I found a place in Panchkawathe, that has Akebono pads, but the service manager at Anderson Rd is insisting that MK is better than Akebono. Panchikawathe Sri**** motors wanted to see the brake pad or know the 4-digit D number, he also mentioned that the pads are from Rs. 8,000.

I have been looking for this brand for some time. yet not successful. The car service joint in Anderson Rd offered a brand called MK, which seems to be from Japan. the service manager said he stopped selling Akebono, as he received complaints on the brake pads he sold, regarding chipping on the edges.

Thank you. Today sent the car for service and came with the advise to replace the rear brakepads ASAP, at agents, it cost 84k now. Thinking of replacing with the aftermarket one..Any suggestions.

My car's AC is having an issue with gas leak inside the cabin (can sense the gas smell like grass when turning on the AC + a continuous hissing sound when the AC is running), tried refilling the gas once, gas went off in 5 days. it is likely to need the compressor replaced. the unit is apparently way inside the dashboard, which basically would need the whole dashboard to be taken off. Agent quoted 185k including the air filter. Alternatively Mistire in Dehiwala could do it for half the price. I'm worried about the whole taking off the dashboard thing. Anyone have any experience with something like this.? any other reliable places to do the job?

The mirror could be lifted with minimal movements without triggering the alarm. In my case, small rings that lock the mirror with the rest of the assembly were there struck with the car, hence I was able to get only the mirror replaced. by the looks of the picture, it appears that the rings also missing in yours causing the assembly to be replaced. I got the replacement unit from Pachikawaththe. Since my one was without sensors and indicators, it only cost 10k, they mentioned if it is for the one with all those, it would be 65k. the location is near RPS, in Bhodiraja Mw. named K.D. Auto Parts. the person named Wajiranga, is reachable on 072798883. Hope this helps

Hi, it looks like the Civic Forum is one of the most active among the Hondas in Autolanka. trying to gather some help on a repair of a vezel. the latest post on anything to do with Vezel is from mid-2023. The 2018 RS vezel returned from Std Motors after regular service yesterday with a list of repairs recommended, including rear hub racer, front brake pads, calipers, brake pistons, air filter, cabin filter etc estimated to be over 200k. (Brake pads alone are 62k) Please let me know if any other places are known to handle Vezel repairs well in and around Colombo.

I once got some recon parts from a place in Grandpass called K.D Auto Parts, in Bodhirajarama Mawatha, opposite RPS. they also bring down on request as well.

Thank you. I also experienced the turbo lag and worried whether the CVT oil needs a change. my FC1 has 70k on ODO. However, service records indicate no instances of CVT oil change at Stafford (I bought the car with 34k on ODO). I was thinking of getting it changed. Meanwhile, I changed the car's air filter a few weeks back in Dehiwala. I'm not very sure whether genuine or not, cost me 8k whereas Sta**ord quoted 21k. fuel eff. seems to be improved after the change though.

Thanks. Mine is an FC1 (Sedan), I think better to get inspected. Any specialist garages other than S'd Motors in and around colombo. Mine has 69k on ODO.
-
My understanding based on the conversation with S'd Motors is that the shorter interval is actually a result of short distances driven during the specific service interval, meaning that the car would start around 6,000~6,500km range once services and it would reduce at a faster rate than actually driven. So this time I kept an eye on the maintenance minder from the time got it serviced, which was 2 weeks back. The car started off with less than 5,000km this time and has only 4,200km remaining now after 700km driven including a trip to Kandy. On a different note, a friend of mine forwarded a TikTok video done by GlitzPark, Yakkala some time ago, They were talking about a known issue of small chipping of timing belts resulting in blocking of oil drain leading to some other symptoms. Now the video seems to be deleted. Wondering whether I'm heading for an issue like that..

I also agree with you in this regard. However, compared to my experiences with Toyota, this seems to be having unexpected issues. my latest was the short maintenance intervals, previous one was corrosion between the rear windscreen & the dicky door (of the sedan).
-
Hi, nowadays the maintenance minder in my car starts to prompt for service by the time the car is about 3500km. this happened during the last two services. when I spoke to Stafford, they responded that it is because my runnings are short trips (<15km) largely in and around Colombo and not much to worry about. my trip pattern has indeed changed recently with more short trips as opposed to long trips. Earlier the maintenance minder would prompt around 4500km +, with 1500k remaining distance. (I've 68k on ODO) Has anyone else experienced this kind of situation?

I replaced the rear shocks on my FC1 at Stafford. The existing ones are repaired and kept. I repaired it in a place in Nittambuwa through a colleague
-
Sorry for your misfortunes with the car. I had AC condenser leak and got it replaced at the place next to Nawalanka in Dehiwala. I also replaced the shock when I bought it, as it had both rear shocks leaking oil. (by the way, I repaired it and kept it in case we run out without spares. Goodyear tyres are said to be around 40k at Carguys, Kohuwala who gave me 4 of those for 107k begining of last year.

I'm having a problem with the infotainment system & speed dialing. Whenever I connect a different phone to run Android Auto, it clears out all the speed dials set up. Is it normal. In my case, I'm carrying two phones. but what if the vehicle is used by two person like Husband & Wife.

I previously used a Prius with 185-sized tyres on 15 or 16 inch alloys and had a hard time with the ground clearance, At the very first tyre change, I shifted to 195 tyres which mostly solved the problem in my day-to-day use. If I recall correctly, the Civic has a 215-sized tyre and a larger alloy compared to the Prius. So far I have not faced the challenges I had with Prius with my Civic. last week I managed to take it through a kind of a bend which usually requires a couple of forward and reverse menueres to pass with my Ex-Prius 😊.

Guys sad news, my left side mirror lens got stolen last night near Wellawathe Foodcity. Don't know how much it's going to cost, Any ideas?. Insurance needs a police entry it seems.

Interesting note that the fuel type is mentioned as 95, whereas the sticker on the fuel lid says 91.
-
Isn't a non-hybrid mid-sized car achieving 24kmpl something unbelievable?
-
I saw this question on fuel consumption a few days ago, since it was on 1000CC I didn't bother to respond as mine is a 1.5L. However, I keep records of Odometer and fuel costs using an app called "my cars". I have done 22,080km & 55 refuels since purchase and 95% of the time pumped 95OCT. Fuel stats are as follows, best - 6.37L/100km (15.7kmpl) worst - 13.36L/100km (7.49kmpl) (full week in Colombo traffic running between Lady ridgeway hospital and home) Average - 9.11L/100km (10.98kmpl) My average run per month is 1,148km with AC on. Hope this helps

In case if you are interested in keeping the infotainment system screen off without the clock and wallpaper, it could be achieved by setting the wallpaper to blank and turning off the clock. the display goes completely off and turns on when required. Hope I'm not doing something not good for the car system.

Hi, Anyone recently replaced the wiper blades or refiled the existing blades. My one need a change, don't know where to find a good product without paying a hefty price at Saffords.
-
Once I pretty much raced from Colombo to Kandy, in between locking VTEC at high RPMs. Fuel efficiency was worse than Colombo city running. Keeping the RPM low helps lot with fuel efficiency & passenger comfort.
-
At least my one never shut down the engine ever since I bought it. may be due to the fact it is a 1.5L Australia import, as opposed to most being UK imported.
