  1. Yeah, It looks like they have sourced it from china....How on earth these guys make such inferior products and export it....it puzzles me!!!
  2. Indeed, sometimes we take wrong choices in our life.... Though agent brought in a crappy thing, but at least they do a fair job in correcting the issue.... I would not expect such a service by the Sri Lankan pride, the "Mixxo Cars" By the way!!! the gear box of this vehicle is a European one.. https://www.punchpowertrain.com/en/products/4/vt5
  3. I used a ssangyong korando for 5 years. Not much to complain. But, compared to a japanese vehicles I have used, the Korean gave issues..like failing door actuators, air bag clock spring, all speakers failed, In General, Ssangyongs are not robust as Japanese counter parts......it may be a different story for Kia and Hyundai The main reason for the market price difference is the ignorant perception of people. SLs tend to prefer some brands irrespective of the condition of the vehicle leading to higher market price.
  4. You are correct about Tuk Tuk fellows in Kandy....Real idiots. Some years back people have an understanding in sharing round the bounds. Nowadays, that is not there anymore. If a policeman is not around, idiots will never give a chance...... Jeep looks great, happy touring......
  5. I too used the same oil. Perhaps you may have to do bit of maths. Our CHR is used for long trips in almost without traffic. Our other vehicle (EC) does the school trip of 10 km in the morning in Kandy traffic and it takes 2 hrs 15 minutes. CHR has gone 85 kms during that 2 hrs time. I will never wait for 7500 km to oil change for the vehicle run in Kandy but for CHR - Yes.
  6. @Kavvz Thanks for the information....is there a upper ceiling of compression ratio to call it as a higher compression ratio?
  7. Here we go..... UK specs of Mitsubishi Eclipse cross require RON 95 or above fuel.......But Japanese one specifies regular gasoline.....
  8. Perhaps other mechanisms of targeting fuel efficiency and less emissions may require high octane..... Yeah...region based recommendations of Octane number for CHR is puzzling to me!!!
  9. Regarding the compression ratio and fuel quality.... I found some information from the web that Vehicle Producers like Peogeot (PSA group) adjust their vehcle compression ratio considering the region. Quote form the Article "The compression ratio for countries with poor fuel quality has been adjusted to 9.6:1 to ensure reliability at full load".This is for the 1.2 L puretech engine that comes with 3008. So, we may have to trust Agent imports when considering Euros.... To meet strict environmental regulations, the same engine goes for UK market with 11: 1 compression ratio....:) I am not sure about Japanese vehicle manufacturers adopt similar strategy when exporting to different countries...Perhaps may be, thats why the OCT 95 is recommended for some countries....:)
  10. I agree both of you, it may be the Placebo effect........ Anyways the compression ration of Eclipse cross is 10:1. However, I am not sure how the Direct and Multiport injection happens (on demand basis or not) in this engine and may be the performance has something to do with it... Interestingly in CHR 1.2 L 8NR-FTS also 10:1.
  11. I believe the fuel station you pump has a big role here. Make sure to stick to one trustworthy station. I always get the service of Lauxxs (kandy) with the presumption that being a new construction their storage facility is better. One thing I noticed recently. I used 92 always for my Eclipse cross without any trouble (in Chr too, 38,000 km, no injector problem faced yet though some carbon deposits in the tail pipe). With all these horror stories of injector clogging, recently I pumped 95, believe me i feel quite a difference in the power when 95 is used in the Eclipse cross. But, the Chr is the workhorse of ours, 92 is always used without much a choice of the fuel station....with 0W20 engine oil changed in every 7500 km.
  12. Hope it would work. It looks that some garages have started the replacement at a cost of 70 - 80 k per injector. The real danger is the possible inflow of substandard injector from AlixxxxBxxx.
  13. The 4B40 engine of the Mitsubishi Eclipse cross has a "Electronically controlled multipoint fuel injection and direct injection" system. Can someone explain how it works? Would that also get a chance of C build up on intake/exhaust valves!!! This is a great video to watch... it looks like 4B40 is using a technology as similar to toyota D-45, where the direct injection (high pressure) is sprayed to a side of the cylinder, not to the top.... This is how it goes in 1.2 LT CHR engine....
  14. I can't imagine how this carbon deposit happens, as i can notice water droplets passing out from the trail pipe of the CHR.
  15. I agree. I should take it to TL soon. The problem is convincing precautionary measures to our better half is challenging :(. They prefer to drive until a disaster struck.... Overenthusiasm on vehicles is not appreciated by everyone........ anyways the link for the post: http://autolanka.com/forums/topic/22382-muffler-tail-pipe-carbon-chr-vs-eclipse-cross/?tab=comments#comment-331839
  16. Yes, compared to EC, the Carbon built up in the CHR is substantial. We have done already 37000 km in CHR but no warning lights yet. But I feel the smoothness of the CHR engine is pretty inferior compared to the EC. I did not get a chance to compare that with another CHR.....
  17. This is absolutely normal. The blue light indicates that the coolent is not come to the operating temperature and once it comes to the operating temperature it goes off. The important part is once the engine is started, better to keep on start untill the blue light goes off......
  18. Considering reasons like poor quality of fuel, poor storage facilities in fuel stations, lack of quality control in fuel stations, etc....Toyota and Mitsubishi like manufacturers offer vehicles such as Toyota Rush, Mitsubishi Expander having the old school engine technology for our part of the world. They rarely offer troublesome new technologies...... Ultimately, we are the one should blamed for (not the manufacturer) using vehicles those are not meant for the use in countries like Sri Lanka. I am really wondering about the fate of Euros with high compression Turbo engines those are imported to Sri Lanka....Surely those will be treasures for repairing companies to earn money by ripping off customers..Already I noticed that a Joint in Pannipitiya tapping that treasure by repairing gray imports of 3008 and 5008.
  19. This is evident when travel through Katugastota Road.....There are a plenty of imported vehicles lying in vehicle sales. The best decision would be to continue this vehicle importation restriction and if really needs the importation could be allowed for authorized dealers (even a limited number) with a strict control on the profit margins they are getting.....
  20. These spark plugs resemble the original in outer appearance but there should be some differences....Always better to keep the original part that came with the vehicle as a sample to judge the new purchase... Funny thing is though the OEM filters come from China with "Made in China" label, You want be able to find out counterfeits labelled "Made in China"
  21. Yes, my experiences say: 1. Always better to get the vehicle serviced from the agent 2. if it is a DIY job or job done by a machanic...(as I do) better to source parts like filters from the Agent. Time has come that none of the auto parts suppliers can be trusted (unlike those days we used ViC instead of Genuine parts). I believe all Toyota parts come in red packaging are Cheap Chinese Crap. 3. The people who does services at service joints, better insist to use genuine parts from the agent. Better choose a trustworthy service joint. I am really doubting about places like Au....Mir,,, Ster....g would use genuine parts....
  22. Yes, I too noticed it.....
  23. But, I hope its a real "Denso" from China........
  24. See, how we see all these hologram shit and everything on fake products. These idiots are screwing the entire auto industry.... https://youjia.en.made-in-china.com/product/zNMEcrYuHqVH/China-High-Quality-for-Toyota-Corolla-Vios-Oil-Filter-90915-Yzze1.html
