  1. Hi I too have the same 4g91 engine my car but for some reason, the Timing belt gone and my mechanic says that I must find a head and replace. Little more than 50k km done on that timing belt FYI. 'The Don' it would be a great help if you could tell me where you found the 4g91 engine. I am looking for a head for last few days before the new year but could not find a one. So, if you could talk to your mechanic and see... that would be a great help. Thanks in advance.
  2. I too have the same car and experienced this. This is due to Hydraulic lash adjusters. Based on information I found this sound must go away after couple of minutes starting the engine. If the sound persists for a long time... this could be due to clogged lash adjuster. Try cleaning lash adjusters and replace if really needs. Here is some help cleaning/replacing them. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/265060-how-replace-lash-adjusters-lifters.html
  3. I've used used tyres but after thinking back it was just waste of money and when I want to go somewhere, I have to think twice, as tyres are not good. The used tyres you find in shop mostly are not that good ones, unless you are lucky. Most tyres are worn out un-evenly only a side or so. The best thing would be, if you can't afford to buy 4 brand new tyres, otherwise buy at least two tyres and after few months or few weeks, go for another two tires. Used tires are just a waste of money if you are planning to use the vehicle a long time.
  4. Do not take anything to the Durst electronics. I've seen many posts here that they are not good. Recently, I had to get my LCD TV repaired (Replace the LCD panel). Regardless of the many bad experiences many people have posted here... I had the courage to call Durst Electronics and asked if they can replace the LCD screen. The person who answered (the manager) said that LCD panel will costs around Rs. 12000 and I was thrilled to hear that since I could get the 32 Inch Sony Bravia LCD replaced for that amount. I asked him if he need to know the specific model of the TV as I wanted to be certain that they have the right part for my TV and he was not bothered to hear that. Straight away, I headed to Kollupitya carrying the TV and met the person. Since this TV from a europian country, he said that in addition to replacing the LCD panel, there's some modifications to be made to the TV. I said it was working properly and I just need to get the LCD replaced and he couldn't agree... and told me some stories why that modification is needed and he wanted to remove the TV cover and see the inside. I didn't allow him to do that since I suspected that he was playing with me and left the workshop thinking of getting it repaired at some other place... but not yet done. Please be careful with any electronic repair shop....
  5. I got my Lancer CB3 wheel alignment done at Nalaka ... and finally I had to replace all four tires due to excessive side wear. The excessive side wear found in all four tires (The inner side), and when it was found it was too late. Be careful with them... I got the alignment done twice from them and the first time I waited till the wheel alignment was done and I saw the mechanic selected a different model/year of the car for the standard settings in the computer and I asked him to select the correct one. No issues at the first time but the second time I left the car there and came to collect the car once it was finished. And that's it. Later I had to replace the tires.

  7. According to above posts you are talking about USED batteries not about new batteries. How do you ensure, the battery you bought at $500 will last few hundred thousand Km's? We simply can't accept the fact that Hybrid car batteries are available under 50,000 rupees.
  8. I was just thinking how "Hybrids will become accepted and 'mainstream' and will 'SUCCEED' in Sri Lanka" In few years time, once the battery or the electric motor is dead... the owners will not replace them since that would cost few hundred thousand rupees... instead.. . they will just say... "the money required to replace the battery or the electric motor would be enough for pumping petrol for few years...... so why replace them when car has got an engine run by conventional fuel.........." And they will not be Hybrids any more.................................
  9. Hi Guys, Could you please recommend a guy to get my car tuned up? It's a Mitsubishi Lancer CB3A. I went to a person called Dhammika at Borella but he said that he doesn't have the correct cable to connect to the car computer. Anybody who is famillier of tuning up Lancers?
  10. One day service is better. I heard from a person (works at RMV) one day service is the best becuase it creates no toubles if all documents are in place. Sometimes, with normal service, it will take months to receive the registration paper.
