  1. Sold one of my Jeeps bearing 51-XXXX recently and the buyer asked me whether he will be able to get an English number with the transfer. Anyone know whether the RMV is offering the english numbers for 51- numbers. this guys is really bugging me and i told him to contact the rmv, but when ever he calls to ask something about the vehicle he asks about the english number thingy as well. i have read the old posts on this thread, i just wanted to check whether anything has changed since then. thanks.

yeah thanks for the advice Charith. i was very careful, and one pros abt driving at night is that, u can identify incoming traffic most of the time in bends by the head light reflections..

  3. Thinking of selling my Landy Defender and get a somewhat new one!!!!

  4. Well the best thing is to get in to habit of having a several filling stations that you know by experience or through other's recommendations to get your vehicle filled regularly. Further, if you can try to find a near by station that is owned and controlled by armed forces. They carry out daily pump checks to see whether the pumps are pumping exactly the amount indicated. This is done by different people very day and documented. So there's very slim chance of being cheated. Further, if u are planning on getting a full tank, just have a mega bottle with you where u have a marking on to indicate how much a 1 liter or 1.5 liter would be. Then ask the station to pump a liter to it first. Just say its for backupJ. If the amount is right get what ever amount u need. Otherwise complain. I don’t know whether they can switch the calibration of the pump instantly, but if they can the bottle method wouldn’t work. Further,, I read a member has mentioned all stations much have those one liter and 5 liter containers with them to measure right, well most of the places have them, but not all, and some have rigged containers as well too…
  5. yeah try the darly rd guys before roaming around panchikawatta. it is bettter if u can go to the agents first and have a look whether they have any in their stocks. im not tellin gu to buy from them, just see how the real thing is feel how flexibale/tender/hard the seals are. then u can get a fair idea what kinds of alternatives the darly guys have. so u can buy the best one for ur vehicle..
  6. Thanks for the info Gummybr, i think if i remember right the main problem was over heating. the main cause was that the vehicle were imported by a third party and those were specifically designed for EU cold\moderate climates. drop the same horse in a desert and you are done.. please correct me if im wrong. BTW what did u mean by being careful with early defenders??
  7. yeah heard the same as well. most of the engine sent to africa was changed inder warrenty for head cracks. i read onlline that the reason was they were not that good handling high temperature environments.
