile engineer to see the car and note the technical differences and reconsider the offer for 1.85 insured value.and for which they requested 3 more days and seems its crossing the line of negotiations towards the legal aspects.and my mechanic insists that this is a good offer and settle for it. so i finally decided to stop the battle after 20 days of Emails, Faxes and letters to here and there. But still i Had enough evidences to beat them down in any court. And at the latter stages, that insurer wanted to get rid of me rather than dragging this for long, also they were being so professional at latter stages with very polite manners. in real Gentleman style. i had to read a Small book of Insurance principles to get ready to talk with them, it's difficult to talk if you just don't know anything on their line(Thanks Rumesh88 for the hint),and so easy to tackle them if you know what they are talking about. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5Oyn4KEhUaATFZlVGF5UXc0UEU/edit?usp=sharing so thanks to everybody, the simple lesson is. it is not always impossible, we don't try enough thanks for everybody for all the help given.- 78 replies

Thank you all for the inputs and replies. . After quite a bit of struggle they agreed to pay 1.625.000 Rupees instead of their initial 1.45. It was really helpful all your support. today i received the following letter from the insurer, Registered Post 21st May 2014 *********** ***** ***** ****** ****** ******** Dear Sir, Total loss claim on vehicle No. 65-**** This has reference to your letter of 17th May 2014 and subsequent discussion you had with us in respect to the above. Having re-valued your vehicle we note that the current market value of your vehicle is Rs. 1,625,000.00. Accordingly and as agreed by you the claim will be settled on Total loss basis for a sum of Rs. 1,625,000.00 less excess of Rs.1,500.00. In order to finalize the claim please comply with the requirements requested by us in our letter of 16th May 2014. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, ******* ******** Senior Technical Manager - Motor Claims CC: Commercial Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Ltd ...................................... it has been a struggle for the total insured sum, and i could have been able to prove that they must pay my original insured value, and i had strong reasoning to go beyond this. but due to 2 reasons i decided to settle on. 1- beyond this it seems that i have to take matters to legal level, and we all know that it is a lengthy process. 2- my mechanic (professional valuer) insist that this is a reasonable offer and settle for it rather than dragging this longer. -

Thank you everyone for the inputs. Today i went to meet the bank and insurance people too. Bank was promising to stand strong on my side. Feel that they are taking genuine effort. I have given letters to insurance company and the bank with clear explanation of the situation. Asian Alliance now saying that the car was over insured at the moment of policy. And they had a document from De Silva mortors about Estimate of 1.45 for my vehicle.taken after the accident. they say that its the amount that they are going to pay. and planning to get a second opinion. i clearly proved with documents that my vehicle is not the same commen caldina. Actually manufacturer has classifed it as total different vehicle as Caldina station wagon and other variety is classified as caldina VAN in toyota global website. They admitted that. Now they requested for one more day to decide. and i clearly asked for written reasons amd solid evidances for their fabricated Valuation. specifically asked for replacement not money,if theu believe that vehicle could be brought for 1.45. and as per fundamental insurance policies,Insuarer is legaly bound to uplift tje financial status of insured to the point where just before the accident. They admitted that as well.. still do not know what is the end result. Buy will keep you guys posted. About the way they handle matters, felt that they are not so profeaaional in customer care.Had to make a scene to even speak to a responsible person. . -

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="VVTi" data-cid="261565" data-time="1400343689">
In your wildest dreams....

Seems it depends machan. Once SLIC paid back our valuated 1.6 total for total loss of van.without cutting a penny at Thsunami time. And one of my friends family had a claim of 1.15 for van, They have insured as me by a valuation.insured sum was 1.2 and it was 17 year old bongo. My mechanic has documents payed by j********i of 400000 for D*MO batta valuated at 825000 by the time of insurance. have documents with one of SLIC agent about payment of 13.5 million for 13.6 insured SUV.may be new one.he showed the documents in promotion at my workplace. so i learn theat there should be rationale for this payment methods. does anybody know how these calculations are made? or what points shoud i bring up in case of a negotiation. -

You are correct machan. the usual caldina is going around that margine. let me explain it with a common example. corolla wagon CE 108 goes around 13- 15 with rear leaf springs. but their is a rare trim level called G-Touring and L-Touring.which are with indipendant suspension and headrest seats at back and all bells and whistles of full optioned corolla 110. which are very rere to find and often goes beyond 17-18. my case also similar to that machan. it must have been the fair offer if it is basic trim level. my one was a totaly similar to carina 212 mechanicals and interior and comfort. sorry bro, there are non of them in classifieds currently to show you the difference. all are rear leaf spring models. just to know machan?. does insurance companies exclude trim level differences when paying a total loss.? -
Guys, advice needed. The car involved is 1997 Toyota Caldina Turbodiesel auto with indipendet suspension.65 series. two weeks back, car met with an accident. rear end and a side collided with telephone post and the main frame was deformed.i was not injured luckily. My mechanic recommended the car is beyond the repair and insurance company also decided the same. We had a valuation at de silva motors and Value was given as 1.85 million. i had a 500000 loan for the car from comercial bank and they carried out the insurance things behalf of me. on 2013 august,Bank insured the car at asian insurance for 1.85 million. i didnt get the fine print. and bank sent me the card through post. insurance firm didnt even had a photo or inspection prior to policy.all based on valuation report. now after 7 months of policy, car is write off. now what they have done is,they have taken a market value from some other firm and offering me 1.45 million. which is nearly 30% loss of original value and genuinly i cant buy a replacement by that price. The car is passenger station wagon with all bells and whistles of carina 212.genuinly the said trim level car is moving around 17.5. may be due to rarity. they have taken the average market value of rear leaf spring basic model and forcing me to agree for that offer. what should i do now.? Bank is also showing not much responsibility in this case. Is there anything could be done at this level?. i remember we had old van which damaged by thsunami and SLIC paid the full insured amount of 16 or so as i remember. what is the retionale behind this offer?. What should i do for this now? can a 1.85 falls into 1.45 by 7 months?. thanks... . .

