For whom, interested about Fuel economy: http://www.epa.gov/fueleconomy/5yearhigh-low.htm vitz

Nuwan, For me, Platz is a very ugly design, from exterior to interior. The centrally located dash board really odd looking (like in vitz, though i like that name). Anyhow, I found this is excellent in fuel economy as well as the comfort. Anyhow, if you can get some more infor: http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/03echo.htm I am not sure whether Saluana and Tercel come with a VVI-I engine..... vitz

Many thanks Milindu for information. It looks that this is not a golden oppertunity to be missed. So I thought to wait till i come back and select a car I like.

Guys, I could find out answers for my last two questions from an old thread. So,,, just neglect them

Guys, I am expecting an expert advice. I got a offer for a toyota platz (2000), 1.3 milion. Is this a reasonable offer, just assume it is well maintained How about resale value of this model Is this model good in fuel consmption Since have been away from the SL for nearly 6 years(expecting to return back by early 2009), I dont have any idea about this model. comments are higly appreciated

Shane is correct, I also had same problem with ZoneAlarm(pro) firewall. If he is using the same just ask him to follow these steps 1. open Zonealarm firewall settings by double clicking the ZA short cut in the task bar 2. select "privacy" tab visible on the left side of this window 3. There will be a list of websites, frequently being used. Indeed www.autolanka.com should be there 4. click on it 5. then go to options and uncheck all boxes inside cookies, adblocking, and probably mobile code. Then the problem should be solved cheers vitz

Milindu, Many thanks for your expert comments. I know that, this car has been very well maintained and driven few km daily. But, I didnt have any idea about a diesel CE100 or 1000. Cuz I havent seen they appeared in AL classifieds. That is why i thought to invest on it. But, it seems it will be better to wait bit since I still have some time to return back to srilanka. Also, a 1992 car may depreciate pretty quickly. (also, i dont like the style of the camry also). So, I decided it would be better to buy a good petrol (1300) or a decent diesel once i return. thanks again vitz
-
Milidu, Do you have any idea about the price range of a Camry 1992 *diesel, done less than 150k. Also, very well maintained. One of my friend is willing to sell it, like to make a offer for him. one question more, will there be a huge difference in maintainance and operating costs if we compare 1300cc petrol car (vvti) and a diesel Camry ( i think it is a 2000 cc engine). I must say that i will traveling maximum 20 km per day. cheers

Yes, Bugatti... I am with your point of view. I have observed same in Belgium, Germany, France and Italy. Very rarely I've noticed a auto Japanese car. Virtually, all European cars get manual transmission. I dont know about the choice in UK. Automatic transmission seems to be a grandmama's choice in Europe . cheers
-
Hi All, This is really puzzling me, WHY * Japanese people do prefer Automatic transmission * Europeans really hate Automatic transmission Any clue!!!!!!
-
Hi Nilantha, Thanks for the effort !!!!!! Uploading some manuals (repair) will be very beneficial for most of us. vitz

Hi all, For my curiosity!!!!! Is there any utility of car GPS navigator in srilanka. With my experience, in Europe this facility make life much more easy.

Hello all, New VW golfs and Audis came out from the factory near to Brussels Belgium, being transported to an unknown destination. I captured these images just two days before to share with you all.

Hey DCL, Not yet, I'll let you know if I get any clue from my colleagues who bought it. rgds

My idea about laptops I think pentium processors are very good for laptops. Among them Pentium M (or duo) with centrino will do the best. I would recommend speed greater than 2.1Ghz. Dont go for Celeron processors. Their Cash memory is too low. Also, dont go for a pentium 4, it is not meant for laptops. Well, my experience with brand, I had a ACER TM1450, which gave a problem just after 1 year. A problem with the CPU cooling system, caused sudden shut down the mechine. For god sake, it was under warranty, so got a free repair. Now, I have a Dell Latitude, it performs very well. I dont know the availability of DELL in SL, normally they do web based business

DCL thanks for the infor. Old Lancer GL seems to be a good option. What are the options lacking in this model in comparison to the new model. One thing I now, that the old version doesn't have an engine with variable timing control. Is it a big issue in fuel efficiency!!!!! best regards

They are not transferable. The applicant must use it for 5 years.

Hey, there are two versions of avanza, 1.3E, 1.3 G (check out this site: http://www.avanzaindonesia.com/you_will_th...avanza_inside/). Probably, they may not be exporting two models. Anyhow, 1.3 model does not have neither Front Airbags nor ABS. But 1.5 model does have. Did you notice these features in the full option verion available in SL. I think anyone can import a brandnew car if want (to be verified by an expert)
-
In the circular it is not specified to import vehicles through sole agents. But, i think better to import through the agent specially regards to the gurantee.
-
Hi DCL, I am also going to import a vehicle through this scheme. I've got price for nissan sunny 1300 cc, CIF JY 970,000 to JY 1,192,000. Also, i got a quotation from Ramanayake Auto, too expensive, if you need i can forward it to you. Machan, what is the difference of Avanza with or without full option. If you need a kind of tax calculator, please let me know. rgds

It seems Doblo is coming out from a Turkey factory. Seems product development has been done over there by a company called TOFAS Turk Otomobil Fabrikasi,(http://www.globalautoindex.com/maker.plt?no=1394&g=Fiat), also produced as JV in Egypt, Vietnam. Neither Avanza nor Doblo deserves their true origin. But, nowadays automobile businesses are like that, they go for cheap labor markets for financial gains. It is pitty, non of these companies invest in SL.

I saw somewhere, 13km/l in city limits. Of course this depends on the load Nevertheless, it returned 8.6 litres/100km over 300km of mixed town and country driving, with the air-conditioning on, much of it in heavy rain. The smaller-engined version, especially in its basic 1.3S format (no air-con, no radio, but only R99 900), is likely to find favour as a crew bus, corporate shuttle or even, with the seats folded, as a multipurpose delivery van. source http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=3541395

I checked the interior of Fiat Dublo, Its really a quality work. The position of the gear also very convenient i suppose. But, investment risk is really high for this vehicle. specially, the availability and the prices of spare parts, also the second hand market. Have anybody of you got an idea, the origin of it. I think Fiat has some assembling plants in Asia. If so, the prices of spare parts may be bit low. By the way, what is the CIF price difference between Avenza and Dublo