Our family has caldina for last 14 years and ts 97 made diesel. There are no such issues so far. It shares all the mechanicals of corona/carina 190 series. Dashboard is exactly same for corona /carina 210 series. So the issue he mention is incorrect. Our had 270k on odo and running strong until met with an accident 2 weeks back.currently under repair. Its a pretty strong car and all seats and interior similar with carina 210/211/212.Rear seats are diffent beacuse those are adjustable incline seats indipendantly. Our had rear indipendant suspension and its equally comfortable as carina/corona.though most of specimens are with rear leaf springs. Since you are talking about 2001 version it must be 210/211 version.Second generation caldina.which in fact the station wagon version of carina/premio 210/211/212.on eraly 2000 and late nintees. Buffed look and rear round lights and redesigned front make its different from 1st gen.i have seen 2 in sri lanka so far and think that white one is up for sale.GT trim if i remember correctly, but not a true GT as it has rear drum brakes.may be cosmetic modification. If you feel, go fo it. Such a nice car. All mecanicals you can easily find at any shop this being the brother of carina series. Some body panals may difficult to source but its not absent i must say.avoid average jonnies opinions on this. Anyway, you cant go wrong with caldina.proven with 250k odd miles on our hands over 14 years across every imaginable road in sri lanka.

OSAKA DUDE... Being a Toyota Engineer its sad that you dont know. AE 110 is a petrol/Gasoline version of corolla. CE 110 is the diesel powered. There are no Diesel powered AE 110. Its a commen nomenclature for toyotas from early 80s to late 90s. CT210,CT211,CT190,CT192,CE100 for diesel carina/corona corollas. While AT210,AT211,AT190,AE100 are for petrol counterparts. You cant miss that basic Principle being a Toyota Engineer.

Simple answer is NO. The best method to test shocks, you remove the shock and press it manually. See if it comes out smoothly. If its not,its time to replace shocks. Have once got a perfect result for almost gone rear shocks of my car 2 years back from same computer test. .

How is it in the morning starat. . .?
-
Spot on. Faulty hand pump head. You may manually do it few days. And sometimes it returns to normal. I also had the same situation. Pump heads are very cheap about 2500 recon or 1500 taiwan.

8600 - chinese brand NAMED LAKE SHIT OR SO. 9800 - CEAT. 10600- MAXIS AND ROADSTONE. 11600 - DUNLOP thailand. 16000- Bridgstone. 17100- Good year. Last week prices - Downsouth shop. If its first time you shift to that size.mind its a wide tyre and sometimes can contact with the body with 4 people onboard. Has the same problem after shifting from 185/65/15 to 195/65/15.

I can give you 4 answers as this. 1-dont bother 2 - dont bother 3- dont bother 4 - dont bother. Conclusion - dont buy it. Reasons. Not valuble for amount you spend. Poor quility of interior. Crappy stereo. Road noise is so obvious. Engine noise is so high into cabin. Lights become yellowish within few months. Door winders jams easily. stupid thud noise when closing doors. Poor acceleration. comes as manual as i remember. Rattles with usage of few months. List goes on and on. One of my friend use one and believe me, a 15 year old jap is far more better. With the price you pay,you can consider. 1-Civic ES 2- Lancer CS 2007/2008 3 - Vios or belta 4 - 110 5 - mazda axella 6 - Carina AT 210

Beacuse you are so drunk, the guy need cheaper mode of tranportation. Which he is going to achieve by a loan or busting his all savings.do you get it? <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="defendertdi" data-cid="259546" data-time="1396659419">
if u r not using ur car frequenter then no use of buying an Aqua.... also whether people like it or not most of JP Domestic models which are very popular in SL gona launch the Hybrid Version e.g Premio, allion in 2015 also Axio hybrid as already they have launched.

If a hybrid car is properly maintained and if you purchase a Accident free car from Japan.. i think car will not give you trouble for 4-5 years... also there are technicians who are capable of solving problems which occurs in electronic units of the Vehicle .......

Think you are in love with that aqua. If your sole purpose is saving money. Just buy jap Diesel. CE110 CE 108 COROLLA. CT 190 corona or carina. With a 2C diesel engine. You will get same running cost 7rs per km. And it has so called 2airbags and ABS. maintenance will be pretty easy. Parts, should i mention? Gearbox is 25k. Engine is 150k. Every body panal is damn cheap. You have spares from various brands. Compressor is 15k. Radiator 15k. You can replce all parts of car and 2 engines at a price of hybrid battery. Plus it can repaired by any local garage so you will not be ripped off by hybrid specialists. Believe me ,currently im touchering toyota 2C engine with eight (300km weekend) long trips per month and all A to B on weekdays during whole month. I pumped 21500 worth of diesel and travelled 2800km during last month.(mix driving) It outrun your Aqua and maruti too unless you run in heavy city traffic with bumper to bumper stop. A decent diesel will cost you half price of aqua. Buy a land from remaining 1.8mil. See the profit after your 10 year run.
